Not too many details on the show. They held the moment of applause after the sixth match.

No one has full results from Arena Puebla but Black Terry Jr. has a lot of photos. Team CMLL beat Team El Toreo in what was said to be a good match. Dallys had problems with her partners in the women’s match.

CMLL’s show tonight will be free with a food/hygiene donation for those people suffering from hurricane/rain damage. They have a specific list of items they’re looking for (no bottled water or medication.) This follows AAA’s lead, which did something similar with the Plan Sexenal taping.

The show is built around the second block of the #1 contenders tag team tournament. Averno & Ephesto are the favorites, though Dragon Rojo & Rey Escorpion also could advance to face Averno & La Sombra next week. The main event is Sombra, Valiente, Angel de Oro versus Volador, Euforia, Ultimo Guerrero.

El Sol del Puebla goes over the Heroes Inmortales lineup, mentions the mystery man as “said to be Australian”. Must be Australian Suicide, who should be good against Daga.

AAA’s webcast interview with Faby Apache was interrupted by a La Secta run-in, and ended early. I flipped over too late to find out what the deal was, but it seemed like it had to be more Cuervo/Faby arguing. As mentioned in interviews, Scoria is injured (arm in a sling) and seems unlikely to wrestle on Wednesday’s TV taping in SLP.

There’s an researched American Economia article about 80 years of lucha libre. It seems like it might be an old article slightly updated in some places – the article ends talking about Olimpico, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero and Satanico as the big stars of today, which sound more like the big stars from around the 70th Anniversary. They do include a quote I’ve seen elsewhere recently where CMLL claims to draw 600,000 fans a year. That’s about 3800 per show, if they’re only counting the three weekly Mexico City shows. They’re definitely averaging under that on Tuesdays and probably Sundays, but maybe Fridays and the occasional big shows make it closer.

People Who Are Mysteriously Absent, Part 1: Silueta’s matches since June 18
06-18: @ Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
07-02: @ Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
07-16: @ Arena Mexico
08-16: @ Arena Mexico

That’s 4 matches over 105 days and none in six weeks. At least some of what’s happened is CMLL focusing on Marcela and Dallys because of the split, and more tecnicas spots will open up once Dallys finally turns, but this is still kind of bizarre. CMLL still could’ve found a match or two for her. (Goya’s worked 17 matches in the big arenas in that same stretch for context.) Lady Apache, after leaving CMLL, made comments about CMLL favoring the younger luchadoras but that doesn’t seem quite right. Goya’s an exception, but Silueta’s not used much, Lluvia has been used just barely more, and Zeuxis seems to spend more time in Japan. There are definitely favorites but the new women are not among them.

People Who Are Mysteriously Absent, Part 2: this is harder to track because there’s at least one other guy using his old name Tribal – or he’s been booked so little as Jinzo that he’s gone back? Jinzo didn’t exactly stop turning up when he revealed he had also been Tribal, but he hasn’t been on the DTU shows since August, and AAA since May. The bit of changing his look seemingly for AAA and then not being used by AAA makes this seem extra weird.

Marcela is headed back to New York on October 19? (That might mean whatever Dallys/Marcela is setting up won’t be happening on Friday the 18th.)

The 10/03 Arena Lopez Mateos show has been canceled. This was a show with Daga, Perro and Hijo del Lizmark versus Psycho Circus. I don’t think it made it to AAA’s spot show, which might have meant there were issues early on.

Mascarita Dorada debuted last night in WWE as El Torito. The match didn’t get over well but everyone seemed interested in El Torito. It seems like it’s going to be a pretty easy spot for him; they didn’t have Torito do more than bounce around on the ropes last night.

Violento Jack talks about his “departure from DTU” (more about wanting to assert his own independence) and where he plans on being in five years (retired!)

ChilangaMask’ next show will be on 11/17 with Black Terry vs Solar. They’re promoting it as first time ever, which may not exactly be correct but I’m willing to pretend to get it to happen.

Rob has highlights of 08/06/13 CMLL.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and Poster-mania.

Ohtani’s Jacket watches some Mocha Cota from the 80s DVD set.

The Arena Pavillon del Norte (60?) anniversary show drew a near sellout with Negro Navarro, Traumas, Titan, Triton, and the Tuareg.

Cirujano & Oro Azul beat Skayde and Turbo in a special Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi show. Might have been their local Anniversary show – Astro Latino beat Cerebro Negro, Freelance and Mike Segura in the semimain for a 57th Anniversary trophy.

Rey Escorpion either beat Ultimo Guerrero or lost by DQ on Sunday night. Revolucionarios interfered, recaps differ if they got away with it. Isis appears to have made her debut in a loss earlier on the card (but rebounded to foul Polvora to give the Tuareg a win later on.)

However, it looks like Isis might have actually debuted earlier that day in a show at Gimansio Juan Barrera, the start of a new promotion attended by very few. Assuming it’s the same Isis. I don’t recall seeing a mention of this show, which is strange for a building that big (and explains why they didn’t draw at all.) They didn’t have any names on the show, so maybe they didn’t lose Villano V level money.

DJ Spectro writes about La Dama del Silencio’s lucha libre career.

Xtreme Boy bio.

Los Mexican Powers beat the Devil Rockers in the main event of the second Rock y Lucha show. Danny Casas & Super Nova were listed on the card but neither wrestled (so Super Nova’s probably not healthy yet.)

Makabre took Rudy Santana’s hair in Arena Jalisco de Guadalajara.

The main event Wagner/Park vs Carlito/Canek main event in Tijuana ended with a disqualification draw. The semimain ended with a countout of the ring draw.

Arena Xalapa has a four way match where the losing two face off in an apuesta match next week.

A Mil Mascaras movie figure.

09/28-29 lucha videos

AAA Televisa and CMLL Fox Sports overlapped; we got AAA with hopes of getting the missing AAA from Regional and UTDN (and we did get at least some of the show from Regional, which again only went one hour.) Puebla and IWL were pre-empted. Noches de Coliseo moved on to showing the latest WWL show – everything but the Psycho Circus vs Los Boricuas – but we’re still respecting the request not to post those matches.

AAA’s offical UTDN file includes the minis match – but the show UTDN actually broadcast did not. I dunno.

Terra aired Friday’s show with an “HD” quality selection. The problem is it’s not actually HD – the short version is it needs to be 720 pixels wide and the video was only 522 – and YouTube seems like they downgrade it a little bit from the download links here. (The file sizes are bigger, though.)
