CMLL (TUE) 11/25/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Sky Kid & Smaker
2) La Comandante, La Seductora, Zeuxis b Lluvia, Marcela, Skadi
3) Sagrado b Gallo
Sagrado took 1/3, then beat up Pollito after the match.
4) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther b Misterioso Jr., Puma, Tiger
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Valiente DQ Felino, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
Ultimo Guerrero replaced Thunder, only Thunder was still there and attacked Marco before the match. Tecnicos took 2/3, with UG fouling Marco.

Thunder hurt? Odd for him to go all the way to Guadalajara if he’s hurt (but kind of really professional.)

IWRG (WED) 11/26/2014 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG]
1) Atomic Star b Sky Ángel
2) Anubis Black & Araña de Plata b Galaxy & Vampiro Metálico II
3) Dragón Celestial, Golden Magic, Saruman b Liderk, Rayan, Spector
4) Imposible © b Hip Hop Man [IWRG IC Light]
Imposible took 2/3 to keep the title. Sixth defense.
5) Leo, Mike, Rafy, Teelo b Apolo Estrada Jr., Chicano, Eterno, Liderk
Liderk replaced Canis Lupus. Ninja Turtles take 1/3.

Ninja turtles remain dominant.

Yesterday was the annual CMLL bodybuilding contest. LuchaWorld has all the standings. I posted the Terra video of the show: tumbling footage, posing, and winners announced.

Students

La Mascara was the over all winner. He talked about his win, also saying that Rush gave him the Papi de Papis nickname and he wants the mask match with Atlantis.

The winners were also on CMLL Informa, but the bigger news for us luchadorks was Panico announcing a new run of live events. Sabados Popular (Saturday) shows will begin on 12/20 Arena Coliseo and will feature CMLL trainees in five matches. It sounded like the main matches may have regular CMLL talent but the undercard will be one fall matches with guys who aren’t working regular. Prices will be cheap (because these trainees are working for the experience and not the check) and they’re probably running Coliseo because they don’t expect a big turnout. The first card will be announced next week. No word about TV or Terra or anything. I’d be surprised if they turned up that way. If CMLL was a completely different company, these would be perfect thing to sell for $2/show as internet downloads but now I’m just in crazy town.

This is not an entirely new concept; I can’t figure out the start and end dates, but CMLL (and UWA) have tried this concept of ‘off day’ solo trainee shows. It’s generally seemed to be at stronger times in the business than now, though now is the time where CMLL could use new stars. Just having more random guys isn’t going to help, which is probably where this is going. Still, great fun for luchadorks.

Panico was evasive about if indy guys would be on the shows, but I think that’s partially because the line between “CMLL trainee” and “indy luchador” is blurry; Hip Hop Man and Imposible were among those trainees seen at the bodybuilding contest show, and then they went over to IWRG to have a twenty minute match. A lot of guys in the indy feds were/are CMLL trainees who never got a chance to make it to the main shows. Maybe a bit more exposure will give the next group of guys more of a chance.

Terrible would like to thinks Marco Corleone (attention divided with other activities) and Barbaro Cavernario (first cage match) are possible losers in Infierno en el Ring.

El Sabor del Ring has part one of a piece on the people working at Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi as it closes down. The last show is a week from Sunday but no one knows for sure what will happen with the building.

FWIW: the Funcion Estelar recap has other people instead of the TNA guys on the Arena Aficion show.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

+LuchaTV has interviews with Mil Mascaras, Dos Caras and Brazo de Plata from the Mujam show.

Freelance vs Suicida in a 20 minute iron match.

CaraLucha promo from the Neza guys for their match against the Gringos.

CMLL Stellar Moments from last week.

DJ Spectro looks back at Solitario vs Galeno II.

Ciudad Juarez officials want to better regulate minors working as luchadors.

Lucha Libre in Japan

11/27 NJPW: Matt Taven [O] & Michael Bennett beat Tetsuya Naito & La Sombra [X] – well of course, back to normal. I’d think Taven is the lesser guy on the team, even, but I’m not sure of that. I know Maria is the star of the team and maybe it doesn’t matter past that. Sombra & Naito drop to 2-1.

WON says NJPW plans both to run Atlantis/Ultimo Guerrero and Sombra/Volador matches on the FantasticaMania tour, for which half the shows are sold out and a fourth or close. Unsure which shows NJPW is planning to run Matt Taven singles main events.
