recap

taped 2013-09-03 @ Arena Mexico

hahaha (this show is terrible)

Aéreo & Pequeño Halcón vs Pequeño Violencia & Pequeño Warrior: Way too long opening match with nothing of interest happening. Rudos seemed disinterested and match weirdly had the rudos getting in their beatdown offense in the fall after their beatdown. (Also, a horribly blown spot.) Low intensity. Aereo looks especially skinny nowadays. Rudos screw up, but get it back together long enough or Warrior to get in his legdrop to the outside. Aereo awkwardly puts himself into Violencia’s held for the other submission. The twenty count to count out Halcón takes much longer than that.

teamwork!

Pegasso, Starman, Stigma vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Canelo Casas, Disturbio: if you build a spot to a triple dive and then don’t do it for no stated reason (except the primera/segunda dive ban that’s never been said), you kind of look really dumb. That’s what happened in the second fall of this otherwise unnoteworthy match. Canelo is clearly getting boosted to a better position than his age peers – he seems booked higher than most of Generation 2012 – but appears capable of pulling it off. He’s rough still but fit in fine enough.

Averno celebrates slapping a restrained man

Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado vs Namajague, Puma, Virus: had some good moments and looked like it could’ve been a good match, but never really got rolling enough to make it work. Everything from this point on was shorter than usual, maybe because the earlier matches went long or maybe because these are the guys who have better things to do, but it didn’t help the matches. Guys seemed lost for a section of the third fall but the finish came together well.

this has reached ‘gif every time’ status

Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Thunder vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: Nothing but a build up trios match – Dorada and Thunder both did little, and Ephesto and Mephisto were primarily responsible for holding Panther in place – and the build up stuff that’s exciting anticipating a show is not so exciting after it. (This is also just not a good show.) This was a very slight match.

Valiente destroys Vangelis with a quick tope

Rush, Terrible, Vangellys vs Negro Casas, Shocker, Valiente in a relevos increíbles match: the most interesting match of the night by far, but still a bit of randomness because of the stipulations. Rush and Negro remain fun and this was part of a secret build to Terrible versus Shocker. Still, this match and this show is easy to skip by.
