I didn’t expect we’d see Triton here but it doesn’t seem like a great sign.

NJPW and CMLL had a meeting at CMLL’s offices on Friday. Tiger Hattori and Naoki Sugabayashi were pictured meeting with Paco Alonso  and Panico. (BUSHI was also around Mexico this weekend – he posted a photo of a dinner with Maximo at an excellent Korean BBQ.) The article teases it as talk about FantasticaMania and perhaps more than that. The list of wrestlers going over for FantasticaMania usually comes out after the next NJPW tour, so it’d make sense for them to work that out now. I wonder if the topic of NJPW wrestlers in CMLL might come up. Outside of Kamaitachi, no NJPW wrestler has been to CMLL in a year. I was told this was a CMLL call, feeling they had so many wrestlers – and so many foreign wrestlers with Marco and Thunder – that they didn’t want to take on anyone else. (This issue doesn’t seem to apply to either Mr. Cacao or the REINA women.) NJPW has it’s own issues with an crowded roster but has still been using CMLL wrestlers.

Speaking of them, CMLL preview of today’s Arena Mexico show builds the main event off Thunder and Marco Corleone facing off. The full main event is Angel de Oro, Atlantis, and Marco versus Rey Escorpion, Shocker and Thunder. Cachorro vs Virus is tonight’s lightning match and possibly the best match on the show – I’ll post it on Twitter after CMLL uploads it.

There’s a 15 second promo airing on Unimas for Lucha Underground. It’s really happening

Following up on the TV vignette, there’s an Electroshock text interview where he also teases retirement. Electroshock says he was upset about losing at TripleMania, upset about the crowd cheering Mesias over him, upset that none of this would’ve happened if Antonio Pena was till around. Electroshock says he doesn’t like AAA, Sociedad, Mesias or Cibernetico and suggests he may be retiring. It seems more likely building to some change to freshen up his character.

Black Terry has photos of a Monday night show at Arena de Lucha Libre Jesus Carranza in Mexico City and and video of drunk? antics.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and this week’s PosterMania.

Jack Evans is a new dad.

This week’s Box Y Lucha and Luchas 2000 have Heroes Inmortales results on the corner. Not much WWE, but maybe that’ll be more next week.

Ultimo Guerrero’s weekend included fouling Atlantis in Arena Lopez Mateos and losing to a local wrestler in Morelos.

CMLL posted highlight videos of the past week. Diamante Azul is #1 on their top 10 list for some reason, Xavier Cruz Jr. & Acertijo are 10th.

AAA’s schedule now includes the 11/17 Leon, 11/22 Tlaxcala and 11/28 Gimansio Juan de la Barrera tapings. No matches yet; maybe next week for those?

A sports show was taping something lucha related at Arena Lopez Mateos.

Rey Misterio Sr. called the current lucha libre in Auditorio de Tijuana “a disgrace” and said people area only in lucha for the money now. (The people only in it for the money now who would seem to include people who sell their names and bill them as their sons for extra money, I’d have to guess.)

Corsario de Fuego kept the NWA Mexico Welterweight Championship in Xalapa.

DJ Spectro has a post about Mora Promotions bringing together all three Mexico City based promotions for the first in one show in 1986. I think it was PWO where there was a recent thread asking about how UWA and EMLL ended up working together – this seems like the lead in to that, but maybe someone should ask Spectro for what he thinks happened.

The De 2 A 3 Caidas tries to figure out what’s next for CMLL and AAA.

The DTU press conference is Friday at 3pm.

Today is the 59th Anniversary of Arena Coliseo Monterrey’s founding.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 10/27/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano & Paris vs Centauro de Fuego & Guerrero Espacial
2) Leono, Robin, Starman vs Ares, Rey Apocalipsis, Toro Bill Jr.
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Stigma vs Kráneo, Morphosis, Pólvora
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Shocker
5) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero © vs Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente [CMLL TRIOS]

This would be the third defense for the champs and it’s likely they get it. Rey Apocalispis gets his first segunda here. The young Puebla locals seem generally much better than they were earlier this year, but they specifically have something in Rey Apocalispis. He’s very good already, though this will be a different sort of test facing an all CMLL DF trio.

  1. Should be so easy for CMLL. Get rid of Thunder and open up at least one spot… hell, just drop him off in Ciudad Juarez and save the airfare…

-= signed the 4th cousin of El Hijo del Rey Misterio… it was far less expensive that being his son…
