Estrellita vs Princesa Sugheit for the Mexican National Women’s Championship: Crowd seemed even less interested int his match on TV than they did live. It’s the same story with Estrellita; they crowd likes seeing her, but they don’t seem interested in the match. She’s also not very good. To be fair, Princesa Sugheit also did not seem interested in the match. This division is very tedious.
Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente vs Kráneo, Psicosis, Volador Jr.: Cut down a lot, especially in the first fall, but it still left a pretty fun third fall. The triple tope to one rudo spot looks great, as did the técnicos the rest of the match. Rudos were good and effective. CMLL seems to have abandoned this title program but it’d be nice to see it brought back at some point.
Marco Corleone vs Mr. Niebla: I forgot about Marco putting his feet on the ropes to get a pinfall here. It felt like Niebla was trying to work more rudo than usual the early part of the match to try and turn the crowd, but that flies counter to it. The crowd really didn’t want to cheer for Marco and Niebla and they knew enough to have Marco do the one big rudo spot, but they really should’ve gone all the way for it the night. Instead, we got a CMLL técnico being booed because it’s really the other guy they like. Match itself was fine but far more limited than you’d like – felt like just punches and chops for the first two falls, but it did get more varied in the third.
