CMLL on Terra: 2013-03-03

recap

taped 2013-03-03 @ Arena Coliseo

Tritón vs Misterioso Jr. in a lightning match: Good for the time, and different with all the dives. Nothing went horribly wrong for Triton or the guy who had to take his moves, outside of that standing moonsault going a bit too far, so that’s a good day both for them and the doctors. There wasn’t much of a story to the match – Misterioso is just a bit more than Triton can handle right now – but the action was good.

Namajague Special?

Fuego & Stuka Jr. vs Namajague & Shigeo Okumura for the Arena Coliseo (DF) Tag Team Championship: Great match. Finish last time was Stuka landing the splash, and a CMLL referee messing it up after felt very natural. It felt different enough from the rest of Stuka & Fuego title defenses; there was enough stuff they don’t really normally do that it didn’t feel like a formula big match. (No cavernaria, though they did do the casadora cradle spot.) These are well laid out as tag matches, with both singles sections and teams working together on stuff. The crowd was very into the match the whole way. Namajague can do athletic things, but he’s even better at the small reaction stuff. Fuego & Stuka are a fun team, I hope this not the end of this, and we keep getting fun tag title matches every three months whatever happens next.

Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Mistico vs Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Niebla: Rudos destroyed the técnicos in the end, and were ahead in popularity before it. Místico didn’t seem to have physical problems, but he didn’t match up with Mr. Niebla with crowd support. IF CMLL is interested in building support for Místico, there’s certain guys they’ve got to keep him away from, and Mr. Niebla is one of those guys. Finish seemed booked to be a shocking turn of events, but instead everyone was pretty much happy with it. About a normal main event otherwise.
