En Busca de un Idolo, Bushiroad

CMLL (FRI) 06/07/2013 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Astral & Eléctrico b Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Violencia
Tecnicos took 2/3. Violencia replaced Demus, who now says he’ll be out 6 months after knee surgery.
2) Diamante, Pegasso, Tritón b Cancerbero, Raziel, Shigeo Okumura
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Máximo, Rush, Thunder b Mr. Águila, Negro Casas, Pólvora
Tecnicos cheated (Mexico foul on Aguila) to win in straight falls. More hair match challenges followed.
4) Vangellys b Valiente [En Busca de un Idolo]
Vangelis won with a northern lights suplex
5) Tiger b Hijo del Fantasma [En Busca de un Idolo]
Tiger moved out of the way of the Phantom Attack, Fantasma tried a huracanrana, Tiger rolled thru and grabbed the ropes for the win.
6) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, La Máscara b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero
Atlantis took 2/3. Super quick first two falls.
7) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Mistico DQ Euforia, Terrible, Volador Jr.
Volador pulled Sombra’s mask for the DQ. Sombra/Volador made challenges – Sombra wants a mask match, Volador wants a shot at Sombra’s new title.

CMLL is setting up a major June show, but it won’t be next week. Maybe they figure the Sunday show is enough against TripleMania, maybe they want to space it out from the minis cage match, but there wasn’t even a hint of a date yet.

Valiente & Fantasma had perfect records before their loss last night. It doesn’t look like I got recordings for either (feed died twice) and Terra hasn’t put up any matches from this week. The Valiente/Vangelis match looked real good from what we saw, and Tiger/Fantasma was short but better than last time.

294 Valiente – clinched
243 Vangelis
198 Hijo del Fantasma
179 Stuka Jr.
160 Tiger
133 Fuego (should be 131)
103 Sangre Azteca
98 Misterioso

I was focused on Fuego (or Tiger) passing up Hijo del Fantasma, but Stuka is also technically still in play. Stuka’s got Sangre Azteca on Tuesday, and Sangre’s the only in this competition not to get a win, so he’s got a good shot of fixing that. Stuka can still get ahead of Fantasma and to safety with a good judging score. He also does a lot better in fan voting than Fantasma.

Fuego is 65 points behind Fantasma. A win cuts that to 45. Average judging score is 20, which would put the gap to 25 points. Fuego beat Fantasma by 28 points last week in the polling. If Fuego beats Misterioso, it’s coming down to that last poll (and maybe if someone corrects Fuego’s point total.)

The Demus tweet about his surgery is here; six months is much worse than what was said earlier this week.

El Hijo del Santo will appear on a charity event in San Diego next Saturday. He’s over in Japan now with his son.

Video interview with La Parka, Cibernetico, Texano and Silver King.

Very much enjoyed this Daga promo.

CMLL (MON) 06/10/2013 Arena Puebla
1) Aguila Egipcia, Meyer, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Ares, Espiritu Maligno, Saurón
Aguila Egipcia’s debut here.
2) Hombre Bala, Stigma, Super Halcon vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Disturbio, Nitro
3) Blue Panther, Fuego, Sagrado vs Morphosis, Olímpico, Vangelis
4) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Shocker vs Gran Guerrero, Mr. Niebla, Pierroth
Pierroth’s debut (under that name; last here in July 2003 under his last name.)
5) Atlantis vs Último Guerrero

Still no Bucanero/Azul. That Atlantis/UG seems like it’s the replacement match.

IWRG (THU) 06/13/2013 Arena Naucalpan
1) Seiya vs Fulgor I
2) Ángel Del Amor & Mr. Magia vs Imposible & Picudo Jr.
3) Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro [super libre]
4) Chico Che, Pantera, Veneno vs Decnnis, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Scorpio Jr.
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan vs Eterno, Súper Nova, X-Fly [IWRG IC TRIOS]
Piratas are champions and their Mexico State trios titles do not appear to be on the line. 2nd defense.

Tercera looks great, but again this show doesn’t seem to be airing in anything more than Tercera Caida highlights.

CMLL (FRI) 06/14/2013 Arena Mexico
1) Leono & Robin vs Camorra & Herodes Jr.
2) Metálico, Pegasso, Starman vs Hijo del Signo, Hooligan, Skándalo
3) Bushiroad, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tritón vs Boby Zavala, Namajague, Puma
4) Rey Cometa vs Dragón Rojo Jr. [lightning]
5) En Busca De Un Idolo 1, En Busca De Un Idolo 2, Negro Casas vs En Busca De Un Idolo 3, En Busca De Un Idolo 4, Virus
6) Máximo, Rush, Shocker vs Mr. Águila, Rey Bucanero, Rey Escorpión
7) Atlantis, La Sombra, Titán vs Pierroth, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.

Titan is back in the main event. Also, Pierroth.

The fifth match is listed as two finalists from En Busca de un Idolo on each side, not necessarily 1st/2nd teaming with Negro. They did realize it’s probably not going to be two members of each side.

Bushiroad is NJPW’s BUSHI – or more distantly, IWRG’s BUSHI. Bushi showed up unmasked to IWRG as a trainee from AJPW, gained a masked along the way, lost the mask to Oficial 911, and went back to AJPW as a masked man anyway. Maybe naming him Bushiroad is to get around any interference for Bushi being masked again. (It also could just be a typo.) More notable that he’s coming in as a tecnico. Not sure how long he’s here for; all the way thru August is possible.

  1. thought axel had bad blood with santo?

also thought axel was the son of one of original santo’s non-wrestling children?

or is the one training with noah someone else from the santo family?

lucha familys confuse me so much lol

  2. Its somebody else from the Santo family.

What’s the odds of TripleMania being on demand after the event rather than watching it live? Can you let us know if anything’s announced? I’m keen on watching it but probably won’t manage to live.

  3. I realise you probably can’t answer the first question and that you probably would with the second question anyway, just toying whether or not to purchase the event.

  4. So CMLL Mini Extravaganza this week (just caught the Sun Morning repeat airing) on Fight Network was:

    Show 1: 2010-12-03 Arena Mexico 4 of 6: Eléctrico b Pequeño Warrior [mask] * *

Talk of this being career changing by commentary, mentioned how Bracito de Oro never returned after losing to Warrior.

Show 2: 11-01-07 Arena Mexico 3 of 5: Astral, Bam Bam, Fantasy b Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior * *

Pequeno Olimpico got knocked out cold from a tornillo from Bam Bam and was stretchered out. At one point when doctors were checking on Olimpico Bam Bam came out of the ring and actually tried to lift him by the mask to get him into the match, but it looked like Olimpico was hurt or at least knocked out good. Tecnicos get the win via countout as a result match ends abruptly and so does the show.
