CMLL (FRI) 12/05/2014 Arena México [CMLL, MT, Terra]
***Infierno en el Ring, 2014***
1) Pegasso & Tritón b Canelo Casas & Disturbio
Tecnicos took 1/3
2) Fuego, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. b Kamaitachi, Okumura, Virus
Tecnicos took 2/3
3) Dragón Rojo Jr., Super Porky, Titán b Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Vangellys
Tecnicos took 2/3 with Porky/Kraneo comedy. Mistico appeared after the match to announce he would be returning (soon?)
4) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Valiente DQ Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Thunder
2/3 for the tecnicos, the last when Thunder pulled Mascara’s mask for the DQ.
5) Felino L Marco Corleone, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr., Terrible, Shocker, Bárbaro Cavernario, Rey Bucanero, Máximo, Blue Panther [cage, hair]
They fought for three minutes before escapes were allowed. Order of escape: Shocker, Terrible (about the same time), Blue Panther, Maximo, Ultimo Guerrero, Marco Corleone, Voldaor, and Barbaro Cavernario. That left Rey Bucanero and Felino left in a rematch of 2011 Anniversary cage match. Bucanero beat Felino this time for Felino’s first hair loss.

The finish of the cage match was all about symmetry with the previous cage match, but it seems like a waste to have Rey Bucanero winning cage matches at this point in his career. Knee injuries and a long time of lucha libre has caught up with Bucanero and it’s likely this is the last major hair match he’ll win. This seems like a setup to Bucanero losing his hair sometime in 2015 – maybe Cavernario avenges his partner – but a month or two of Bucanero heavy matches are going to be a tough ask.

When CMLL mentioned Mistico appeared on the show, I was expecting to read a return date announced. Doesn’t appear like one was specified, they just had him out there to say hello in front of (what they hoped to be) a bigger audience.

Kcidis draws a bald Felino. CMLL posted the dance number from last night. This was a really quick show, clocking in at just over two hours.

Lucha Azteca may be pre-empted today. It’s still showing up in my guide, but other people have noticed that it’s missing from their Azteca station this week. I think it depends on east coast/west coast feed; Azteca is airing the second division promotion final tonight (with Apolo Valdes’s favorite team!) and that may have caused the show to get bumped on the west coast. Or maybe everywhere, who knows.

A preview for the next two weeks of Lucha Underground reveals the 12/17 show is called a “Unique Opportunity.” It’s the show with the two 10 man matches, a battle royal and an elimination match. They also mention the ladder matches goes twenty five minutes long. There’s always hyperbole in these things, but that’s still going to be quite a match.

That preview also confirms the show will be off on 12/24 and 12/31 and will be back on 01/07. People with Lucha Underground had said that was the plan months ago, it’s not new but something most people aren’t yet aware of. I keep thinking (and saying) this looks like a Unimas thing, but I’m thinking over it again and not so sure. It is Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve on El Rey, but it’s only December 27th and January 3rd on Unimas, and I’m not sure there’d be holiday programming on both those days. It’s probably just not wanting to run episodes on El Rey during the holidays. I’m not sure what will air on Unimas.

Daga is listed as working the 12/25 Arena Azteca Budokan AAA spot show, so he may be back soon. There’s also a surprise luchador working the main event.

Perro Mocho Jr. took “Cotty” Santiago’s hair on the Xalapa DTU show. I’m not quite sure why he has no S in Mexico but Mexico is weird.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Alberto talked about the soon to be closed Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi in his brief trip back to the city earlier this week. He hoped it’d be replaced by something better.

Texano says he’ll stay megachampion tomorrow.

Segunda Caida reviews Mistico vs Volador II.

Hidalgo luchador Principe Diamante was honored.

Pagano & Sick Boy talk about their feud with Nicho.
