top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. AAA taped in Queretaro, their second to last taping before their last major show of the year. The only match announced for Guerra de Titanes is Electroshock challenging the returning Blue Demon for the dormant Latin American championship. Fenix won in the main event, pinning the least important member of la Secta. A womens/exoticos apuesta match continues to build in the opening match.
  2. La Mascara & Rush kept the tag team titles over Tama Tonga & Terrible, with Rush faking foul to win. This apparently ends the Rush/Tonga feud for now, because Rush has returned to feuding with Negro Casas.
  3. Ricky Marvin defeated Belial in the main event of last weekend’s Chilangamask show in what was said to be a great match. Rey Cometa versus Impluso was said to also be great.
  4. Rush beat Shocker in Puebla, but lost again to Terrible for the heavyweight title in Guadalajara
  5. CMLL debuted on Azteca America. They’re matches from the Friday night shows and already airing out of order.
  6. Dr. Wagner declared he was going to invade CMLL, then showed up at an Arena Naucalpan show to challenge Mr. Niebla. It still seems like a stretch that Wagner will make it to Arena Mexico, but maybe CMLL okayed Niebla vs Wagner matches elsewhere.
  • Mistico, Volador Jr., Mascara Dorada, Rush, La Sombra, Mascara Dorada, Titan, Maximo, Ultimo Guerrero, Mephisto, Rey Escorpion, Okumura, Stuka Jr., Rey Cometa, Fuego, Vangellys and Niebla Roja will be on the FantasticaMania shows.
  • Dos Caras won in the first of a series of retirement matches in Arena Lopez Mateos.
  • CMLL lists someone named “Psyco Ripper” as wrestling on Friday. No one has any idea who this is.
  • NWA Mexico folded.
  • EAW returned, ran shows in Sonora to low attendances, will now disappear again.
  • Joe Lider took Angel o Demonio’s hair.
  • IWRG’s Canis Lupus beat CMLL’s Guerrero Maya Jr. to keep the IWRG IC Welterweight championship, with AAA’s Eterno in Lupus’ corner. This is kind of surprising if you stop to think about it, so the people in charge obviously did not.
