Mamba es loco

Faby Apache, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Mamba, Mini Abismo Negro, Taya Valkyrie: Match was generally good mixed trios. Things just kind of looked less than rehearsed in the whole end sequence. Maybe Tirantes is supposed to be so hard rudo that a rudo has to attack him before he’ll even consider counting for the técnicos? It was random; I kind of thing the torito was meant to end it and they were just improvising after that went into the ropes (but maybe CMLL’s instant finishes are swaying me.) Pimpi’s looked his age in other matches but was completely fine here. No problem with Taya either and the others were good. Right amount of time for this match.

Escoria takes backbreakers oddly.

Alan Stone, El Elegido, Toscano vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz: About a normal midcard match. You’d have no idea they were setting up La Secta for something major latter in the show, since they were treated no different than usual. Maybe a little different – usually they’d get the pin and not get to beat up the Mirreyes after the match. Someone must’ve thought it wasn’t strong enough, because that backstage attack felt tacked on but also actually different and stronger than the usual post match attack. (Still, couldn’t they have pinned Alan Stone? Maybe not, since Alan Stone made sure to run off as to not get beat up in ring after the match.)

Adios EITA

Cibernético vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo: A more to the point Perro/Cibernético match – the required crowd brawling, chair shots and bleeding, a billion interference spots to give them an intermission, and then both guys just do their big moves until it’s over. The bit where one side oddly lets the other side set up props shouldn’t be required but was there as always. This is about as good a singles match they’re getting out of Cibernético (and, honestly, maybe not that far off from the best of Perro Aguayo Jr. now.) The postmatch turn came off well. The whole Cuervo/Faby romance may have been justified by La Secta’s attack on her here, because it definitely took this attack to another level beyond the usual rudo beatdown. They cut it off at the right time (but still should’ve left out the clip of the técnicos back on their feet after the fact.)
