Atlantis won with a huracarrana.

Today’s Arena Mexico has no title match; it’s now a lightning match with Estrellita and Zeuxis. Maybe next week. Main event is Mascara, Porky, and Titan vs Euforia, Negro Casas and Niebla Roja. Dragon Lee, Fuego, Titan vs Boby Zavala, Cancerbero and Raziel has the best chance to be good.

Atlantis & Dorada vs Gran & Ultimo Guerrero headline Arena Coliseo Guadalajara – which may mean that’s not a TV match. 52MX has skipped either the biggest match of the show (Rey Bucanero/Maximo) or the actual main event the last three weeks. Three weeks suggests it’s not match quality issue but a decision to “protect” the big matches by not giving them away on TV. Except, there’s no particular advertising for Arena Coliseo Guadalajara or for those matches, so the casual fan likely believes the show just has gotten worse – lesser stars and no angles if they keep it this way. (For our purposes, they’re trading a Mascara Dorada appearance for a Soberano one, more or less, and I’m guessing Maximo/Casas won’t air this weekend.)

Pentagon Jr. is really happy with Lucha Underground and the reaction it’s gotten. A Lucha Underground commercial aired on WWE RAW, at least on the DirecTV broadcast.

Black Terry Jr. has highlights of Guerrero Maya & Hechicero vs Trauma I & Trauma II

Rob has a music video of 07/22/14 CMLL.

LuchaWorld has this week’s Poster-Mania.

+LuchaTV has highlights of Hijo del Diablo vs Dr. Cerbero, Negro Navarro vs the Traumas, and Canis Lupus and Golden Magic challenges.

Mr. Nice defeated Monje Negro Jr. for his hair using a hold that LuchaMania Monterrey describes as “only god knows [what it was supposed to be].”

  1. So mephisto is feuding with valiente on Mondays, angel de oro on Fridays, and Volador jr on Sundays, I guess ultimo Guerrero needs a little down time

  2. I’m totally buying that Traumas/Hechicero tag from BTJr. Does he upload them on his private YT channel too? It’d be much easier than having to deal with 2GB links from Dropbox.

  3. The devil and the angel feuding is the perfect storyline, I cannot believe they did not do that until now.

  4. I was thinking at first maybe the decision not to air certain matches from Guadalajara was because they involved the likes of Marco, Shocker and Buccanero. That maybe they were judged not tv worthy.
The real test for that is if Guadalajara do not air Casas/Maximo.
Like you said it seems to have been a company decision, though it does not seem a good one as the show feels a little lightweight now.

Off topic totally, but what happened to Diamante? I always thought he was a decent luchador and with the Casas connection, was pretty safe in the CMLL mid card.
I know he was injured in 2013, and haven’t seen him back there, but have heard of him wrestling on other cards occasionally? Was he really badly injured? Or is he just out of CMLL.

  5. @jay: Broke up with the Casas daughter, got involved with someone else, was sick/hurt for a while, then moved to La Laguna to be with the new person. Shows up on indy cards there but it doesn’t seem like he’s coming back to Mexico City.
