Comandante Pierroth unable to roll

recap

taped 2013-11-19 @ Arena Mexico
Eléctrico, Pequeño Halcón, Último Dragoncito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior: Another lackluster CMLL minis match. Rudos didn’t get into totally screwing around mode until the second fall but got there. Crowd did not care at all about the técnicos. Tedious to watch.

Terrible can’t stop powerbombing Titan

Estrellita, La Seductora, Marcela vs Amapola, Dalys, Princesa Sugheit: Obviously pointless match as soon as Seductora showed up on the técnicas side. They took longer to get to the turn than expected, but then did it with little build up. Not like it derailed a good match either.

Mascara Dorada puts his head into the tope

Delta, Diamante Azul, Titán vs Ephesto, Pierroth, Terrible: Titan is crazy for taking that powerbomb to the floor, especially given Azul and Delta wouldn’t be high on ht list of people you’d want to catch him. This match seemed a bit beneath Terrible, and he took advantage by destroying people. Titan versus Terrible is not a match CMLL would seriously pursue because of the size difference but is actually an entertaining possibility just because of that. Pierroth is awful and having him work with Azul doesn’t help things.

no idea what this is

Máximo, Super Porky, Thunder vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpión, Tama Tonga: If you like people being whipped into the barricade, this is the match for you. This match continues the switch over from Brazo de Plata versus Rey Escorpion to Máximo versus Rey Escorpion. The new one isn’t as interesting. Not even as much comedy as you’d expect.

all the piledrivers

Máscara Dorada vs Volador Jr. for the NWA World Welterweight Championship: There were 14 moves (or spots or whatever) in this match from Dorada’s diving headscissors off the ramp to the floor to Volador’s Spanish Fly. Those 14 spots followed a perfect pattern – Dorada does a move, then Volador does a move, then Dorada does a move, then Volador does a move, then the whole thing keeps repeating until it feels very fake. This was an athletic and entertaining good match at times, but nothing is taking me out of the ‘big title matches’ more than the predictability of how they’re laid out. I didn’t need to be surprised to like a match, but it has to feel like a competition and not a move doing exhibition and this drifted into the later category. I guess the story of the match is if you can do two straight moves – or three! – you can actually win the match. The crowd liked this a lot and you may too, but it did not interest me as much as it should given the talent involved.
