Diamante, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky vs Ephesto, Misterioso Jr., Puma: first couple falls were heavy on Super Porky and Ephesto slow speed comedy. Action picked up in the third fall, and Mascara Dorada was all kinds of neat.
Pólvora vs Valiente for the CMLL World Welterweight Championship: A convincing if brutal looking ending to this match. Match was obviously clipped for TV, but we still got about 12 minutes of good action, and some surprising stuff from both guys. Polvora’s had a shocking amount of singles matches in the last few months (six which have made air since September), and he’s shown an ability to make them all feel different. It’s not just another técnico plugged in to do his signature spots, because Valiente really didn’t get around to do many of his outside the dives – the first fall ending with a unique submission hold is something special to this match. I’d want a little longer match to put in the Great category, but this is at least very good.
Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Psicosis: Fun match which has me really excited for this title match. These two teams seem to mesh together really well. The rudos are excellent stooges for the técnicos bits, the técnicos take the rudos shots well, Mije is Mije, it’s all very good. Finish was nicely done.
