CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX: 2014-02-08

Maya surprise spear is a great addition

recap

taped 2014-01-28 @ Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
Gallo vs Arkángel de la Muerte: Perfectly OK match which I’ll have no memory of this time next week. Match was a bit better with Arkangel in control, and could’ve used Gallo to show some more personality or identifiable characteristic. He came off as an OK luchador but not a remarkable one. Using a generic CMLL big match nearfall/finish spot for the finish didn’t help in this case.

taped 2014-02-02 @ Arena Coliseo
Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Negro Casas, Puma, Tiger: This rematch wasn’t that much less than last week’s match, but the crowd was very less into it this time. There was more of a focus on the tag teams to set up that feud and the crowd did perk up when Atlantis & Negro were in to end it, but event that wasn’t as hot as last week. This match did still feature a lot of neat tag team spots between the two teams and the stage seems set for a really fun match between them next week.

Valiente Special

La Sombra, Mistico, Valiente vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión: A match with some exciting moments and sometimes some crowd reactions, but this again wasn’t a crowd that was very into the show. The two triple dive bits were very exciting, and the rudos worked had for the técnicos before getting the win. Sombra seemed well in the background on this one, which is weird for him.

Estetas win in Puebla, Mephisto/Mascara, Camaleon

CMLL (MON) 03/03/2014 Arena Puebla [El Popular, Periodico Enfoque, Porra Fresa]
1) Akrón & Fuerza Chicana b Ares & King Jaguar
2) Amapola, Dalys, Princesa Blanca b Estrellita, Lluvia, Marcela
3) Morphosis, Olímpico, Shigeo Okumura b Stigma, Stuka Jr., Tritón
4) Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Último Guerrero b Diamante Azul, La Máscara, Rush
Diamante Azul replaced Maximo. Shocker beat Rush, and Rush wants a singles match here.
5) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente b Cavernario, Felino, Terrible [CMLL TRIOS]
Estetas came in as champions. Terrible replaced Niebla. Fifth defense.

Mr. Niebla’s disappeared from all matches this week, that can’t be good.

Porra Fresa did a recap despite not actually going to show the show. That’s dedication.

CMLL (TUE) 03/04/2014 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Black Panther & Flyer b Apocalipsis & Camorra
Black Panther replaced Dragon Lee.
2) Súper Halcón Jr. b Hijo del Signo [lightning]
3) Lady Afrodita, Marcela, Silueta b Princesa Blanca, Tiffany, Zeuxis
4) Pegasso, Soberano Jr., Valiente b Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
Tecnicos took 1/3, Pegasso beating Virus.
5) Cachorro, Sagrado, Super Porky b Misterioso Jr., Puma, Tiger
Tecnicos took 1/3.
6) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Stuka Jr. b Boby Zavala, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero
Straight falls. Mephisto took La Mascara’s mask and destroyed it for the first fall DQ, Mascara left, rudos took over, Mascara returns and beat Mephisto with a campana for the win. Mascara challenged Mephisto to a MEX LH title match and Mephisto asked.

All tecnico wins, unless I screwed something up. Mascara versus Mephisto might be better if Mascara just disappears for half the match.

CMLL (TUE) 03/04/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl, Informador]
1) Metatrón & Virgo b Demonio Maya & Évola
Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Akuma, Artillero, Súper Comando b Sky Kid, Smaker, Star Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, Comando & Artillero beating Sky Kid & Smaker, then challenging for a title shot!
3) Amapola, Dalys, Princesa Sugheit b Estrellita, Goya Kong, Lluvia
Rudas took 2/3, Dallys using the ropes to beat Estrellita.
4) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. DQ Cavernario, Herodes Jr., Terrible
Tecnicos took 2/3. Cavernario fouled Atlantis in the third.
5) Mistico, Titán, Volador Jr. b Averno, Ephesto, Rey Escorpión
Tecnicos took 2/3, Mistica on Averno.

Peleton del Terror getting big wins is confusing and delightful.

Herodes Jr. mentioned Monday on his Facebook Camaleon was hit by a truck. I thought I saw a mention of Camaleon recovering, but I can’t find it now. There’s no other news about besides Camaleon disappearing from Sunday’s lineup.

Cien Caras will be honored as a legend on CMLL’s big show on 03/21. Just 11 days before, he’ll be wrestling the Psycho Circus in Nuevo Laredo. There have been times of late where what’s advertised as Cien Caras turns out to be Cien Caras Jr. when they get to the ring, but I’m not sure it’s the case this time. Cien has wrestled a handful of matches every year since his “retirement”, CMLL’s not going to uninvite him, and being honored will probably get him more offers in the short term.

Charles Lucero beat Silver Star for Star’s WWA Middleweight Championship.

Hijo del Fantasma & Texano Jr. defeated Elegido & Electroshock in Zacatecas. Elegido replaced Mesias, who’s coming to spot shows even though he’s still in a sling.

Rey Bucanero & Terrible beat Averno & Mephisto at a sparsely attended Arena Neza. The undercard built a Neza vs Naucalpan vs CMLL (Arkangel’s students) feud.

Tigre Uno says he’ll still be able to work in Mexico when it doesn’t conflict with his TNA shows. He debuts (under that name) this weekend on their PPV in a unique Tigre Uno, Great Muta, Seiya Sanada versus Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Chris Sabin. Daniels actually faced Extreme Tiger in his two AAA appearances (here’s one), though that was about 4 years ago.

DTU will hold a raffle to benefit Cerbero Negro at their show this weekend.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 03/09/2014 Arena Naucalpan

5) Golden Magic, Relámpago, Súper Nova vs Apolo Estrada Jr., El Hijo del Diablo, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000

Super Nova/Apolo Estrada feud continues.

Not sure who Sadik Maiden is – thought that was Sadica until I saw she was on the other side – and not sure if this is a new or old Espectrito.

CMLL (MON) 03/10/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Black Tiger, Flyer, Meyer vs Akrón, Fuerza Chicana, Hechicero
2) Asturiano, Milenium, Soberano Jr. vs Espíritu Maligno, Espiritu Negro, Toro Bill Jr.

4) Atlantis, Thunder, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Euforia, Shocker, Último Guerrero

Bufete del Amor against Shocker, Thunder returns, I get my Espiritu & Espiritu tag team. Now add Kamaitachi!

Hechicero versus Black Tiger in the opener could be sneaky good.

CMLL (TUE) 03/11/2014 Arena México
1) Stukita & Último Dragoncito vs Mercurio & Pequeño Nitro
2) Dragon Lee, Metatrón, Oro Jr. vs Canelo Casas, Disturbio, Guerrero Negro Jr.

5) Diamante Azul, Máximo, Titán vs Cavernario, Herodes Jr., Rey Escorpión
6) Mephisto vs La Máscara [MEX LH]
Mephisto is champion. Fifth defense.

Third match has the best shot, though the opener could be good. Too much Misterioso & Pierroth on Nuevo Valores Martes.

CMLL (TUE) 03/11/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Brillante & El Divino vs Demonio Rojo & Sádico
2) Black Metal vs Leo
3) Sky Kid & Smaker vs Artillero & Súper Comando [OCCIDENTE TAG]
Smaker & Sky Kid are champions. Second defense.
4) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Lluvia vs Amapola, Dalys, Princesa Sugheit
5) Negro Casas, Puma, Tiger vs Black Panther, Blue Panther, Cachorro
6) Marco Corleone & Rush vs Rey Bucanero & Shocker

Peleton del Terror going for the gold! Crossing my fingers that makes 52MX. Fifth match should be really good too.
