Cometa moonsault

Gallo, Rey Cometa, Tritón vs Maléfico, Okumura, Virus: [GOOD] A bit longer match than usual on this show, and makes it to the good level because Virus was awesome. Announcers were way into Okumura & Gallo doing some ordinary mat work in the first fall, then were paying a less attention as Virus just took Triton to school. I believed there was no way Triton would ever escape that leg hold and I think he believed that too. Triton had a tough match – I can’t remember him doing the corner tope before and it didn’t go so well for him either. Triton multiple springboard spot near the end was much better. Malefico remains totally vanilla to me, but he worked smoothly with Cometa in the third fall.

Mr. Niebla may be blind.

Ángel de Oro, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Cavernario, Felino, Mr. Niebla: [OK] Peste Negra in full Peste Negra comedy mode, where it appeared half the moves in the match were Niebla slapping someone. Tecnicos got their stuff in, but it was very much a match of getting stuff in and then getting on with it. Zacarias now dresses like Cavernario, and I’m sad we never got see Zacarias as Herodes (or Herodes as Zacarias, which seems more likely now that I think about it.) It seemed like Niebla was constantly in the ring, which limited what was going to be done. Though it’s not like Felino was doing more. Even with the triple dive, I wanted to fast forward to something else by the end of this. Rudos had no idea that Delta was the captain and I’m not sure why he was.

triple tope
double tope!

Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Máscara Dorada vs La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush: [OK] The Ingobernables stomping down Atlantis would be a pretty good way to get a reaction if this was meant to be going anywhere. Crowd seemed to genuine boo them for it (instead of the usual Guadalajara chanting at each other.) This has been a pro-Rush crowd at one point, but the crowd was pretty strongly against him in the second fall. In the end, we got teases for an interesting 18-20 match in something that only went 8. Mascara Dorada as a heroic técnico going up against the Ingobernables seemed to work in the sixty seconds it took place, like Atlantis battling the disrespectful punks, but there wasn’t enough of it here to make it work. (Diamante Azul, who decided to sell a double dropkick about 10 seconds after it hit him, was not as promising.) The most important tease is the Ingobernables could work and work well as straight rudos, if CMLL would just committee to it.
