5) Cibernético & El Mesías vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Psicosis and Cuervo & Ozz

Air Date: I dunno. Let’s say 09/07 for Naucalpan, 09/14 & 09/21 for Toluca, 09/28 & 10/05 for Plan Sexenal, so 10/12 for SLP? Which means this might be the last TV before Heroes Inmortales if it’s in the range of 10/19? For whatever being the last TV means when it’s not a PPV? Unless there’s another taping the weekend of 09/29 we haven’t heard of yet? Let’s stick with “I dunno.”

Theme of the night is three way tag matches. La Secta aren’t yet a big enough deal to be an opposition side on their own, but it can work if there’s the Perros wedged in there as well.

Let’s look at some matches since TripleMania!

07/07 Ecatepec: Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Canek, Silver King, Texano Jr. – Monster pins Psycho
07/15 Tehuacan: Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver King, Texano Jr. – Murder pins Mascara
08/16 Queretaro: Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver King, Texano Jr. – Psycho pins Mascara
08/30 Naucalpan: Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Chessman, Pentagón Jr., Texano Jr. – someone pins Pentagon Jr.

09/05 Toluca: Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver King, Texano Jr.
10/02 SLP: Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Chessman, Silver King, Texano Jr.

Psycho Clown has had four chances to beat Texano Jr. and has failed to beat the right person all four times. He’s getting chance five in Toluca and chance six in SLP. (Unless he gets chance six in Plan Sexenal beforehand, or unless they just do it in Toluca so they can announce the title match ahead of time.) He’s going to actually do it at some point, because there is no alternative being set up and because this sort of running in place is how AAA storylines last years. This one is just more annoying than most.

This might actually be a good title match, but the build is really not doing anyone any favors. Texano is feuding with a trios luchador who’s never had a meaningful win, and Psycho Clown is a guy repeatedly failing, winning once, and then losing in a title match.

The Mystery Gringo listed there might be coming in a little bit before that; a AAA/King Bull Wrestling (Ciudad Madero) show on September 20th also lists A Mystery Gringo in their main event. Which might mean there’s another taping around then, since bringing in a new guy two weeks before he’s on TV seems unlikely. (I guess it’s possible it could be the guy who wins the tryout in a couple weeks, but I’d doubt it.)  That match looks good no matter who they bring in, though it’d be good if they gave the Pain/Eterno/Carta crew something to get themselves over.

Second match has the second trios match. It’ll probably be Fenix’s first TV match since returning from NOAH. Axel has not looked good and can not use the Santo name on penalty of large fine, so I’m not really sure what value he has to AAA. Honestly surprising to see him back. Axel is by far the least of that match, which should be another one.

Traumas win IWRG tag titles, Centviron & Golden Magic rudos, Juvi vs MPowers, AAA on WWE/CMLL/US

IWRG (SUN) 09/01/2013 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), IWRG on AYM]
1) Emperador Azteca & Sky Ángel ?? Dragón Celestial & Fulgore II
2) Charly Madrid, Cristal, Lady Puma vs Hija de Karonte, Lady Sensación, Tigre Lee
Madrid & Lee added to the match. Straight falls win for Lee’s team.
3) Imposible, Picudo Jr., Zafiro b Ángel Dorado, Ángel Dorado Jr., Hijo del Ángel Dorado
4) Chucho el Roto, Iron Love, Psicópata, Rey Krimen, Sádico, Sepulturero I, Terry 2000, Yakuza b Alan Extreme, Bobby Lee Jr., Carta Brava Jr., Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Dr. Cerebro, Golden Magic, Hijo de Pirata Morgan [Copa High Power]
IWRG vs AULL. Eliminations: Alan Extreme (Iron Love submission), Psicopata (Golden Magic missile dropkick), Bobby Lee Jr. (Sepulturero powerbomb), Golden Magic (Rey Krymen arm trap armbar), Rey Krymen (Carta Brava Jr. kneebar), Carta Brava Jr. (Tery 2000 neckrbeaker hold/Iron Love tapatia (Cancerbero combo)), Terry 2000 (Cerbero Driver by Cerebro Negro), Iron Love (Hijo del Pirata Morgan top rope moonsault), Cerebro Negro (Seputurero senton), Sepulturero (Hijo del Pirata Morgaon froncracker), Hijo del Pirata Morgan (Chucho el Roto package piledriver), Iron Love (Centviron lift, Dinamic Black flying front cracker, Centivron German suplex), Dinamic Black (accidentally fouled by Centviron, pinned by Sadico), Centviron (pinned by Yakuza) to give AULL the win. Team IWRG blamed Centviron, but Centviron and Golden Magic attacked Dinamic Black after everyone else left. Centviron and Magic appeared to be rudos going forward.
5) Trauma I & Trauma II DQ Eterno & X-Fly [IWRG IC TAG]
Lots of arguing back and forth about the referee before deciding on Rosas. Traums took 2/3 to win the titles. In the third, Trauma I beat Eterno, X-Fly snuck in a foul on Trauma II, and Trauma I faked a foul from X-Fly. X-Fly & Eterno fall in first defense.

The Traumas are treated as the best tag team in IWRG and really the best tag team on indies, so they probably should’ve been tag team champions already. Lots of title changes by DQ here of late.

AULL vs IWRG match was fun. Golden Magic & Centviron’s turns seemed shocking, but also like changing things up just to do something else and not because they have a big plan. (Like: Centrviron & Golden Magic being set up to be the Traumas next challengers would be cool, but highly unlikely to happen.) Centviron seems like he’ll be fine as a rudo. Golden Magic seems like such a natural tecnico and I’m less convinced he’ll be okay on the rudo side. But it’s IWRG, a good place to be a mean small guy. There sure are a lot of young rudos in the promotion now.

CMLL officially announced the Estetas del Aire versus Revolucinarios del Terror trios title match for the Anniversary show. It’ll slot in the middle of what was the main event: the Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero vs La Sombra & Volador tag match will happen, then trios title match, and then the winners will come back out for the mask match. (Volador could have two outfits!) This appears to be the most loaded show in the history of the promotion: two significant apuesta matches and a significant trios title match is unlike any show they’ve ever done.

The trade off is the Anniversary show is likely to be either longer than normal or feature a lot of shorter than usual matches. Maybe both. Still, as far as getting to see every one and getting to see big matches, this is a pretty great show.

That show will air on Terra, as will this Friday’s with Rush vs Tanahashi. I’m not sure this means the Sunday broadcasts are done, but it sure appears to be the case.

Juventued Guerrera did an interview about his surprise appearance at Arena Naucalpan. Juvi didn’t tell Crazy Boy he was coming and pointed out Juvi was the one who created the Mexican Powers, which came off as if he was stealing the credit for the group’s success (though Juvi denies this intention.) Sounds like Juvi versus the Mexican Powers is coming.

This week’s MLW Radio had a lot of lucha libre discussion. SuperLuchas has already picked up on the bit about WWE offering to buy 51% of AAA back when they were looking at worldwide expansion. This has been mentioned a time or two before. Konnan said he advising strongly against since WWE would just kick them out at any time if they had all the power and it doesn’t sound like Dorian was ever actually interested in giving up control; the actual product of this was WWE using information from their discussion with AAA to get their Televisa/TV Azteca deals.

Konnan mentions AAA plans to do 7 or 8 shows for the AAA US show on El Rey. He describes them as “TripleMania big” and taking place in Mexico City with foreigners brought in. That’s a lot of shows to be running in Mexico City, in addition to all the other TV they’re doing in the city and close distance (like the Plan Sexenal show on 09/22.) He may not mean 8 events, but 8 hours of TV in fewer events. That’s still a humongous project.

Konnan says “at least 8 wrestlers” from CMLL have contacted him about jumping over, after he tried everyone and could only get 3 guys to jump back for the beginning of the Consejo angle. (Toscano, Texano and Hector Garza, who didn’t end up in Consejo.) They also talk about a CMLL wrestler – a different one – contacting Court Bauer thru Facebook because they were so interested in finding some way to AAA. This is probably the time CMLL people are looking to get out the hardest; anyone who’s not on the Anniversary show who feels they should be getting that big pay day is probably going to take a look elsewhere. Getting people from saying they’re willing to move to actually moving is the tough part.

Konnan also says he thinks the Foreign Legion storyline might have gone one year too long. It’s rare a booker be self critical like that, it reflects well on him. Konnan also says it was Estrellita who helped sneak him in to Arena Mexico a few years back to watch their shows. Konnan seems pretty sure security knew it was him or someone like him, which may mean they already knew Estrellita was up to something.
