Mexico preview, Tiger, lineups

Mr. Niebla beat Rush last night in Puebla. Looks like it was via foul.

Dragon Celestial & Fulgor II defeated Emperador Azteca & Sky Angel in the untelevised IWRG opener.

Tonight’s Arena Mexico main event has a preview of an Anniversary match – but it’s fifth biggest match on 09/13. (The bigger news is CMLL has a show with five big matches.) Rush, Terrible and Vangellys are forced to team up against Negro Casas, Shocker, and Valiente tonight. Marco replaces Valiente and the teams get shuffled for the bigger match, but there’s probably something going on with all the relevos increibles matches. They usually set up someone changing sides. Maybe Rush. Maybe Shocker? Blue Panther and Averno also meet in another preview in the semimain and there’s some good matches in the undercard.

Guadalajara has Polvora defending the CMLL Welterweight Championship against Angel de Oro. He should probably keep the title.

Tiger was pulled from Friday’s show for Rey Escorpion. All in/out TRT drama stems from him doing badly in En Busca de un Idolo and the only reason he did not advance is because of the fan vote. He would’ve been top four if just the judges and results counted, and instead seems to be in weird limbo because none of his fans or friends figured out how to hack the polling script. (This is the flip side of Titan last year.)

Unfortunate picture from the AAA press conference for Thursday’s Toluca taping. (Better one on this article.) Ticket prices are 80MXP ($6USD) for children and 120 ($9) for adults.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Tonight’s Arena Coliseo Monterrey has women, exoticos and Super Jack in the main event.

Carta Brava IWL talks about the IWL Junior title he won (in a match he wasn’t in.)

Lucha Libre in Japan

In NOAH, Taiji Ishimori has accepted Fenix’s title challenge for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship on 09/22. Ishimori’s interview notes he’s never seen Fenix in action, but saw he was trained by Skayde (who also trained Ishimori) and that was good enough for him. If only Turbo had thought of this!

Jahamle has video of Argenis & Drago challenging Atsushi Aoki & Kotaro Suzuki for the All Asia Tag Team championship. It’s a good match.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 09/08/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Índigo & Javier Cruz vs El Piraña & El Tapatío
2) El Ídolo & León Blanco vs Acertijo & Jocker
3) Gallo & Halcón de Plata vs El Hippie I & El Hippie II and Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno and Demonio Maya & Demonio Rojo [OCCIDENTE TAG, semifinal]
4) Ángel de Oro, Mistico, Rey Cometa vs Felino, Misterioso Jr., Negro Casas

My pick is Los Hippies from this side of the bracket.

CMLL (MON) 09/16/2013 Auditorio Teopanzolco, Cuernavaca, Morelos
1) Ángel de Plata & Cometa vs Rey Tigre & Voltaje
2) Nahual vs Hechicero, Drako, Sioux, Cachorro, Euforico, Eddy Vega, Canelo Casas, Fenix (cuernavaca), Elecktro, Circulo Negro, Fuego Dorado
3) Goya Kong & Marcela vs Princesa Blanca & Princesa Sugheit
4) Máscara Dorada, Sagrado, Shocker vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

This is not an important lineup in itself, but is an amusing add to the pile on of 09/16 shows. Dorada and the Avernos are main eventing this 5pm start time show, but are also main eventing a 2pm show in Mexico City. (Namajague! We should go to that one.) The drive between shows is doable, but it’s more a sign of how a lot of guys are going to be working a lot of shows all over the place that Monday.

TxT (SUN) 09/29/2013 Feria, San Felipe, Torres Mochas, Guanajuato
1) Bracito De Plata & Pequeño Lucky vs Pentagoncito & Piratitia Morgan
2) Centvrión vs Imposible
3) Bobby Lee & Rayman vs Heddi Karaoui & Zumbi
4) Esther Moreno & Lady Apache vs Chik Tormenta & Rossy Moreno
5) El Hijo Del Santo, Höruz, Huracan Ramirez vs Angel Blanco Jr., Cien Caras Jr., El Hijo del Solitario
6) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs LA Park

Listed on the poster as a Cadena3 TV taping. They’ve rarely taped from outside Gimanasio Juan de la Barrera. Not sure if this has something to do with AAA taping there and/or Santo’s response to that.

In theory, this is the first TxT show after either LA Park, Dr. Wagner Jr. or Hijo del Santo have lost their mask in the Zocalo show, which would be a tremendous selling point, and yet there’s no mention of that. This is more the first sign they’re not planning on that happening. The second sign is Santo being asked about if the show is happening and responding “that’s a good question“.

Horuz starts off with a pretty good spot. I’m not sure if Chik Tormenta is back from Japan by this point. Bobby Lee is probably local promoter which gets him onto the card.

  1. I have a question. If Park, Santo or Wagner did lose their mask, which one would be able to still be a big draw maskless?

  2. I think Hijo del Santo,LA Park and Wagner Jr. would still be big draws in the short term, just because people would want to see them maskless. However, Park would lose his magic, just because it’d be weird seeing him in a skeleton outfit and no mask, like Super Parka.Dr. Wagner would do fine ,based on his charisma. Hijo del Santo (never losing his mask,by the way), would be a much bigger draw, because of the Santo name. In my opinion, LA Park is the one that should lose. He’s already lost his mask under different gimmicks, we know his name, and we pretty much know what he looks like, since his mask gets ripped to shreds all the time, and shows more than half his face. Wagner does it too, but not as often. Just my opinion, though.
As for Volador/Sombra, whenever that match is done, I’m going with Volador Jr. losing. I think CMLL should have given Volador a significant mask/hair win these last few years in anticipation for such a big rivalry, like the one with La Sombra.

  3. Santo would be hurt most by losing his mask. Park would put his mask back on whenever he worked in the US and draw fine. Wagner would have a harder time than Park.

Volador and Sombra depend much more on how CMLL uses them maskless. It hurts both but isn’t as fatal if they’re still treated as top stars and get a big win every now and then.
