***Rey de Reyes, 2014***
1) Alan Stone, Dinastía, Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata b Mamba, Mini Charly Manson, Sexy Star, Silver King
Alan Stone replaced El Elegido. Pimpi beat Mamba. Sexy Star & Pentagon attack Faby Apache to repeat their challenge from previous TV shows. Pentagon Jr. said he would not rest until AAA finally booked the mixed tag title match.
2) Daga b ArgenisAustralian SuicideSúper Fly [AAA CRUISER]
Daga is champion. Taya got on the show by accompanying Daga. Daga beat Argenis, Super Fly (armbar), and Suicide (top rope Destroyer) in order. Pentagon attacked Suicide after the match, and Drago & Faby Apache ran them off. Faby then challenged Daga to a title match. Daga attacked, Faby got the better of him, and Daga got away. Daga’s 4th defense, first on TV.
3) Chessman b Villano IV [AAA LA]
Villano IV replaced Blue Demon Jr., facing Chessman for the vacant title. Demon appeared in a pre-tape, vacating the title and saying he couldn’t be there due to family issues. He’s the second straight champion to vacant (following LA Park, who was champion when his contract expired.) Match was moved to earlier in the card and was a violent bloody match. Seconds appeared to be Fantasma and Alan Stone. Chessman is the 4th Champion.
4) Steve Pain L FénixCrazy BoyJoe LiderNiño HamburguesaJuventud GuerreraPentagón Jr.Eterno [cage, domed cage, hair, mask]
They had immnese problems setting up the cage; it was 45 minutes between the end of the previous match and the luchadors entering for this one. Order of escape went Gladiador, Hamburguesa (with help from Alan, Argenis, and Suicide), Crazy Boy, Eterno, Joe Lider, Pentagon

CMLL (SUN) 03/16 Arena México [CMLL, LuchaWorldYahoo! Deportes]
1) Leono & Metálico b Apocalipsis & Espanto Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3
2) Demus 3:16, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Astral, Eléctrico, Shockercito
Rudos took 1/3. Warrior got away with a foul on Shockercito (after they both botched a plancha, not the first problem they had in the match.)
3) Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Sagrado b Boby Zavala, Puma, Tiger
Tecnicos took 2/3. Sagrado used a new strange finishing move to beat Tiger in a good match, best of the night.
4) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Titán b Ephesto, Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Tecnicos took 2/3. A lot of Rey Escorpion/Atlantis feuding to set up the trios title.
5) Kráneo, Negro Casas, Niebla Roja b Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush
Rush fouled Casas for the DQ. Rush briefly went after Casas’ arm after the match. Both exchanged insults in post match promos.
6) Volador Jr. b Ripper
Volador, dressed as The Flash, won falls 1/3 clean, the last with a backcracer. Mostly their previous match. Crowd was not into this one much at all following the Rush/Casas stuff.

None of the H2L videos were shown during the show, except at the very start. Announcers pushed it hard all broadcast though.

The Negro Casas out of H2L situation is not working for anyone but me, a lot like last year’s Anniversary show. I don’t want a triangle match, I want Rush contra Shocker and then Rush contra Negro Casas in full length matches, just like I wanted to see Volador contra Sombra. That works for me. At the same time, the vast majority of people are totally confused as to why this triangle match isn’t happening while Negro Casas is selling no injury and appears to be 100%. CMLL has a reason why this is happening, but has not convinced many this is a valid reason. They’ve done a poor job of telling their own stories, as usual.

CMLL (SUN) 03/16/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Explosivo b El Yaqui
2) Demonio Rojo b El Brillante
3) Idolo & Javier Cruz DQ Espectrum & Exterminador
Exterminador replaced Infierno. Tecnicos took 1/3, the last when Espectrum fouled Cruz Jr.
4) Metatrón, Sky Kid, Smaker b Magnum, Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Stuka Jr. b Ráfaga [OCCIDENTE LH]
Stuka took falls 1/3 to win the championship from Rafaga. Stuka challenged Rafaga to a mask vs mask match, but Rafaga would not agree.
6) La Sombra, Rey Cometa, Soberano Jr. b Cavernario, Felino, Herodes Jr.
Tecnicos took 1/3.

Stuka winning is a little bit of surprised; I’d guess that makes it less likely they’re going to do the Stuka/Rafaga mask match, because Rafaga can’t be losing twice in a row (unless he’s just retiring.)

Oficial AK-47 lost his hair to Tony Rivera in IWRG’s Golfo de Guerra. AK-47 only ended up in the final because he and Rivera screwed up trying to trap Terry in the cage and failed, then Tony won another hair match. AK-47 just lost his hair back in January.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 03/23/2014 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Sensei vs El Rebelde & Espiritu Negro
2) Fantasy, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior
3) Dark Angel, Estrellita, Goya Kong vs Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit, Zeuxis
4) Sagrado vs Virus [lightning]
5) La Sombra, Super Porky, Valiente vs Felino, Olímpico, Ripper
6) Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Máximo vs Averno, Pólvora, Rey Escorpión

CMLL on Terra mentioned the annual Arena Coliseo anniversary show would be on 04/06 (the same night as WWE’s WrestleMania, again.) They probably will run some match of significance. Shockercito and Pequeno Warrior are back facing each other, which should not count as a match of significance. Warrior’s apuesta matches, and there’s been quite a few, have not been good.

Virus singles match alert! Do that match instead. Fans of Sexy Team will be disappointed if the HD in Coliseo isn’t fixed next week. Tecnicos in match five should sweep the rudos, won’t.

Blue Demon & Juice off Rey de Reyes, Mistico explains his abscene, Flamita wins in Japan

Blue Demon will be off tonight’s Rey de Reyes show, with the same unspecified family personal issues which kept him off the WWL shows last week. Demon revealed this in Saturday’s Metro newspaper. AAA hasn’t acknowledged this or explained what they’ll do with the Chessman versus Demon match for the Latin American Championship tonight.

(I guess this means Octagon is not a reliable source of scoops?)

Juventud Guerrera is also off the show; he says the doctors will not permit him to wrestle. AAA hasn’t mentioned this situation either. That makes the cage match 4 on 3, unless they just pull Fenix out of it to do a singles match with Chessman instead.

In other absence news, Mistico la Nueva Era shot down Sin Cara’s (deleted) Twitter message. Sin Cara had briefly alleged Mistico was pulled from the show for being drunk. Mistico responded on Facebook that he was never programmed for the show, the poster on the internet was an error, he doesn’t like the taste of alcohol and he was actually on the beach until 9:15. That’s a pretty good Friday night. and something I translated wrong.

I didn’t believe Sin Cara’s story, but I don’t actually believe this one either. “Typo on the internet” for a full week seems highly unlikely in general. Mistico wasn’t just on the poster, he was also on the preview of the card CMLL press department sent out and they always quietly sneak in any changes to card on that. (I’d guess the posters around the arena had Mistico listed, but I don’t know that for sure.) Mistico was scheduled for this card, he was pulled at some point, we may never know when/why.

Flamita won Dragon Gate’s Open The Brave Gate championship earlier today in Wakayama.
