tecnicos defeat Revolucionarios, ex-WWE in Mexico

CMLL (SUN) 01/13/2013 Arena Mexico [@therealfredo, CMLL]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Bengala & Metatrón
2) Cancerbero, Nosferatu, Raziel b Metálico, Sensei, Stigma
Sensei replaced Pegasso. Rudos took 1/3.
3) Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado b Sangre Azteca, Skándalo, Virus
Tecnicos took 2/3 when Virus & Skandalo couldn’t get along. Cancerbero & Raziel helped destroy Skandalo post match. Isis managed to get away unharmed.
4) Marcela b Princesa Sugheit [CMLL WOMEN]
Marcela is the champion and was scheduled to defend against Princesa Blanca, but Blanca came down with the flu. Sugheit took her place. Marcela took 1/3 to win, beating Sugheit with the Michinoku Driver after over shooting her a little bit on a top rope splash. Falls were 5:50, 3:41, and 6:26.
5) Máscara Dorada, Shocker, Valiente b Black Warrior, Terrible, Tiger
Vailente replaced Angel de Oro, still out with injury. Tecnicos took 1/3.
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Titán b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Tecnicos took 1/3, Sombra and Rey Escorpion splitting the last two falls.

Rey Escorpion did a great job of making Sombra’s double moonsault look better for the finish.

Charlie Haas, Carlito, Chris Masters and Johnny Stamboli are listed as working a 02/01 show in Mexico. I wonder if this is what Chris Masters meant by working CMLL in February; it’d make a lot more sense.

LuchaWorld has LuchaWorld Podcast #12.

Rob has highlights of 05/04/12 CMLL.

Bill has highlights of 11/07/12 Ultimo Dragon Lucha Fiesta

Damian 666 will start teaching an amateur wrestling class in February.

Former Monterrey luchador Estrella Dorada has been sentenced to 35 years and 9 months in prison for his part on a kidnapping/robbery plot. Fellow luchador Quinto Misterio is still being sought for his part in the crime but has disappeared.

A Veracruz luchador, Maravilla Orizbena, was arrested for an extortion threat.

IWRG’s take on the Gran Alternativa contest. Kiwby, or however it’s spelled, looked good in his High Power cibernetico appearance.

Mistico lives, resumes career of near death experiences

Wednesday, one of the many questions I had was “why do you run a paid private show on Wednesday morning (instead of a more usual time)?” Well, you run a paid private show on Wednesday morning because you’ve already booked Saturday for a different, paid, private show. This one is for Servicio Panamericano union.

And who should appear on this show

[tweet https://twitter.com/AntTello/status/290258359377088514]

…but our dear amigo Mistico! He’s alive! He’s in one piece! All good news. He’s wearing even more protection on his shoulder, as if they’ve found the magic shoulder formula. I hope so! I don’t think so! But if he’s working here, he’ll be on the Fantasticamania shows, and so at least that part of the story is no longer a story. The part of the story about CMLL putting a guy who’s clearly still damaged and appears to be a danger to himself goes on.

Luchadors are crazy people. CMLL is run by luchadors.

CMLL back on US’s Fox Sports Espanol

Fox Sports Deportes (US version) is now listing a couple of lucha shows show on Sunday evening.

6pm ET has Expediente Fox Sports “El Santo”, a one hour documentary on Santo produced last year. (Some photos here. It doesnt’t seem like it made it online.)

7pm ET has “Lucha Libre CMLL”. Which is – dunno. It’s always tough to tell. The easiest answer is just the same show that airs on Fox Sports Deportes in Mexico – this week, that’d be Rey Cometa vs Namajague, and the tercera and main event from this past week. CMLL programming scarcely makes that much sense, so it could be a random rerun, or a completely different show. CMLL also does it’s best to deny the existence of their television programming, even more so with the shows which air outside of Mexico, so no information is expected to be provided about this one.

Fox Sports Deportes (US version) previously showed CMLL from 2006-2009 (though not particularly consistently.) The last match they showed was Dos Caras Jr. vs Ultimo Guerrero, which seems very long ago. The show moved around a lot during that era due to sports commitments, and it seems like it already will if it’s returned to FSE – the show is listed at 3pm ET next Saturday.

Bufete del Amor painfully keep the trios championship

CMLL (FRI) 01/11/2013 Arena Mexico [CMLLYahoo! Deportes]
1) Hombre Bala Jr. & Super Halcón Jr. b Herodes Jr. & Inquisidor
2) Estrellita, Luna Mágica, Silueta b Amapola, Tiffany, Zeuxis
Tecnicas took 1/3.
3) Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Namajague, Puma, Tiger
Straight falls. Namajague pulled Stuka’s mask for the DQ in the first fall, then the tecnicos distracted the referee so Stuka could successfully pull that trick on Namajague in the second.
4) Diamante Azul b Rey Escorpión [lightning]
German suplex in just under eight minutes
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr.
6) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush DQ Mr. Águila, Psicosis, Volador Jr. [CMLL TRIOS]
Marco Corleone, Rush and Maximo kept the titles, taking falls 1/3. Falls of 6, 4:56, and about 7:56. Rush snuck in a foul on Volador for the winning pinfall. Psicosis, who was already eliminated, ran back in and fouled Rush. He was caught for the DQ. Challenges followed, including masks vs hair.

Poor Namajague. Amapola/Estrellita appears to be going nowhere. Did not hear an update on Mistico on RadioCMLL.

CMLL 52MX aired Pequeno Reyes del Aires and the main event from Sunday.

Princesa Blanca says she knows how to beat Marcela.

R de Rudo has requests for 2013.

Cronicas and Leyendas looks back at Canek vs Don Corleone, and Felino vs Ciclon Ramirez.

GALLI, IWRG, Mexico preview

GALLI (SUN) 01/06/2013 Arena Galli [KC]
1) Mike Anthony & Mojo McQueen b Freek & Joe Fiorz
Anthony choked out Freek for the win. Good opener.
2) Matt Creed, Tommy Heisman, Will Moah b GPA, Punisher 747, Rob Michaels
After Michaels accidentally hit GPA to cause the loss, the rudos turned on him. Tecnicos made the save.
3) Acid Jazz, Marshe Rockett, Willie Richardson DDQ Jon Morales, Mason Conrad, Matt Knicks
Good match though no finish. Everyone was in the ring brawling when the referee gave up on the match.
4) Noriega b Bobby C
Noriega used a woman’s shoe multiple times, and used the tights to beat Bobby. Bobby vowed to return, maybe putting up his NYC title.
5) Nuevo Destructor I, Nuevo Destructor II, Traidor b Atomico, Chico Suave, Golden Dragon
Destructores debuted here, getting their masks before the match from Discovery. (They arrived in ski masks.) Comedic brawl, Destructor pinning Golden Dragon.
6) Calvin Beckham, Emperador, Funebre b Bandolero, Discovery, Pentagono
Quick. Beckham pinned Discovery in revenge from his hair loss.
7) Jake Shinning b Negrotistico [GALLI CHAMP]
Very good match where Shinning was eventually able to superkick Negrotistico to keep the title.
8) Ripper b Dante DVS [cage]
Ring did not enclose the ring, so Dante’s guys were free to run in until Michaels made the save. Ripper used Michaels chain to get the win. Rudos jumped both of them until the Soul Touchaz made the save.

IWRG (THU) 01/10/2013 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Seiya & Serpiente de Oro b Araña de Plata Jr. & Power Bull
2) Black Fury & Cristal b Amazona & La Jarochita
Straight falls for the rudas.
3) Alan Extreme, Cerebro Negro, Eita b Chico Che, Dinamic Black, Saruman
Rudos took 1/3, Cerebro pulling Dinamic’s mask and pinning him in the third. An angry Dinamic Black challenged Cerbero Negro to a title match.
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Centvrión, Dr. Cerebro, Golden Magic
Oficials took 1/3. 911 caught Magic with a counter dropkick for the win.
5) el Ángel, Electroshock, Veneno DQ Eterno, Súper Nova, X-Fly
Veneno’s first match here in a little over a month. Tecnicos took 2/3, Super Nova desperately fouling Electroshock in the third.

CMLL’s show tonight is highlighted by the Bufete del Amor defending the world trios titles against an Invasor trio of Volador, Psicosis and Aguila. It’s Rush’s first match in about a month, and he probably will be celebrating by the end of it; it’s unlikely the Invasors are going to end up with both trios titles in a short time. The Estrellita/Amapola feud continues on in the segunda; might they finally announce a title match for next week?

There’s a text message ticket giveaway contest for the (not quite announced) 2013 Lucha Libre USA Masked Warriors tour. You can win 2 tickets for a show if you’re close enough to one of them, though no dates have been announced.

Mr. Cacao will be holding autograph signings for the CMLL luchadors in Japan next week. There’s a Wednesday event with Mistico, Titan, Maximo and Mephisto announced as scheduled to appear, which suggests that’s the group all going over early. (None are booked on Monday or Tuesday in Mexico.) Thursday has La Mascara, Mascara Dorada, Diamante, Volador Jr., Euforia, Okumura, and Misterioso.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and El Paso results.

Rob has highlights of 12/18/12 CMLL.

Bill has highlights of 09/25/12 CMLL GDL.

What malady will prevent me from going to these match? (maybe the NFL playoffs, actually.)
