Ultimo Guerrero pins Atlantis, Black Warrior, AAA in Toluca

CMLL (MON) 04/29/2013 Arena Puebla [El Popular]
1) Blue Center & Siki Ozama Jr. b Milenium & Tigre Rojo
2) Hijo del Signo, Hooligan, Nitro b Metálico, Starman, Stigma
Newspaper says Nitro pinned Metalico with his feet on the ropes.
3) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Rey Cometa b Felino, Puma, Tiger
No mention of any problem between Puma & Tiger.
4) Diamante Azul, La Máscara, Shocker b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Shocker submitted Dragon Rojo.
5) Negro Casas, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Titán
Titan replaced Sombra. Tecnicos took 2/3. Ultimo Guerrero tried to submit Atlantis with the Atlantida, Atlantis escaped and small packaged him for the win.

Sombra was working an outdoor show in Tepic.  Looks like it drew well.

Diamante Azul & Titan replace Marco Corleone & Thunder tonight in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara. Not sure why Marco was listed (except they make these lineups out well in advance.) I’m amused by this idea that Titan is an underground luchador who never gets advertised, like he’s a secret character in a video game.

There’s a rumor Black Warrior has retired. He hasn’t been on CMLL cards since the end of February. Warrior has had large periods of inactivity in recent years and even if he’s actually retired, it would be no surprise to see him pop up again. He has seemed like a guy very disinterested in working meaningless midcard matches, but that’s all CMLL has had for him for the last couple years.

Fresero Jr.’s Facebook mentions he’s working a taped for TV show on 05/30 in Toluca. I’ve heard that date and location would likely be another TV taping, so that confirms it. If it’s a Sin Limite taping, it’s the shows airing the day of TripleMania and the week after, though the only people who know for sure what the deal is with AAA TV work for AAA.

The NJPW recap of the Cometa/Namajague match mentions Okumura was promising a big star from Japan as reinforcements. Okumura is always kind of saying that, but a heavyweight from Japan coming over during May’s NJPW Best of Super Juniors tournament would make sense and it’s the kind of thing that’d be announced at their PPV next week. NJPW also announced they’d be running a PPV in Akita in July, which is Namajague’s home town.

AJPW’s Seiya Sanda is possibly coming to Mexico for an excursion. The two AJPW young guys who came to Mexico a month ago haven’t been mentioned as working anywhere. I did hear they were at the AAA TV taping in Leon, but they didn’t appear.

Rob has highlights of CMLL’s 79th Anniversary show.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 05/06/2013 Arena Puebla
1) Meyer & Tigre Rojo vs Ares & El Malayo
2) Camaleón, Höruz, Magnus vs Artillero, Súper Comando, Taurus
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
4) Blue Panther, Diamante Azul, Thunder vs Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
5) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Tecnicos are listed as Los Cadetes del Aire

That main event trios name is probably just hype for the match, but I’d survive Mistico if it meant Dorada & Valiente as a regular team. There are better people than Mistico II, but if you just look at the other tecnicos names on the card, there are a lot of worse people than Mistico II.

04/27-28 lucha videos

The feed I used for Puebla was off when Puebla aired. Unsure if there’s a rerun this week. I think it’s possible the US feed of Multimedios is airing infomercials over the Mexican channel’s programming; we’re getting a couple matches cut up or come back from late each week as a result. (What we really need is the webfeed of that channel to show up again.)

I finally figured out how to record the Terra shows straight from the feed (much better than the screen capture bit we’ve done before), during the show. Answer was right in front of me the whole time. It does seem like I’ll have need to have access to my recording computer to grab the show, since the link for the show changes each week, so it may not be a weekly thing. It didn’t help a lot this week – Terra’s feed started dropping frames during the middle section of the show and the resulting videos are only sort of watchable. It does get better later in the show. I also chopped up the 04/14 Terra show they uploaded to their site – the only one so far – so I could more easily link to the matches which didn’t air on 52MX.

(This reminded me that the Namajague/Rey Cometa heat up angle from 04/14 didn’t air anywhere but on Terra. I don’t think we can blame that match for not drawing casual fans because not a single casual fan would’ve known it was happening.)

There’s a lot of videos here, and I’m sure something is not right. I already know I tried to fix the audio sync issues on SLP & Terra, but it didn’t work, and I had to reencode and reupload a few things. If there’s anything else, let me know.

1) Cósmico & Mini Multifacetico b Oficialito 911 & Oficialito Fierro
Cosmico replaced Mini Canis Lupus & Mini Cobra, while AK47 did not appear for the rudos.
2) Alan Extreme, El Sable, Niko b Freelance, Saruman, Serpiente de Oro
Sable’s debut here – he’s from Hidalgo.
3) Canis Lupus, Carta Brava Jr., Scorpio b Chico Che, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic
Carta Brava and Dinamic Black feuded heavily.
4) Cien Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 b Negro Navarro, Pantera, Veneno
Heavy’s teammates didn’t trust him, especially since Heavy was screwing around before match, but it was revealed to be a way to mess with Negro Navarro. Team Metal took falls 1/3, Heavy using the ropes to beat Negro in the third.
5) Eterno b Danny Casas [IWRG IC MIDDLE]
Eterno won the first with a Style Clash. Danny Casas took a quick second fall with a casita. Danny kicked out of the Super Styles Clash but Eterno put him down with a superplex for the win. First defense for Eterno.

It’d be funny if Heavy Metal was turning rudo here while being a big time tecnico for TripleMania. Crowd did support Eterno over Danny Casas in the main event, so it’d probably work if they were a rudo team.

Kaiser Sports has some post show quotes from Hijo del Santo. He confirmed LA Park and Dr. Wagner Jr. will meet on their next show (May 11), but Santo feels Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera is too small for a mask match between the two and will only run it in Plaza de Toros Mexico (41,000 seats) if the two agree to it. If I stop to take this serious, that seems at least two times to large, though it’s all dependent on how cheap the tickets are. Santo thinks La Migra will be back, but with a slightly different trio because one of them has signed with WWE. (Not mentioned which one, but there are a couple twitter messages which seem to give it away.) As for his own trio, Santo says teaming up with Solitario & Wagner is dependent on his partners willingness to do so, but he appreciated them working together and not teasing a betray at any moment of their match.

If TxT stays with their current schedule, they’ll either be running their June show on the 8th or the 15th (the night before TripleMania, which would make for a busy weekend.)

CMLL Gaceta has an interview with Atlantis, talking about wrestling for thirty years. Atlantis notes he’s frequently challenged for mask matches – “even people from other companies” – but in his view, the mask match with Ultimo Guerrero should just be a one on one battle and no one else should be involved. Atlantis is willing to talk about other matches after he gets thru that one. Atlantis says the biggest moment of his career was his first mask win over Talisman, because he didn’t know if he’d win or if his career would just end right there. Atlantis has no idea what he’d do if he lost his mask, saying he may just run out of the ring, but he can’t imagine the situation.

CMLL announced Tuesday and Friday Arena Mexico shows will have children’s tickets marked down to 1 peso. It only applies to children under 10, and from row 11 and back. CMLL also mentioned the May 1oth (Friday) show will be their Mother’s Day show.

1) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan Jr. b Golden Magic & Poseidón (Laguna)
Golden Magic & his partner replaced Rayo Tapatios. His partner was originally listed as Triton, then Poseidon on Yahoo and EdR, and Principe Celeste on the Gladiatores. He’s originally listed as Triton, is listed as from Torreon and a Dr. Wagner Jr. student. Piratas took 1/3.
2) Esther Moreno & Rossy Moreno b Chik Tormenta & Diosa Maya
Morenos took 1/3.
3) Súper Muñeco, Súper Pinocho, Súper Ratón b Black Terry, Scorpio Jr., Shu el Guerrero
Trio Fantastia took 2/3. Shu el Guerrero and Super Muneco feuded, Muneco pinning Guerrero with a casita. Mask challenges followed, yet again. Muneco was fighting on a hurt knee.
4) Angel Blanco Jr. & Cien Caras Jr. b Fuerza Guerrera & Pirata Morgan [Trofeo Angel Blanco, semifinal]
5) Rayman & Saruman b Dinamic Black & Imposible [Trofeo Angel Blanco, semifinal]
6) Rayman & Saruman b Angel Blanco Jr. & Cien Caras Jr. [Trofeo Angel Blanco, final]
Blanco gave his opponents credit for a win and added a pointless mask challenge.
7) Dr. Wagner Jr., El Hijo Del Santo, El Hijo del Solitario b Derek Sanders, Oliver John, Shaun Ricker
Team Mexico took 1/3. Oliver John gave Santo a piledriver after the mat.

No LA Park on the show, but a poster is already out listing Dr. Wagner Jr. vs LA Park for the next TxT show on 05/11. Hope they bring the flammable chairs. Odd they’d have Santo beat Migra twice, and then still try to do a big angle with Santo getting laid out after the fact.

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 04/28/2013 Arena Mexico [@therealfredo, CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
***Kids Day Show***
1) Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior b Eléctrico, Pequeño Halcón, Stukita
Electrico replaced Shockercito. Rudos took 1/3.
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Tritón b Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
Tecnicos took 1/3, Triton pinning Virus in the third.
3) Amapola b Estrellita [lightning]
Amapola won clean with the Devil’s Wings.
4) Guerrero Maya Jr., Máscara Dorada, Super Porky b Puma, Rey Bucanero, Tiger
Rey Bucanero replaced Mr. Aguila, who was listed as working an indy show which started around the same time as this one. Tecnicos took 2/3. Bucanero broke up a Puma pin in the third, leading to to an argument. Tiger started to play peacemaker, but then superkicked his brother. Tecnicos took advantage for the win. Rudos argued again after the match, with Tiger again siding with Bucanero.
5) Diamante Azul, Rush, Shocker b Euforia, Negro Casas, Niebla Roja
Tecnicos took 1/3.
6) Mistico DQ Volador Jr.
Volador took fall 1 with the backcracker. Mistico took fall 2 with a torito after being dominated for a lot of the fall. Third fall was a long bit of near falls, as usual. Mistico got La Mistica II on, but Volador battled and Mistico had to let go for naerly being pinned. Mistico went for the orignal La Mistica (again, slower than the original), but Volador escaped and pulled his mask off. Referee Rafael el Maya complained and got kicked. Volador again called Mistico a weak copy, while Mistico insisted he had heart and victories. Mask match challenge was made.

The barricades of the last few years were not present, and the ring apron was all white. Attendance might have been up a little; the cheaper (farther) segments seemed to be more full. The Bucnaero/Tiger/Puma bit felt like a storyline for El Luchador, and this is the time of year where material has been taped. However, on the last season of El Luchador, they dropped any problems between them – they were cheerfully playing video games against Tiger & Puma other on one episode. I dunno. (Maybe this is the start of a longer story.)

CMLL (SUN) 04/28/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Demonio Maya & Espectrum b Idolo & Virgo
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Sky Kid & Smaker b Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
Brothers vs brothers. Tecnicos took 1/3 to win the match.
3) Ángel de Oro, Gallo, Stuka Jr. b Maléfico, Namajague, Ráfaga
Stuka beat Rafaga to take the match, tecnicos 2/3.
4) Leo b Sangre Azteca [OCCIDENTE WELTER]
Leo came in as champion. Leo took the first with a tapatia, Sangre Azteca took the second with his low blow dropkick, and Sangre fouled Leo in the third for a DQ. Leo keeps the title. Second known defense
5) Bárbaro Cavernario b Rey Cometa [super libre]
Rey Cometa took the first, then was DQed in the second for unspecified reasons (match had been listed as super libre.) Namajague distracted Cometa in the third, allowing Barbaro to beat Cometa for the big upset.
6) Azteca de Oro & El Hippie b Acertijo & Sádico [mask, hair]
Rudos took the first, and had Azteca de Oro beat in the second. Hippie beat both rudos to keep the tecnicos alive. Azteca de Oro pulled the same save in the third, giving the tecnicos the win. Sadico lost his hair, while Acertijo was revealed to be Raúl Rodíguez Santacruz. No mention of age or years, but he’d been wrestling here for the last four and half years.

Xtreme Tiger is headed to IWC, a Pittsburgh indy promotion (run at least in part by Xema Ion, I think I heard.) My biggest regret of the ChilangaMask show is not trying to get definite word on the spelling of Extreme/Xtreme’s name.

Mamba beat Super Fly with a brainbuster. After the match, Texano hit the ring to declare he was welcoming opening challenges to his title alone. Argenis decided to try his luck again.
4) Texano Jr. b Argenis [AAA HEAVY]
Fifth defense. Texano needed to sneak in a foul this time. Texano kept beating up Argenis after the match and Heavy Metal made the save. Metal asked for a title shot. Texano turned him down, saying saying he took Metal’s hair before (2008, in a CMLL cage match) and Heavy Metal is washed up.
5) Crazy Boy & Joe Lider b Daga & Psicosis
Made no disqualification. Daga beat Lider with a top rope Canadian Destroyer.
6) Fénix, Heavy Metal, La Parka b Chessman, Parka Negra, Pentagón Jr.
Heavy Metal beat Chessman with a casita.
7) Cibernético & El Mesías b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Texano Jr.
Tecnicos won when Heavy Metal hit Texano with a guitar.

Air Date: 05/30, 06/06 and 06/13

I’m not that excited about seeing a “washed up” guy who Texano already beat face him for the title at TripleMania. That sure seems to be implication here. That’s closer to a likely thing thing anything else built up here, because there isn’t any sign of an undercard. Guessing Daga defends against a whole group of cruiserweight people including Crazy Boy and Joe Lider, since they keep facing each other, and maybe Axel because he’s around. Add in something along the lines of Mesias vs Blue Demon (and Konnan?) and Atomic Boy vs Apache and you’ve got a suitably random undercard.

Next announced taping is 05/12 in Durango.

05/24 AAA Evolucion Lineup (Tampico)

AAA Evolucion (FRI) 05/24/2013 Auditorio Municipal de Tampico
1) Freelance, Mamba, Saturno vs Carta Brava Jr., Eita, Mike Segura
2) Faby Apache, Flamita, Octagoncito vs Eterno, Mini Charly Manson, Taya Valkyrie
3) Crazy Boy & Joe Lider vs Angélico & Jack Evans
4) Escoria, Fénix, La Parka vs Daga, Parka Negra, Pentagón Jr.
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver King, Villano IV
6) Cibernético vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

Air Date:  05/30, 06/06 and 06/13? The UTDN has to be going at least half Evolucion, if only because they have taped too much TV for it not to be. I am not prepared for a situation where I’m writing about 2 more hours of lucha libre TV a week. The AAA chart has been completely redone, going with what they’ve said about each taping instead of trying to make guesses.

KrisZ found this last night. Poster from SuperLuchas post.

Odds of that main event ending cleanly are 500000000:1.

Villano IV, the Rick Rude of 2013 lucha libre, is apparently the newest member of El Consejo. It’s a definitely a different combination to face the Psycho Circus.

There’s still no giveaways about big TripleMania matches, which means they’re probably either involving people who aren’t around (TNA, Japan, whatever) or just not big matches. Parka and Parka Negra still matched up, Fenix and Pentagon Jr. the same. Those two pairs are on the same brand post TripleMania, so this is just part way in a long run of those matches. Hope they’re good!

Jack Evans! Still in AAA! Oddly fighting tecnicos!

Lots of IWRG participation in the undercard. I believe they’ve been doing WWE-like tryouts before the shows with guys before the DF shows (and maybe other shows), and you can see which ones impressed. Whatever it takes to get Freelance vs Suicida, though I’d prefer to see Red Bird Junior. Saturno didn’t do a tryout, he’s the last QPPLC winner making his TV debut. (A 2013 QPPLC final is going to be very weird, when it turns out half the finalists are already booked on AAA TV.) Eita jumping to AAA instead of going back to Dragon Gate would be very amusing, but this is probably just an extra booking for him. There’s no real consistency with the early match guys on being tecnico or rudo. All these tapings i confusing for a person on the outside trying to make sense of it, but it sure is giving some good people some extra matches.

The Durango taping, which happens two tapings before this one, is the only announced May taping we don’t have a lineup for yet. That’ll probably turn up in the next couple of days.
