  1. Do you think CMLL is building to Aguila vs. Shocker in a hair match or a multi-man cage-stip thing like before? I’m guessing they do something the afternoon of Triplemania.

  2. @LLL: Cubs may think different than me but I’m thinking Shocker/Aguila hair match & the finals of the Gran Alternativa will be on the 4/26 Arena Mexico show which is the Arena Mexico Anniversary Show as hyped at the press conference two weeks ago. I don’t think they can hold off on a match like Shocker/Aguila for 3 months without it falling apart somehow or people not caring any more by the end of April.

  3. @Nikita: Aguila is as big an issue as Shocker, it just doesn’t get as much play. This is a really weird feud to do, because you have that obstacle to overcome, you have to get past no one believing Aguila has a chance (and he shouldn’t), you have get past Shocker’s obvious diminished level and you have to get past the hardcores in the crowd having turned on Shocker and Shocker telling them off for doing so. (He really needs to turn rudo, he’s got some value left there.) This is a high difficulty level feud to make work.

The only theory anyone’s come up with to explain it is Shocker’s getting a win to set up a loss in the summer – that’s the TripleMania opposition match – but then you’re still putting three months of trust in to Shocker. On the other hand, if you’re ever going to do something with Shocker losing his hair, do it ASAP. The best moment is long gone but it’s probably not going to get better in the future.

(And I’d do Rush vs Shocker or Marco vs Shocker or Maximo vs Shocker before doing Niebla vs Shocker.)

They could do Shocker/Aguila on 04/26 or on 04/30 (Kid’s Day), but I think that part of it is happening soon. They’re pushing it hard and have nothing else going on, not even other feuds they could throw together for a cage match.

  4. @Rob: That’s one reason why you almost gotta do the multi-man stip cage thing with Shocker.

I’m guessing his issues with alcohol are one thing, and his feelings about losing his hair are something else. I just don’t think he wants to lose his hair no matter how much money it might mean.

  5. @LLL: That’s something to worry about when it comes time for him to lose a feud but for the Aguila match it’s not a concern. I agree with you Shocker may have self-esteem issues when it comes to his hair and worrying it won’t grow back after so many years of dying it various colors so he could be hesitant to ever lose it.
