Verano de Escandalo, CMLL preview, Aerostar, Angel de Oro

No Puebla results today. Cinco Radio was covering ping pong. Periodico Enfoque also skipped the show. El Popular seems to have stopped covering lucha libre for the moment. Even the guy behind Porra Fresa didn’t go – he got a promotion that moved him to Mexico City, which means he won’t be the guy leading Porra Fresa as much. Hope CMLL posts them this week – it’s amazing how they know immediately what will be booked for next week’s Puebla show without apparently knowing what happened on the show.

El Mundo de Orizaba has a lineup for Verano de Escandalo. It’s the same lineup that was posted here yesterday, which AAA later declared unofficial. Unofficial doesn’t mean false. It’s possible the newspaper found the lineup themselves and wasn’t given it to AAA, but “De la Redacción” in this context almost always means “a promoter wrote this and sent it to the media outlet.” Local promoter, probably.

The problem here isn’t other people spoiling – the problem is AAA taking too long to announce this card. This show is 11 days away, the local promoter needs to start promoting if they’re selling tickets for this thing, and they need some sort of lineup to do it. As soon as the lineup goes to the local promoter, it’s getting out somewhere – the whole point of it is to get the word out. There’s really nothing on that card that can’t be announced today except for that one guy’s name, and they kind of gave that away Saturday.

Tonight’s CMLL show has Diamante Azul versus Terrible as the main event. It’s the Azul title – the NWA Historic Light Heavyweight championship – so Azul is likely winning. Azul could really use a good match. The undercard includes the Mexico City debut for Guadalajara’s Esfinge. This show is not expected to be on Terra. It’s back to waiting for CadenaTres to see these shows, and the Panther/Puma lightning match is unlikely to air anywhere.

An AAA interview with Aerostar alludes to earning a match against Daga for the cruiserweight champion, so Daga is still the cruiserweight champion and around. I have no idea what happened last Saturday. No one has any idea, would be cool if AAA did one of these interviews with Daga to explain what’s up. Aerostar also mentions he sure would like to face Super Fly at Verano de Escandalo. I like his chances.

R de Rudo, The Gladiatores and SuperLuchas have pieces marking the one year anniversary of Hector Garza’s passing.

Segunda Caida gets to Rush vs Shocker and starts a En Busca de un Idolo recap.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and this week’s PosterMania.

Doradafan has highlights of 04/29/14 CMLL.

+LuchaTV has Volador challenging Rush & Sombra (he’s not interested in La Mascara and not that much in Rush, but still likes the idea of putting his career on the line versus Sombra), X-Fly getting his haircut, and Hijo del Pirata celebrating his win.

Pequeno Cobra was unmasked in Puebla.

Ultimo Guerrero is not that concerned about losing his mask, joking “I’m better looking than Shocker.”

Lucha Libre in Japan

05/25 WNC-REINA: Amapola b Maki Narumiya [CMLL-REINA INTL] – first defense.

IWRG (SUN) 06/01/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Látigo & Metaleon vs Atomic Star & Electro Boy
2) Dragoncito De Oro & Mini Cobra vs Mini Imperium & Oficialito AK47
3) Alan Extreme, Dr. Cerebro, Relámpago vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo
4) Máscara Sagrada, Pantera, Veneno vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Trauma I, Trauma II
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Grond XXX, Hijo De Dos Caras vs Demon Clown, Eterno, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000

This card looks like someone wanted a lot of names and wasn’t so concerned about the matches being any good (because the matches do not look good.)

CMLL (MON) 06/02/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Flyer & Robin vs Fuerza Chicana & Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Astral, Asturiano, Eléctrico vs Blue Center, Pequeño Warrior, Saurón
3) Rey Cometa, Stigma, Stuka Jr. vs Kamaitachi, Puma, Shigeo Okumura
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Titán vs Kráneo, Morphosis, Ripper
5) Atlantis, La Sombra, Marco Corleone vs Pólvora, Rey Escorpión, Shocker

Angel de Oro! Remember him? He won the precursor to En Busca de un Idolo and Reyes del Aire and was pushed as a upcoming young star, but then he hurt a knee and decided to wrestle the same exact match every night. That last part was not great. Hopefully this means his knee is better – this is his first match since late November. Teaming with Titan is a little bit interesting, since Titan has essentially become what they hoped from Angel de Oro.

Segunda feud has switched from Puebla vs locals to tecnicos vs rudos.
