2010 AAA TV Recap
Projected Air Date (#967)
Mexico: 12/12
US: 12/25

I haven’t been on the boards today, so this may have been posted on one of those first, but I saw it on En El Ring.

With the obvious exception of the second match, everything makes sense based on the TV angles they’ve done so far. Super Fly on the rudo team is no surprise, but unless they did a backstage angle to explain it in Leon, they won’t have actually done the turn before this show happens. After all this build up, forgetting to do the actual turn is just about right.

Once Lider brought in a ladder for no reason, it was pretty obvious they were doing a multiteam ladder match soon. I’d guess Ozz & Cuervo would be in this too if they weren’t in a different country.

Mystery man is a New Bizarro. Tecnico side are the guys who the Bizarros have attacked (plus Tiger.)

First time Mesias & Park have had a singles match. That’s really the second biggest match on the show.

Cage match does NOT have hair or masks on the line. When this feud started, it seemed very likely the Perros would be the ones to finally end the streak. Not nearly as likely with X-Fly involved.

Zorro and Dr. Wagner theoretically could have title singles matches for two straight Sundays. They could be in the Lucha Libre Premier finals tomorrow and this title match on Sunday, which may tell you all you need to know about who’s actually going to be in those finals. We like Zorro, but he seems to be just a guy to get to be a challenger here and it’d be a surprise if the title changes hands.

It’s a bit surprising AAA didn’t just use up Chessman’s title match here. If they’re going to adhere to their own rules, Chessman now must cash in the title shot at Rey de Reyes. (They may not.)

  1. I like it. I like it a lot. Seems like a fresh lineup compared to the rest of their major shows this year. Nice to see guys like Gato Eveready, Octagoncito, Decnis, Aero Star and Extreme Tiger making the show since they’ve been the hardest working guys on recent TV. More importantly, as you noted, every match seems to have been built on TV and makes sense. Not like their usual major shows where you have 2 or 3 matches loosely based off TV and everything else is filler.

It’d be one of the greatest cons in history if the PdM can talk their way into having themselves booked to beat the Psycho Circus here. Especially with fill-in X-Fly on the team. At this point the winning streak means nothing but it’d still be quite the accomplishment to have the Perros B-team get the victory.

BTW, match #2 is a street fight. I presume match #5 will turn into a street fight. And match #6 is a weapons cage match.

Match order will be important here b/c Mesias/Park are obviously going to go long and do the “epic” match with tons of weapons, big moves and nearfalls. It’d be a huge mistake to put them second last right before Wagner/Zorro.

  2. I’m surprised at no Apaches. I know they are having a off again/on again feud with the Japanese girls. When was the last time they weren’t on a major show? Also, I’m guessing Perro is really done if X-Fly is going to be in the Clowns match?

We having a live chat for this?

  3. @Tim: I’d rather have the live chat on Friday for the CMLL show. Not sure I want to do two. May be persuaded.

  4. Jennifer Blake looks like an 80’s valet. Kind of like Precious.

The GdT logo is great. I’d buy the shirt.
