Virus remains king, Coliseo Tag titles, Lucha Underground 22 minute ladder match

CMLL (TUE) 12/09/2014 Arena México [CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Mercurio & Pequeño Universo 2000 b Aéreo & Angelito
Straight falls. Angelito took a backdrop onto his head in the second fall and was stretchered out.
2) Magnus, Metatrón, Star Jr. b Artillero, Metálico, Súper Comando
Metatron replaced Flyer on Monday. Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Fuego, Oro Jr., Soberano Jr. DQ Arkángel de la Muerte, Disturbio, Kamaitachi
straight falls, Kamaitachi fouling Fuego.
4) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther b Felino, Puma, Tiger
Tecnicos took 1/3, The Panther submitting Felino
5) Virus © b Dragon Lee [CMLL SL]
Seconds were The Panther & Disturbio. Virus took 2/3 to keep the title. Virus’ eighth defense.
6) Bárbaro Cavernario, Euforia, Hechicero b Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., La Sombra
Sombra was not helpful to his partners, though he did help them in the first and was beat by Cavernario in the third. Rudos took 2/3 and demanded an Arena Coliseo tag title match next week.

Virus kept the title on his 46th birthday. He’s held the title for four years. Match will air Saturday night on Cadena3 around 8:20pm CT – you can see it their YouTube stream.

Angelito’s injury looked bad. Angelito took a backdrop high in the air, didn’t turn over, and landed right on his head. It was ugly; I watched it once and didn’t want to watch it again. CMLL posted video of the injury, but it was taken down by YouTube for being too gross. There’s no public update on his health, but the word going around they’re taking a look at everything today but it was more scary than destructive. Hopefully today’s CMLL Informa will have an update

The preview for tonight’s Lucha Underground show

The Top Of The Ladder
Prince Puma, Johnny Mundo and Big Ryck fight each other; the first Luchador to climb the ladder will claim Cueto’s prize.

Today’s Lucha Underground is one of two episodes where I didn’t get a show report, so can’t give you a match listing. We know the ladder match is happening and Chavo and Fenix have said they’ll have a match on the show today. There’s probably not a lot more. Lucha Underground has been a 44 minute show of late (up a couple minutes from the premiere), the ladder match is said to be 22 minutes long, and everything’s got to fit in the rest of the show. Maybe some vignettes, maybe a third match along the lines of Muertes/Famous B last week, and probably segments just long enough that they can run commercials in between them. If you’re watching the show live, figure on the first half of the show having more breaks than usual to let the ladder match go full out.

Next week is the final Lucha Underground show of the year. They’ve got a month’s worth to air to start 2015 and mentioned they’ll start talking about the next set of tapings in January.

Sexy Star talks to Variety Latino about her Lucha Underground character.

Sunday’s final ever show at Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi was filled with 10 man tags to allow everyone one more moment, and filled with fans in the stands. It was far more than the 5% capacity the weekly shows were getting, though notable that even the final show couldn’t fill up the arena. Nothing is truly final until they tear down the arena – Arena Coliseo Acapulco is back running shows again next week – but everyone seems to have responded like this was an end of era.

TerceraCaida is on today at 5pm. +LuchaTV has lots of highlights of Sunday’s Naucalpan’s show and last week’s Lucha Libre Boom show, like Myzteziz/Heavy Metal vs Dr. Wagner/Averno highlights.

Rey Bucanero is #1 in CMLL’s top 10 this week. Star Jr. is #10. No respect for Cholo!

LuchaMemes added Loba de Fuego vs Miss Gaviota vs Estrella Divina vs Juana La Loca vs El Demiasiado in a lumberjack match in it’s 12/21 show.

SuperLuchas writes about a Sangre Chicana and Satanico draw and other results from past December 10ths. There was an end of the year show where EMLL had four people lose their hair – and then five actually lost because the Chicana/Satanico draw. And this year Felino beat Rey Bucanero.

Many AAA luchadors visited the offices of La Magia de un Deseo (Mexico version of make a wish) for an early Christmas party with children.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 12/14/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Galaxy vs Atomik Star
2) Centvrión, Pantera I, Suicida vs Hip Hop Man, Liderk, Rayan
3) Leo, Mike, Rafy, Teelo vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Canis Lupus, Imposible, Oficial AK47
4) Black Terry & Negro Navarro vs Trauma I & Trauma II
5) Hijo De Dos Caras, Relámpago, Toscano vs Chicano, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, X-Fly
6) Danny Casas vs Oficial 911 [mask]

Main event is all Oficial Ak-47’s fault (since he no-showed the match that got Danny into this feud.) Most rudo thing he’s done, and somehow he’s back to work the Ninja Turtles.

Terry/Navaro vs Traumas is happening here.

Pantera I! Pantera I, at least under that name, has not wrestled in IWRG since January 2000. Pantera has I died since the last time he wrestled in Arena Naucalpan! Also Mike Suicida Segura has now been excommunicated from IWRG (for working somewhere else) and brought back now for about six straight years. And Centvrion hasn’t exactly been a regular this year either, it’s quite a trio.

CMLL (TUE) 12/16/2014 Arena México
1) Bengala & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & El Rebelde
2) Aéreo, Fantasy, Shockercito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000
3) Soberano Jr., Star Jr., Starman vs Cholo, Metálico, Ramstein
4) Blue Panther Jr. vs Sangre Azteca [lightning]
5) Delta & Guerrero Maya Jr. © vs Bárbaro Cavernario & Hechicero [Arena Coliseo TAG]
6) Rey Cometa, Super Porky, Valiente vs Ephesto, Hombre sin Nombre, Mephisto

This is not the first time the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Champion has been defended in Arena Mexico, but the Arena Coliseo Tag title has always been defended in Arena Mexico. It’s never changed hands in the four previous matches during this title era. It also should be the main event if they’re doing Nuevo Valores Martes.

Cholo & Metalico vs Soberano & Star Jr. appears on this feud. Maybe they’re just trying to speed it up to get it done in time for whatever, but if CMLL was intended to do a notable show for 3 King’s Day, that’s a Tuesday this year.

CMLL (TUE) 12/16/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Brillante & Reycko vs El Yaqui & Satara
2) Esfinge, Leo, Omar Brunetti vs Canelo Casas, Puma, Tiger
3) Princesa Sugehit vs Zeuxis [lightning]
4) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Gallo, Stuka Jr., Titán
5) Atlantis, La Sombra, Marco Corleone vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible

Speaking of people returning from the dead, it’s Mr. Niebla! Niebla, last see passed out by the barricade in Arena Mexico on November 7th, got a six week timeout this time. Hope his knee is better.

Canelo needs to watch his partners and learn. He should bring a notepad and take some notes.
