tope explosion

Dark Angel vs Princesa Blanca in a lightning match: Really fun lightning match. I vaguely recall Dark Angel and Princesa Blanca having a good match previously, so maybe they just have some chemistry working against each other. Dark Angel’s really been good since she’s been back, it’s too bad she’s going away. Both women put a lot into this match and it worked well. It’s great they went out of usual order to make sure this match aired.

Diamante Azul, La Sombra, Shocker vs Pierroth, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.: Another Volador/Sombra trios, without other guys being around but not really adding much. Fine for what it was but I just watched the title match and this really doesn’t seem like much. Pierroth didn’t do anything horrible and survived Azul dropping him on his head, so that was good. It was funny to watch Azul/Bucanero fight and remember they were feuding like two weeks ago and no one remembers/cares.

a bad combination

Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Psicosis vs La Máscara, Rush, Titán for the Mexican National Trios Championship: Really didn’t like the match live, to the point where I was rooting for this not to be a title change because the match wasn’t good enough to be that important. It wasn’t as bad on the second watch. The good parts came thru bigger, though there were still a lot of iffy moments (the whole thing with Rush setting up the comeback too soon, and a bunch with Titan.) There’s been some really good matches involving these titles the last few years, and this wasn’t one of them.

People who know better than me: what is Azul physically doing wrong that’s causing him to drop people on their heads? Grabbing the guys too low? Not bending right? Or are these safer than they seem?

Generally speaking the best german suplexes are done by smaller guys. Since Azul is taller than almost all his opponents any regular german suplex by him will automatically drop the opponent on their head/neck because of the size difference. He shouldn’t do the snap version and instead do the high-arc german suplex while loosening his grip in mid-air so his opponents can take much safer back bumps on the landing while he bridges but he doesn’t do that for some reason.
