CMLL (FRI) 01/03/2014 Arena Mexico [@therealfredo, CMLL]
1) Pequeño Violencia & Pequeño Warrior b Fantasy & Pequeño Halcón
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Starman, Stigma, Tritón b Arkángel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Nitro
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr. DQ Boby Zavala, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
tecnicos took 2/3, the last when Zavala yanked off Fuego’s mask.
4) Máximo, Shocker, Super Porky b Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Negro Casas b Titán [Leyenda de Plata, final]
Moved to semimain (and aired on Terra; those two bits may be connected.) Titan submitted Negro in the first, Negro beat Titan with a casita in the second, and Negro won a long competitive third fall to win the tournament. Second Leyenda de Plata for Negro Casas. Casas strongly complimented Titan after the match.
6) Máscara Dorada, Valiente, Volador Jr. b Averno, Mephisto, Último Guerrero
Moved to final. Tecnicos took 2/3.

Leyenda de Plata airing was unexpected and a lot of fun – it was really good match. Crowd was strongly behind Negro Casas but Titan did seem to have his fans and his performance in a loss helped him. So did Casas’ post match speech.

Not much else going on. Tercera was good, opener was not.

YouTube completely deleted luchablog YouTube account. This was disappointing, but I should’ve just deleted the Terra shows before they did another sweep. The plans I mentioned from Friday – Terra to dailymotion/thecubsfan other new stuff to youtube/thecubsfan – are still my plans, but I also want to reupload the six months of footage that was still up. That’ll take a good deal of time, but I’m already working on it. You may want to subscribe to https://www.youtube.com/user/luchablogvault.

Nothing directly CMLL related on the 01/04 NJPW Tokyo Dome show. Their new El Desperado character, who I thought would be Namajague, is said to be too short to be him and probably is someone else. Hope Namajague turns up in some role by FantasticaMania.

My mental block here is the original Leyenda de Plata rules where the previous year’s winner faced the tournament winner as pat of the tournament every year. (And, for the first few years, the tournament winner would always win.) That’s not what they were hyping here. This time, Negro Casas has won the tournament and nothing is on the line between him and Volador Jr., it’s just happening as a sort of reward I guess.

Mistico’s back just in time. Again, many of the guys will be off to Japan this time next week.
