Diamante Azul and Zeuxis also win championships, En Busca de un Idolo, GALLI

1) Princesa Blanca & Princesa Sugheit b Dalis la Caribeña & Luna Mágica
2) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa b Namajague, Puma, Virus
Rey Cometa was an announced replacement for Fuego. Tecnicos took 2/3 with Puma and Cometa back to their old feud.
3) Máscara Dorada, Stuka Jr., Super Porky DQ Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Tecnicos took 2/3, Averno fouling Porky in the third. Hair match challenges followed.
4) Hijo del Fantasma b Vangellys [En Busca de un Idolo]
Phantom Attack for the win. Fantasma scored a 10/7/7/5 for a 29, while Vangelis scored a 8/7/6/4 for a 25.
5) Valiente b Tiger [En Busca de un Idolo]
Valiente tapatia on Tiger to win. Tiger was bleeding after flipping into the front row on a Valiente tope. Valiente scored a 10/8/9/7 for a 34. Tiger scored 8/7/8/5 for a 28.
6) Diamante Azul b Rey Bucanero [NWA LH]
Stuka was Azul’s second. Rey Bucanero has no second in the photo – perhaps it was intended to be Tiger? Azul took the first, Rey submitted him in the third, and Azul dropped Rey on his head with a German suplex to win the match and the title. Rey Bucanero falls on his second defense. Azul is the 4th (or 68th) champion, and it’s the first time this title belt has changed hands in the ring since 2010.
7) Blue Panther, La Máscara, La Sombra DQ Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpión, Shinsuke Nakamura
Rey Escorpion was disqualified for an illegal choke on Panther! This also sets up the hair match.

Terra feed was pretty useless. They were having bandwidth problems – maybe because they were trying higher quality video – and it led to the feeds all spread out. At one point, one feed was five minutes later, and another was ten minutes later, and then they were all down at points. Hopefully it shows up on Terra’s website, because it’s the only way they’re going to be see. (The show from Sunday is up now, if you want that minis cage match.)

CMLL doesn’t do illegal choke finishes often. Nice break from a low blow.

Not as excited about this title change as the ones from this past weekend – the gap between Diamante Azul and Sombra/Dorada is huge – but it’s not like Bucanero was doing anything with it either. The Universal Championship seems fixed as a September event now, so these mass title changes aren’t about lining up people for yet another tournament. They do all seem to be young luchadors being older luchadors, and that may not be a coincidence.

Last two people who’ve been NWA LH champion have been Shocker (gave up title due to knee injury) and Rey Bucanero (title reign long but meaningless due to knee injury.) Protect your knees, Diamante Azul!

The standings I have for En Busca de un Idolo

225 Valiente – only guy with a judging score over 30, now has done it twice.
162 Hijo del Fantasma
159 Stuka Jr.
156 Vangelis
——————-
104 Tiger
99 Fuego
97 Sangre Azteca
75 Misterioso

Valiente will clinch a spot once the poll numbers are added in. Those poll numbers will shuffle this up. Fuego is doing very well at last check and Hijo del Fantasma is not (again), so those two will end up much closer. Stigma replaced Fuego in Puebla on Monday and CMLL’s been quiet on his status after going to the hospital on Friday, but his match next Tuesday is looking like it might mean something.

CMLL (TUE) 06/04/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl, @anicetagtz]
1) Halcón de Plata & Metatrón DQ Infierno & Magnum
Tecnicos took 2/3, both by excessive violence.
2) Soberano Jr. & Stigma b Ráfaga & Sádico
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Zeuxis b Silueta [REINA IJ]
Silueta came in as champion and submitted Seuxis in the first fall. Seuxis took falls 2 and 3 to win the title. Silueta falls in his 4th defense. Zexuis is the third champion.
4) Kráneo, Olímpico, Psicosis b Sagrado, Shocker, Tritón
Rudos piled on Shocker in the first, pinning him. He was strechered out. Rudos beat the outnumbered tecnicos in the second.
5) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Volador Jr. b Máximo, Mistico, Rush
Maximo replaced Thunder. Tecnicos took 1/3, Euforia reversing a huracarrana on someone and grabbing the ropes.

This title change is not like the other 3. I’m not sure what’s behind it (someone else might!) but that makes the second time Zeuxis has a big win over Silueta in her hometown. My guesses it’s either a REINA call or a something Pierroth related, only Pierroth has disappeared at the moment and REINA also always seems on the verge of disappearing.

I think Euforia pinned Mistico, but I’m not sure. I bet we can tell when lineups come out.

It occurred to me that I was on AAA for not announcing plans for TripleMania when I had not actually announced plans for TripleMania. So here goes that: it’ll be the usual live coverage/chat coverage. If I get a chance, I’m going to find another chat service, because we exceeded the capacity of the last one at Dos Leyendas. The coverage should be better this year because we may actually be able to watch the show. Cover will kick off around 5pm, starting with the CMLL Terra show, and will continue until sometime after TripleMania.

One thing different – if AAA provides an iPPV, I will not be posting the video later and I do not want people posting the video in the comments. I don’t want people posting the video anywhere if AAA doesn’t give the OK, but I can only handle this part of the internet. Same thing for sharing feeds. (Screen shots are fine.) We’ve asked AAA for years to allow us to have a way to give them money, they’re finally doing that (or so we’ve been told), and I want to do encourage them to do that again. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me.

LyC press release on the WWL show says there are two more matches to be announced, including one with their local wrestlers.

Galactar & Rico Rodriguez defeated Dralion & Morvius in a 35 minute match in Monterrey. It was the anniversary match for the first two, and apparently Morvius’ retirement match (he’d been gone for 4 years before this match, and indicated he was no longer wrestling outside of this one.)

In addition to Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards, DTU announced Canadian Jewells Malone will be coming for the shows. I have not heard of her before now, but her website says she’s in Mexico from June 28th to July 8th, which might the same span as the other guys. Mexican luchadors announced include Mary Apache, Faby Apache, Keira, Joe Lider, Crazy Boy, Flamita, Hacker, Jinzo, Princioe Halcon, and Rocky Lobo, plus the usual crew of DTU merry miscreants.

The Lasser benefit show is said to have gone well. In the CMLL main event, Dragon Rojo & Gran Guerrero replaced Ultimo Guerrero & Brazo de Plata, while Magnus replaced Rush. (That’s silly.)

Speaking of silly, the main event of the 06/30 Arena Coliseo Monterrey show will be Ernesto Chavana vs Konnan Big in a hair versus hair match. LA Park, Dr. Wagner, and Hijo del Santo will be in the same town, in Arena Solidaridad the same day. This seems like it might be a painful lesson on the power of TV (Chavana hosts a show every day of the week on Multimedios), but hopefully everyone does great.

GALLI says they’ve signed a TV deal for (newly launched) TVC Networks Chicago channel on 25.2, and Comcaast channel 395/659 (though Comcast doesn’t list the channel online.) Shows will air Saturday at 2AM and Sunday at 10AM. It’s listed as Paid Programming right now. This channel appears to be an affiliate of TVC+ Latino, but unfortunately not airing the programs listed on their website (which include Tercera Caida and CMLL Puebla).  The replacement programming includes years old repeats of NWA Wrestling From Hollywood, strangely listed as “NWA, Lucha Libre Puerto Rico”.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  • Hector Garza passed away
  1. CMLL’s young top tecnicos scored two huge title wins. La Sombra defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to pick up the IWGP Intercontinental championship in front of a very surprised and thrilled crowd on Friday. Two days later, Mascara Dorada defeated Negro Casas to win the NWA Weltwerweight Championship in another great match. Both Casas & Nakamura held heir championships for a long time with many defenses before losing them this past week.
  2. AAA held a press conference to announce the TripleMania lineup, but the big news was the “return” of Dr. Wagner Jr. The storyline was Konnan brought him back to be part of an independent team to face a team of AAA Legends, but Wagner immediately turned on Konnan and asked to rejoin. He did, and the match is now Wagner, La Parka, Octagon, Electroshock vs Mascara Ano 2000, Universo 2000, Villano IV and Canek. The press conference also announced Mesias vs Blue Demon Jr. would be for the vacant (LA Park) Latin American championship, and the Psycho Circus would face “TNA’s” Jeff Jarrett, Matt Morgan and Monster Pain. The show was announced to be on PPV, iPPV and in movie theaters, but no details about any of those are available 11 days out.
  3. Cibernetico defeated Perro Aguayo in a singles match taped for TV prior to their TripleMania hair match. It was cut down to highlights when airing on TV this week. On another TV taping in Toluca, probably the last to air before TripleMania, Canek and Wagner feuded in the main event to build to TripleMania, and possible title challenger Heavy Metal defeated champion Texano.
  4. En Busca de un Idolo continued thru the first round, though the four luchadors moving onto to the second round appear nearly set as Valiente, Vangelis, Hijo del Fantasma and Stuka. The judge’s strong dislike of Misterioso has been the highlight of the first round.
  5. Perros del Mal announced a 5th Anniversary show, announced it would be honoring Hector Garza after his death, then announced the show would be canceled to honor Hector Garza.
  6. WWL announced their show for Monterrey in July. Matches include Blue Demon vs Big Daddy V, Monster Pain vs Bobby Lashley, Mil Mascaras & Sicodelico vs Villano III & Villano IV, and Sabu vs Tommy Dreamer.
  • Masked Repubic’s Viva La Lucha Kickstarter kicked off.
  • Pequeno Violencia lost his hair to Shockercito in a cage match this past Sunday. The cage match seemed hastily put together and did not seem to mean much as a main event. CMLL appears to be putting together another cage match for on 06/14 with their regular wrestlers.
  • TxT announced their 06/22 show, with another relevos suicidas and Santo & Demon teaming together for a title defense.
  • Tinieblas Jr. partnered with the government on a outdoor show in Mexico City’s Zocalo, which got some attention for having advertised Hijo del Santo without actually getting a hold of Hijo del Santo. Things were worked out, and Santo will be part of the September follow up show.
  • Titan will finish in the bottom 3rd of his BOSJ group. Also, he may be hurt. It does sound like he had good matches at least.
  • Pesadilla, Super Crazy and Nieto del Santo are headed to Japan, while Dark Angel is headed back from Japan to Mexico with an extra championship belt.
  • Shocker is back wrestling, which means he didn’t fare all the great on the reality show he was on. As far as we’ve seen, Shocker hasn’t taken back over his team for En Busca de un Idolo and instead appeared as a replacement judge.
  • Hijo del Pirata Morgan won the IWRG Middleweight championship from Eterno, and Rey Escorpion kept the CMLL Light Heavyweight championship over local Guadalajara star Gallo.
  • CMLL announced the tournament to decide their vacant trios championship will start this Sunday, with the finals going head to head with TripleMania.
  • CMLL was had earthquake drills after and during a show. It was odd.
