Infierno en el Ring card announced to yawns, eye rolls, general disinterest

CMLL (FRI) 11/28/2014 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Disturbio & Metálico b Oro Jr. & Star Jr.
Star Jr. replaced Starman on Monday.
2) Dalys, La Comandante, Tiffany b Estrellita, Goya Kong, Princesa Sugehit
Dalys missed the bodybuilding contest on doctor’s orders but was back here. Estrellita was taken from the match in the second fall after being injuring her back on a Dalys piledriver.
3) Euforia, Negro Casas, Niebla Roja b Dragón Rojo Jr., Máscara Dorada, Rey Cometa
Rudos took 2/3.
4) Felino DQ Rey Bucanero [lightning]
Bucanero attacked Zacarias and Felino hit Bucanero with the toliet lid for the DQ. Everyone (but Porky) ran out to get involved, transitioning right into the next match.
5) Bárbaro Cavernario, Shocker, Vangellys b Blue Panther, Máximo, Super Porky
Super Porky was last out and Felino and Bucanero needed help leaving it after the last match. Maximo was mentioned live as being hurt by Vanglleys but there’s nothing in the recap about it.
6) Terrible, Thunder, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, La Máscara, Volador Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, Terrible sneaking in a foul on Volador to set up a UG win.

Ultimo Guerrero says he’ll be the first one out of the cage match because he has no interest in it with Rush out of the match. Join the club. (Way to sell the show.) I used to think the stuff with the Invasors in 2011 (killing them dead so they could get Olimpico a payday, then sacrificing Negro Casas to build to a Rey Bucanero/Charly Manson match that never happens because Charly didn’t want to be there) was the weakest stretch of recent CMLL booking but this build is knocking on it’s door.

this paragraph is spoiler-y for Lucha Underground: Next week’s Lucha Underground episode is The Key, about the weird key Dario always has. I previewed it last night. The show after that, the one that airs on December 10th, is called “The Top of the Ladder” and hypes a Puma/Mundo/Big Ryck ladder match. That’s makes sense given where those characters were this past week. It doesn’t make sense given the taping order; the next show in order would’ve been the first taping from 10/04, which didn’t have a a ladder match. The ladder match was hyped for that weekend and must’ve taken place on the second taping (which we have no results from), but that also means they’re airing the second taping first for whatever reason. This is mostly meaningless, but if you’re looking at my guides to figure out what is airing when, you may be a bit off. (And if you’re the LuchaWorld guys, because the cool match you saw won’t air until 12/17 at least.)

Negro Navarro & Que Monito vs Black Terry & Zacarias has been added to the 12/21 Lucha Memes show, where the mascot must be involved in the winning submission or pinfall for it to count.

Segunda Caida reviews Guerrero Maya Jr. & Hechicero vs Trauma I & II, Lucha Underground Episode 5, the Mistico turn from 2010.

Video of La Sombra’s match from yesterday teaming with Naito against Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows (who apparently had too much fun celebrating this one.) Sombra had a non-tournament trios win today.

DJ Spectro writes about a Huracan Ramirez vs El Solitario vs some other guy triangle mask match. Guess who lost.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 12/05/2014 Arena México
1) Pegasso & Tritón vs Canelo Casas & Disturbio
2) Fuego, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Kamaitachi, Okumura, Virus
3) Dragón Rojo Jr., Super Porky, Titán vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Vangellys
4) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Valiente vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Thunder
5) Marco Corleone vs Último Guerrero, Volador Jr., Terrible, Shocker, Bárbaro Cavernario, Rey Bucanero, Máximo, Felino, Blue Panther [cage, hair]

Just a cage match. Nothing else on the card. Even the trios matches don’t look good. The segunda might be, but it’s also a match they might do on any other show so there’s no urgency. This card is so bad that it’s almost like an experiment to determine a baseline attendance number for a CMLL cage match. There’s no hot feuds in the cage matches. There’s no hot luchadors in the match – they’re booking Ultimo Guerrero as if he’s an attraction but the turnouts don’t seem to have shown that. There’s no support matches of any kind. There’s token TV promotion (with spots which look about 20 years behind the stuff AAA and WWE are doing.) Ticket prices are as expensive as you’d figure for a ‘major’ show, running from 180 up to 830 MX ($13 to $59). There’s nothing going for this show outside of the cage so we find out how much that cage is worth.

  1. CMLL should have a tournament.

Rey Bucanero. Ultiimo Guerrero. Blue Panther. Volador Jr. Black Warrior and some others.

Winner will win his mask back. Volador needs his mask back. This would be a good way for him to get it back.

  2. Another cmll tournament this year would cause my head to explode.

Cmll should book a decent feud for the cage match, or put another big match on the card, and allow it to be seen live.

Cmll should do a lot of things, they won’t do anything :)

  3. I think the Shop Lucha Underground page on el Rey network has been removed.

Maybe they simply ran out of merch? Maybe I messed up and could not find it this time?
