05/24 AAA Evolucion Results (Tampico)

AAA Evolucion (FRI) 05/24/2013 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico [AAA]
1) Carta Brava Jr., Eita, Mike Segura b Freelance, Mamba, Saturno
Segura and Freelance made it this week! Saturno & Eita making their debuts. Segura was last on a main AAA taping in August 1997.
2) Faby Apache, Flamita, Octagoncito b Eterno, Mini Charly Manson, Taya Valkyrie
Faby pinned Charly with a Tiger suplex.
3) Angélico & Jack Evans b Crazy Boy & Joe Lider
Said to be a very good match. Jack beat Crazy with a 630 senton.
4) Escoria, Fénix, La Parka b Daga, Parka Negra, Pentagón Jr.
Fenix won it for his team, only for Villano V to run in and help the rudos beat up the tecnicos after the match. V5 said his El Toreo team was ready for Parka, Octagon and Electroshock (apparent third man), but did not reveal his partners.
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver King, Villano IV
Parka ran in and attacked Villano IV, setting up the Psycho Clown frog splash and win.
6) Cibernético b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo
Seconds were Daga and Escoria, but both were knocked out. Cibernetico beat Perro with a chokeslam onto chairs. Joaquin and Konnan came to the ring after the match, Perro demanded another fall, but Joaquin said he must wait until TripleMania.

Air Date: 06/02. It could be a double taping. Either this show or Toluca will be, and I’m guessing it’s going to be the Toluca taping. Since Fusion is taping this week, the other matches will either turn up on UTDN or not at all.

We still don’t know who Villano IV’s partners are, but we do have a sense of the AAA team. The main event pretty strongly indicates how the TripleMania main event is going to resolve, though I think that’s the outcome people mostly figured. Same might apply for the tag match.

AAA has a Fusion taping on Sunday, though any big developments might wait until Thursday’s show in Toluca or Tuesday’s press conference. Something going on every two days!

Sombra vs Nakamura, June cage match, En Busca de un Idolo

CMLL (FRI) 05/24/2013 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Molotov & Sensei b Artillero & Súper Comando
Tecnicos took falls 1/3.
2) La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit b Dalis la Caribeña, Marcela, Silueta
Rudas took 2/3
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto DQ Blue Panther, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr.
Rudos took 2/3, Averno faking a foul from Panther in the last. Panther challenged Averno to a hair match. Averno would not agree.
4) Hijo del Fantasma b Sangre Azteca [En Busca de un Idolo]
Fantasma won with his Phantom Attack into an armbar in a good match. Negro slightly distracted Sangre Azteca before the finish, giving Fantasma time to run up the ramp. Fantasma scored a 9/7/7/4 for a 27. Sangre Azteca scored a 8, 7, 5, 2 for a 22.
5) Valiente DQ Misterioso Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo]
Misterioso had Valiente beat with an armbar, but would not release the hold. Just an okay match. Misterioso blamed the referee and argued with Virus, but clearly was at fault for not letting go of the hold. Valiente scored a 8, 4, 5, 4 for a 21. Misterioso cared even less what the judges had to say this time around, and kept looking at the crowd instead (especially after he was hit by a drink), greatly upsetting Ultimo Guerrero. Judges all ripped Misterioso, and he scored a 2, 3, 1, 1 for a 7, the lowest total ever by far.
6) Mr. Águila, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Máscara Dorada, Rush, Super Porky
Rudos had Mije & Zacarias with them, and the mascots managed to get along. Rudos cheated to win. Rush & Negro Casas and Mr. Aguila & Super Porky made challenges post match.
7) Atlantis, La Máscara, La Sombra b Pierroth, Shinsuke Nakamura, Último Guerrero
Quick two fall match. Pierroth is still bad and should be assumed to be bad until further updates. Sombra beat Nakamura and challenged for his title again. Nakamura agreed this week.

It looks like the usual June CMLL show will be a cage match with unmasked luchadors. All the sudden challenges on the  show – Averno, Blue Panther, Rush, Negro Casas, Mr. Aguila, Brazo de Plata – point that way. They need two to six more guys to fill out the field but they can find them. Doing all of the challenges on one show suggest the cage match is sooner rather than later – June 14 or June 16, the weekend of TripleMania. Aguila being involved takes care of the hair match that never quite got around to happening.

Mistieroso’s flame out is a thing to see. It could be some out of character storyline for CMLL, setting up Misterioso as a great rebel, but it doesn’t feel like a storyline. It feels like Misterioso thinks this whole thing is stupid. Still, what’s just as stupid is that finish. I’d assume Misterioso and Valiente aren’t deciding the results to their own matches or how they get to results, which would mean someone in CMLL gave them a finish which everyone should’ve know was going to annoy the fans and cause the judges to rate them lower because of that finish. Valiente and Misterioso were sabotaged by the booking. That seems unfair in a contest like this, or suggests this whole event is more scripted than it seems.

That 7 score for Misterioso is bad, but Tiger getting a 6 for polling the first week was actually far worse. No one’s getting past the low 30s for judging scores in the first set of matches and most scores are only separated by a couple points. Someone’s getting a 40 in the polling every week, the results are more spread out, and so guys at the bottom like Tiger are in trouble quick. Tiger and Misterioso need big changes to advance to the final 4, it’s nearly down to six luchadors after a week and a half.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 05/30/2013 Arena Naucalpan
1) Atomic Star vs Power Bull
2) Cristal, Rayo Tapatío I, Saruman vs Alan Extreme, Diosa Maya, Imposible

Main event progresses just like would’ve been expected if Thursday’s show had not been canceled. When is Centvrion getting his title shot?

Tomhawk is booked in EVOLVE this night and will probably be there instead of here.

CMLL (FRI) 05/31/2013 Arena Mexico

2) Lluvia, Marcela, Silueta vs Amapola, La Seductora, Tiffany
Lluvia’s return (maybe this time)
3) Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky vs Averno, Mr. Águila, Rey Escorpión
would be Shocker’s return.
4) Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo]
5) Fuego vs Sangre Azteca [En Busca de un Idolo]
6) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
7) Shinsuke Nakamura vs La Sombra [IWGP IC]
Nakamura is champion, going for his ninth defense.

A lot of stuff going on much sooner than figured. Nakamura is around for a couple more weeks, but the title match is happening now. I don’t feel good about Sombra’ chances.

Lluvia may still be hurt. Shocker should still be on the reality show. She may be good to go and he may be allowed to wrestle while his show is still taping, but it also may be CMLL having plain incorrect lineups again. Shocker hasn’t posted on Twitter of late, and I’d expect to see a flood of messages once he’s off the island. If Shocker is around, he’s obviously going to be part of any cage match.
