recap

taped 2013-07-02 @ Arena Mexico

Miss!

Molotov & Oro Jr. vs Apocalipsis & Camorra: Molotov’s finish in the second match was way off, and his finish in the third match looked very weak. The stuff in between was no great shakes. Oro Jr. still looks cool, and we’re still months (at least) away from him getting to fight decent people on a regular basis.

almost!

Hombre Bala Jr., Soberano Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Hijo del Signo, Nitro, Nosferatu: Third fall fell apart when Soberano slipped on his flip and never totally got back on track. It was interesting to see Signo being the rudo to keep things together (though the prearrange spot was set up to take out Nitro which prevented him from helping.) Maybe he’s actually good at putting matches back together? That hasn’t been the case when he’s been feuding with Metálico. Reaching for something to talk about besides the usual (Bala/Halcon do a lot of good moves together, do not really get to work as a tag team.)

Bala corner tope

Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Tritón vs Misterioso Jr., Puma, Sangre Azteca: usual terecera. Sangre’s flip into the crowd was random, and at least Fantasma did something slightly different with the Phantom Lariat. I liked how Triton and Sangre sorted themselves out in the opening section and got something good out of it. The rest was mostly indistinguishable from the usual weekly match.

Fuego finally pays the price for the no impact moonsault

Fuego, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger: It seems like Stuka, Rey Cometa and Fuego should’ve ended up as a regular trio based on all that happened in the spring, but they’ve rarely all teamed up. There were good as a trio here, bringing out the best of TRT. Terrible works best as a bully and he got to bully the smaller técnicos around greatly during this match, with Bucanero and Tiger coming along for the ride nicely. This was a good energetic match playing off the differences of the teams well.

triple dive!

Máscara Dorada, Titán, Valiente vs Averno, Pierroth, Volador Jr.: You don’t need to ask me if Pierroth is awful, just ask the guys he was teaming with. Averno & Volador did not seem to like Pierroth early in the match, and thought even less of him after his abysmal performance. This match sounded like a potentially really fun match that could be ruined by one man, and that’s a lot of what happened here. It was still okay/good thanks to good performances elsewhere (Dorada!) and it did a good job of building up the Titan/Averno match next week, but Pierroth was awful and had no business here.
