3) Dragon Lee b Kamaitachi [lightning]
4) Mr. Niebla, Terrible, Vangellys b Blue Panther, Fuego, Titán
5) Euforia, Shocker, Thunder b Máscara Dorada, Máximo, Stuka Jr. Stuka replaced Diamante Azul. Thunder powerbombed Dorada for the win.
6) Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero DQ La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush Straight falls. UG faked a foul in the second. Rush and UG challenged for a singles match.
Terrible won! Also the main event does seem to be heading to a singles match. Very thin CMLL.com recap and no Twitter updates last night.
AAA’s already posted today’s TV, which includes a TV vignette teasing Electroshock’s retirement. The show announced TV tapings for 11/22 (Apizaco) and 11/28 (Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera). AAA likes to save it’s big angles for when it returns to Guerra de Titanes, but this time that would require holding much of the Guerra de Titanes card until less than 10 days after the event. Two tapings means there’s some of these (including Leon on 11/17) are one week tapings – or maybe they’re just dumping usual the three weeks of Best Of shows, because they’d have plenty of material to air thru the new year now. However it turns out, AAA’s going to go 36 days without a taping, then run four tapings in 20 days. It’s such a weird schedule.
Bill has a new channel and posted highlights of 03/02/14 CMLL.
CMLL (FRI) 10/24/2014Arena México
1) Oro Jr. & Soberano Jr. vs Disturbio & Guerrero Negro Jr.
2) Estrellita, Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit vs La Comandante, Makoto, Narumiya
3) Delta, Dragon Lee, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Ephesto, Hechicero, Mephisto
4) Máximo vs Rey Escorpión [lightning]
5) Titán, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys
6) Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero vs La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush
Rematch in the main event, the Rey Escorpion/Maximo feud pops back up in the lightning match. Video promo has Hechicero.
I lost most of my post today. The writing part isn’t hard, but regathering all the links is insane. So not many links today.
CMLL’s main event today is Ingobernables against the Guerreros. That seems like a set up to a trios title match, but might instead end up with Rush/UG instead. We’ll find out more today. Semifinal includes Azul/Shocker feud, special gives Terrible a winnable match, Dragon Lee and Kamaitachi meet in the lightning match which might be a lot of fun, and might sneak on TV. And a women’s match and a good minis match round out the show.
WWE comes to Mexico this weekend with a stop in Mexico City on Saturday (mostly just cheap tickets left0 and Monterrey on Sunday (lots of tickets left). There’s no real buzz for this show, either positive or negative in response to the Alberto’s firing. I’d been expecting this would be the point we’d hear one more time from Alberto about his firing – after this point, it’s kind of old news – but there’s been nothing new there. For it’s part, the Mexican promoters of the WWE insisted there’s no racism, because why would they try to make money off Mexicans if they were racists? (Hmm.) Sin Cara says it’s divine justice that he’s now got the character and emphasized how he’s a much more complete wrestler (as if that’s what the Mexican fans were looking for.) He’ll face Fandango on the shows. Kalisto will not be on the shows.
Taya will apparently join Angelico, Aerostar and Argenis in making her Lucha Underground debut this weekend. An article announcing changes to a show in Villahermosa has Taya, Mascarita Sagrada, Pimpinela and Drago off the show because they’re headed to LA. (For what it’s worth, Taya hasn’t said anything about this and instead posted about going to the gym today instead of all the travel to LA messages everyone else seems post.) Daga is also mentioned as being off for surgery. Daga has missed his last few TV appearances with a knee injury but this is the first we’ve heard of his severity. Super Fly has also mentioned he’s headed to LA, so it wasn’t just a one time appearance.
SuperLuchas (with some help from Sabor del Ring, I think) reports Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi may have be sold with plans of shutting it down for lucha libre. (Usually, this means tearing down the building and putting something else up, though that’s not said here.) No one’s confirming it – the promotion who runs Sunday shows there isn’t saying anything – but I can’t remember the last time I saw a decent looking crowd there. The building has been in existence since 1958 and has regularly held lucha libre events and other functions since that time. The article says there’s a plan for a final show in the building on 11/23 with local legends on the show. The change in the ownership would happen soon after.
They did an episode on this ownership situation on the El Rayo, Vida de Lucha reality show: Rayo de Plata was offered the chance to buy Arena Coliseo SLP but ultimately turned it down. It came off more as a TV storyline to provide Rayo an excuse to meet with old friends (and maybe a chance to show how the rival promotion in town was struggling and his place was doing better.) It wouldn’t have made sense for Rayo de Plata to buy it anyway, because the building they run is much smaller and they don’t seem to be filling it up.
SuperLuchas catches up with Hijo del Lizmark and says he’s one of the most in-demand independent luchadors. The numbers don’t seem to bear that out: we don’t get every lineup, but he’s been listed as being on only 9 shows since May and none this month. This is not meant as a criticism; I’d just assumed he’d moved onto other things. Anyway, the message of the interview is Hijo del Lizmark would definitely be interested in AAA if they called (but one would figure they probably already would’ve if they wanted him.)
LyC (SUN) 11/30/2014 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Chamaco Gurrola & Tequilita vs Mini Difunto & Mini Hator
2) Halcon Real vs Demenzía, Medico Infernal, Memo Valles, Face Man, Kaientai, Gato Fantasma, Aguila Azteca
3) El Ninja, Ninja Jr., Ultimo Ninja vs Hijo Del Mongol Chino, Mongol Chino, Mongol Chino Jr.
4) El Pulpo, Hijo De Dos Caras, Tigre Universitario vs Canek Jr., Espectro II, Silver Star
5) Dos Caras Sr., Mil Mascaras, Sicodelico Sr. vs Angel Blanco Jr., El Hijo del Solitario, Pirata Morgan
The Mascaras brothers together for another maybe one last time, only Dos Caras seems unlikely to actually wrestle here due to his leg injury. Guess we’ll see.
Daylight savings time (different in US than Mexico) and Lucha Underground are coming, but this week is still normal.

Azteca: a week behind, so Copa VIP Block B this week.
52MX: Volador vs Shocker.
Claro: The previews they taped prior to the taping did not seem to include one of the minis title match. The Cachorro/Pegasso/Triton vs Delta/Maya/Stuka match should be good anyway.

Terra Sunday: Diamante Azul vs Shocker

Noches de Coliseo: reruns
IWRG (LAS/AYM): Probably the Myzteziz show – except the Sunday airing has mysteriously disappered of the schedule. Someone wants to make sure I never get the Ninja Turtles match.
AAA IWRG (WED) 10/15/2014Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr),Estrellas del Ring, IWRG]
1) Emperador Azteca & Metaleon b Anubis Black & Atomic Star straight falls.
2) Leo (IWRG), Mike, Rafy, Teelo b Apolo Estrada, Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Hip Hop Man
3) Jennifer Blake, La Jarochita, Súper Nova b Eterno, Sexy Lady, Taya Valkyrie Jennifer beat Taya
4) Monsther Clown & Murder Clown DQ Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan Hijo de Pirata tried sneaking in a foul on Monster but was caught.
5) Averno, Chessman, Texano Jr. DQ Hijo De Dos Caras, Myzteziz, Psycho Clown Rudos took 1/3. Myzteziz got La Mistica on Averno, only for Chessman to hit both referees with a chair. Psycho got the chair and fought off the rudos, but the ref awoke to see Psycho with the chair and DQed him.
Fuego en el Ring has an interview with Ultimo Guerrero, who says an announced title match with him and Dr. Wagner in Merida is not happening – the card is false and he’s not going. UG says he no interest in Wagner coming back to CMLL, believing CMLL has their own stars and do not need Wagner. UG is asked about upcoming trios title defenses – he says he believes there’s one coming up soon in Puebla and maybe one more. There seems to be one set up for Friday night in Arena Mexico, but perhaps not. Puebla would mean Atlantis, Maximo and Valiente are probably getting a title match on 10/27.
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter says AAA almost but didn’t sell out for San Luis Potosi, drawing 8,500 to Domo. (Capacity is listed as 11,000, though it’s always smaller when they start cutting off seats the set.) WON’s started reporting lucha attendance for regular shows the last few weeks – CMLL’s Friday crowd is listed at 4000.
The WON also mentions TNA’s Zema Ion is headed to Mexico while TNA is off the next few months. Ion helped Tigre Uno get into TNA, so I suspect this is Tiger repaying that favor. DTU’s anniversary shows are going to be announced next Friday, and Ion’s worked with them previously. Robbie E may also come to Mexico
Angelico, Aerostar and Argenis will debut on this weekend’s Lucha Underground tapings. Are they going alphabetical? Poor poor Soul Rocker. Aerostar and Angelico should be good.
IWRG (SUN) 10/19/2014Arena Naucalpan
1) Saruman & Sky Ángel vs Araña de Plata & Atomic Star
2) Metaleon & Septimo Dragon vs Anubis Black & Hip Hop Man
3) Leo, Mike, Rafy, Teelo vs Canis Lupus, Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Spartan
4) Trauma I & Trauma II vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan Jr.
5) Grond XXX, Pantera, Veneno vs Demon Clown, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Pirata Morgan
Original Gronda versus Demon Clown. This a real main event, with a team of Gronda, the guy who won’t give up wearing his mask and crazy man of god Veneno. I don’t even know. Just put the turtles in the main event already. If you’re going to make ludicrous main events, at least make them fun.
CMLL (TUE) 10/14/2014Arena México [CMLL]
1) Camorra & Espanto Jr. b Flyer & Sensei
2) Black Panther, Oro Jr., Soberano Jr. b Canelo Casas, El Rebelde, Metálico
3) La Comandante, Makoto, Narumiya b Estrellita, Goya Kong, Princesa Sugehit Debut for Makoto & Narumiya. Rudas took 2/3.
4) Rey Cometa DQ Niebla Roja [lightning] 6:27. Niebla Roja accidentally fouled Rey Cometa on a flapjack kick
5) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Boby Zavala, Hechicero, Rey Escorpión Tecnicos took 2/3
6) Atlantis, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Bárbaro Cavernario, Felino, Negro Casas Tecnicos took 1/3, Atlantis beating Negro Casas.
The foul in the lightning match was after a complicated set up to Niebla Roja’s flapjack toss and kick to chest, only the kick didn’t hit the chest. Rey Cometa sold it like a foul so there was no choice but to call the DQ, but it was fluke ending to a match.
Not much going on. I watched Valiente/Mephisto last night – it was good! – but that was from a few weeks ago and they’re no sign of the usual monthly big match here. maybe they’ll throw together something next week.
CMLL (TUE) 10/14/2014Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Metatrón & Star Jr. b Akuma & Ráfaga Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Meteoro b Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito Tecnicos took 2/3, Astral beating Pierrothito.
3) Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado b Esfinge, Gallo, Omar Brunetti Rudos took 1/3, Pierroth beat Gallo.
4) Máximo b Rey Bucanero Maximo took 2/3, winning the last in a kiss filled finished.
5) Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero b Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Titán Guerreros took 1/3.
El Rayo, Vida de Lucha, the ‘reality’ show on Rayo de Plata promotions in San Luis Potosi is coming back for a second season. They list a premiere date of “first quarter 2015”, which probably means they’ve already started taping. Last season was 13 episodes, no mention of how many episodes this time. Apparently it did very well on video on demand.
Over on the UKFF forum, a thread about with one of the people who ran the Wrestling Channel mentions the process of getting CMLL onto the station: they started out talking to Paco Alonso, but were passed over to Sandra Granados (who remains the head of the press department) and was hard to reach. TWC offered $800 an episode, CMLL sent them a random bit of episodes, TWC attempted to pay CMLL via the bank details they sent, the bank said the details weren’t correct, TWC tried many times to get ahold of CMLL to get the correct info and CMLL never would respond. They say they tried their best to pay but never could, so they ended up with the CMLL episodes for free. (And then they canceled the show when no one was watching it.)
That is a perfect CMLL story. I wonder how many other times they’ve just failed to get money that was owed to them due to apathy. Also, why haven’t I tried to do for free lucha?
Silver King, who used to team with a Silver King Jr. and declared that he was his son, now says Silver King Jr. is a fraud. Someone didn’t get paid.
Fuego and Mascara Dorada are headed back to NJPW for their Best of Super Juniors tag team tournament. They’ve surprisingly been set on different teams. Mascara Dorada teams with BUSHI versus ROH’s ReDragon team (who seem like they have a good shot to win the entire tournament, so Dorada’s odds aren’t great.) Fuego teams with Ryusuke Taguchi – Taguchi’s old partner moved to Florida to learn how to drive or something, so they brought in someone who can dance with him. They face Taichi and Desperado in the first round, though Taguchi was hurt on the last NJPW show and seems to be a question mark here. The first round match ups are on 10/25, the semifinals are on 11/01 and 11/02, and the final is on 11/03. The entire tour goes to the 8th, so Fuego and Dorada are probably out of CMLL after next Tuesday’s show until the Puebla show on 11/10 or the Tuesday shows on the 11th.

5) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente UG pulled Atlanti’s mask and rolled him up for the win.
TV is more than month behind reality, but it was interesting to see a low turnout here on the TV taped right before the Anniversary show. There wasn’t much more interest in the general product before the mask match (maybe less) and it doesn’t seem that much different last night. The hard camera position doesn’t help – it seems like most people here are seated to the camera left and the camera right (and the Porras are in the balconies in that position – so it’s probably never quite as empty as it looks on the static shot. Still, all evidence points towards the stipulation itself being more over than the Ultimo Guerrero/Atlantis feud. We’ll probably get more evidence in a couple weeks.
CMLL hypes tonight’s Arena Mexico around Hechicero’s new mask. It’s a nice new mask. Probably need more than that. Main event is Peste Negra (Felino, Casas, Cavernario) vs Atlantis, Valiente, and Stuka. They might be setting up a Atlantis match here too, as much as they’re setting up anything. Hechicero teams with Rey Escorpion and Bobby Zavala versus Angel de Oro, Delta and Guerrero Maya in the best chance for a good trios match. Niebla Roja and Rey Cometa meet in the lightning match, and it’s worth checking out CMLL’s YouTube channel around 9pm CT tonight to see if they’ve posted that match. Japanese visitors Makoto & Narumiya debut in the tercera. They made it to Arena Mexico in time for a tiring training session yesterday. Guadalajara has Guerreros vs Titan, Marco, and Azul and a Bucanero/Maximo singles match. Will Maximo lose immediately after winning a tournament? (Possibly.)
Dorian Roldan announced Guerra de Titanes would take place on Sunday December 7th in Zapopan, Jalisco. AAA has run many big shows at the Auditorio Benito Juárez just outside of Guadalajara, most recently Guerra de Titanes 2012 (Chessman beating Vampiro in a six way cage match via fire extinguisher.) Texano Jr. won the Mega championship on that show, and his defense against Alberto el Patron is the first official match for this year’s show.
AAA TV this week announced a 11/17 taping for Leon (and got rid of the one I mentioned previously), which should take them thru the November 29th TV show if they continue taping two weeks of TV at every event. That means there’s probably one more taping in late November prior to Guerra de Titanes and about 4 weeks of TV to set up any other matches. Guerra de Titanes looks to air on TV 12/20 and 12/27, though AAA intends to air it live on iPPV as well.
AAA’s traditional year end taping is usually in Chilpancingo, Guerrero and AAA’s announced a show for Chilpancingo on 12/20, but it’s not listed as a TV taping. It looks like a TV taping level card but they wouldn’t announce a taping lineup this far out.
Diagonal has an interview Okumura and Kamaitachi on a recent trip to Cancun. Okumura says he was good youth baseball pitcher before suffering an arm injury, planned to come to Mexico for only a year, and was going to return to Japan when he broke clavicle but Negro Casas took care of him and convinced him to stay. Kamaitachi claims the first time he ate tacos, he ate 30 of them.
Cavenario says he’s not an overnight success, is looking forward to going to FantasticMania. We’re probably about a month away from hearing more about that show.
Thunder says the real him is a rudo so he’s glad he’s on that side and he knows he needs to improve his Spanish if he’s going to stay in Mexico.
CMLL (MON) 10/20/2014Arena Puebla
1) Arkalis & Milenium vs Blue Center & Guerrero Espacial
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Starman, Súper Halcón Jr. vs Akrón, King Jaguar, Siki Ozama Jr.
3) Blue Panther, Fuego, Tritón vs Kamaitachi, Okumura, Olímpico
4) Diamante Azul, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Hombre sin Nombre, Kráneo, Morphosis
5) Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente vs Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
More Atlantis/Guerrero.
Like Olimpico, Morphisis hasn’t been to Arena Mexico since June. Unlike Olimpico, Morphosis isn’t booked in Guadalajara. He’s getting about a booking per night (and working a lot of indy shows.) I don’t think the Invasors are going to win their war.
Cara Lucha (SAT) 10/18/2014Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal
1) Magnifico I & Magnifico II vs Hombre Bala Jr. & Súper Halcón Jr. and Andy Boy & Danger and Oro Jr. & Star Jr. and Belial & Impulso and Kilvan & Yoruba and Fly Star & Toxin Boy andLátigo & Rayo Star [Copa Caralucha de Parejas] 8 team tournament
2) Súper Nova vs Trauma II
3) Aeroboy & Flamita vs Rey Cometa & Tritón
4) Extreme Tiger vs Cavernario
Full card for previously announced show. The main event was originally a trios but was split into a singles and a tag, both which could be found. The full list of participants in the tag team tournament are on the poster, though they’re still doing promos with each team: the modified Sky Stars (Latigo Stars?) are the seventh entrant, so we’re just short a promo from La Resistianca team of Yoruba & Kilvan. (Why do the indy teams have names but the CMLL teams do not? Get on it, Star & Oro.) There’s also a promo with Xtreme Tiger on his new singles match with Cavernario.
