Of note – the NFL games aren’t on the Galavision Mexico station this week, but CMLL and AAA remain on Saturday. It’s always possible Televisa could make a late switch, but it’s also possible they’re not getting 2 hours this year. Need to give it a few weeks to see.

== AAA ==

AAA-Televisa: NEW! Something from the Acapulco show, not clear what.

AAA-Fusion: Still in reruns. Still no next taping announced. No taping in two months. Daga & Fenix talked about the Fusion tournament like it was still an ongoing issue.

== CMLL ==

Galavision/Televisa: NEW! They should pick up the Estrallita/Amapola feud, Peste Negra vs Reyes del Atlantida

FOX: The Invasors/Bufete trios title match and probably Fantasma/Stuka/Valiente vs Puma/Tiger/Namajague. This does not air in Mexico until Sunday, but airs in the US on Saturday!

52MX: probably Marcela/Sugheit and the main event Sombra/Titan/Mascara vs Revolucionarios

C3: Mascara/Sombra/Rush vs Rey Escorpion/Terrible/Volador in your sudden title match build up.

GDL: Azul/Shocker/Valiente vs Rojo/Aguila/Psicosis

TVC Deportes (Puebla): Panther/Shocker/Porky vs Invasors in set up to this week’s title match.

En Busca de un Idolo: the final, this time for sure! Mostly because there’s not another episode listed…

Terra: Shocker/Porky/Valiente vs Niebla/Negro/Puma

IWRG-AYM Sports: Consejo vs Trauma I & Negro Navarro

Noches de Coliseo: who can say, but maybe team Noches de Futbol

FantasticaMania, FCK, Monterrey

FantasticaMania kicks off in Japan Friday at 6:30pm local. That’s 3:30am Friday morning here in the Central Timezone, so we’ll have results early tomorrow morning. The big matches on the first night are Dragon Rojo Jr. vs Prince Devitt in a rematch of their September match, Rush vs Yoshihashi in a rematch of their 2011 hair match, and Sombra & Tanahashi vs Nakamura & Misterioso. All three shows will be broadcast live or near live on SamuraiTV. @JH0120 has been posting matches from that channel – Diamante Azul & Rush vs Masato Tanaka & Yujiro went up recently – so he might be one to follow. CMLL Gaceta quick quotes with some of the guys before their trip.

Mistico, Titan and Sombra, who came over to Japan earlier, taped an appearance for SamuraiTV’s “Battle Men” show.

TerceraCaida announced Chuck Taylor as Fenix’s mystery opponent for Sunday’s debut FCK show. A full preview of the card is here. That’s four people that are being flown (or whatever) in – Masada (CZW), Matt Cross, Latin Dragon and Taylor – and the last one is one I’d actually like to see in Mexico so hooray. Of course, I’m thousands of miles away from the show and won’t be going, and there’s logically a case of diminishing returns the more guys you’re bringing in but that doesn’t seem to be a concern.

AAA will have a webchat with Psicosis and Daga today, provided Daga doesn’t get stuck on a highway behind an overturned big rig again. (I would’ve lost my mind.)

It turns out that all the recent IWRG minis, and some of the women, are actually members of Voladorcito’s troupe of luchadors. Their goals for 2013 were to invade IWRG and the United States, so one down.

Rob has highlights of Guerra de Titanes ’12.

Martes Nice shows in Arena Coliseo Monterrey will not include any women fighting in kiddie pools this year. Senor Figueroa is really killing my YouTube views. It does sound like they want a more general festive environment, maybe not heavily wrestling focused. This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentions Eric Bischoff called these guys back to reopen talks about Hulk Hogan coming to Monterrey and they believe there’s a good chance something will happen (but unlikely a match.)

Lineups

Sunday’s IWRG main event has been changed to Negro Navarro & Trauma I defending the tag titles versus Texano Jr. & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. It feels weird Texano is challenging for a regional championship; it seems like it should beneath him as heavyweight champion of the world. Toscano & Trauma II are dropped into the mystery spot in the semimain.

CMLL (MON) 01/21/2013 Arena Puebla
1) Dinámikoo & Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Fuerza Chicana & Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Milenium, Super Halcón Jr. vs Ares, Hijo del Signo, Taurus
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Estrellita, Goya Kong vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Princesa Sugheit
4) Hijo del Fantasma vs Puma [lightning]
5) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Valiente vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Psicosis vs Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky [MEX TRIOS]
Psicosis, Kraneo & Mr. Aguila are the trios champs

Invasors are pretty solid favorites, though the tecnicos have all be treated as big stars.

I believe it’s physically possible for Atlantis to make it to Puebla on time, but that’d be a hard trip. Figure on a replacement. No one else from Japan is on this show, which suggests they didn’t know Atlantis was heading on when they put this one together.

Looks like they’re still headed to Estrellita vs Sugheit, but maybe next week or the week after. That trios match doesn’t have much hope.

indy (SAT) 01/26/2013 Unidad Deportiva Salvador Campa, Veracruz, Veracruz [luchalibreblog]
1) ? vs ?? [torneo Arena Veracruz]
2) Arkángel Sagrado, Kampa Extrem, Silver Boy, Tiburon vs Black Syrius, Dark Goth, Justicia Americana, Matrix
3) Capitán De Los Mares, Capitán De Los Mares Jr., Silver Boy vs Dr. Siniestro, El Enfermero, Químico
4) Dinastía, Odín, Premier vs Espectrito Jr., Halcón Guerrero, Mini Histeria
5) Ricky Marvin & Super Crazy vs Fenix (AAA) & Pesadilla [GHC JH TAG]
Ricky Marvin & Super Crazy are champions

Full card for the previously announced NOAH title match. A title change would be highly unlikely, but it’s really not impossible; these guys aren’t going back to NOAH until March so plenty of time to change the titles back, and these belts might be destined to be in Mexico for a long time since Marvin’s not a full timer.

indy (SAT) 02/02/2013 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Casandro, El Pulpo, Fresero Jr., Súper Muñeco vs El Hijo del Diablo, El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Pirata Morgan, Shu el Guerrero
2) Fishman & Fishman Jr. vs Sangre Chicana & Sangre Chicana Jr.
3) Villano III & Villano IV vs Brazo de Platino & Super Brazo [hair, mask]
Villano III’s hair & Villano IV’s mask against Super Brazo & Brazo de Platino’s hair
4) Carlito & Shawn Daivari vs Angel Blanco Jr. & El Hijo del Solitario

Show was announced on last night’s Tercera Caida. Angel Blanco & Solitario are supposed to be an big rudo duo, are facing foreigners (evil by default.) Carlito and Davari are also working the 02/03 Arena Coliseo Monterrey show.

Brazo de Platino has lost the last five hair matches he’s been in. Super Brazo’s recent record is not as bad (which makes me think we’re just missing more.)

top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. Mistico returned from injury, and made it thru one and half matches before separating his left shoulder again. Mistico returned on a Tuesday, got hurt on a Wednesday, wrestled in a shoulder harness on Saturday, and was announced as off the FantasticaMania shows on Sunday. It’s unknown when he’ll return to the ring, but he did fly to Japan to do interviews. CMLL acknowledged the initial injury and Mistico being taken off shows, but has said no more.
  2. CMLL and NJPW announced the lineups for FantasticaMania, which start Friday. It’s the first time they’re running 3 days of shows.
  3. Rush gave up his CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship, declaring he had no challengers and would rather face Terrible for the CMLL Heavyweight Championship. That title match will take place next week, and a tournament to fill the vacant title will also begin.
  4. CMLL continued hyping their mystery man, who appears to be a foreigner. No debut date has been announced and there’s been a noticeable lack of interest compared to recent CMLL mystery person introductions.
  5. AAA announced the lineup for Friday’s taping in Toluca, their first in nearly a month. They’re still solidly in the slow period.
  6. The CMLL TV show which airs on Fox Sports in Mexico has been picked up again in the US by that verision of that channel. It gives CMLL three different weekly hours of TV in the US (Galavision, 52MX, Fox Sports) despite no plans to run in the country. AAA, who will tell anyone who listens that they’re running in the US in 2013, currently has zero (0) TV in the US.
  • Aereo was the surprising winner of CMLL’s Pequeno Reyes del Aire.
  • An indy promotion is bringing in Matt Cross, Chuck Taylor, Masada and Latin Dragon for a show this Sunday in Coacalco.
  • Consejo, in the midst of breaking up in AAA, are feuding for the tag team titles in IWRG.
  • Juventud Guerrera (Super X) and Ultimo Dragon (Toryumon Mexico) ran their usual shows.
  • People who kept their titles: Terrible, Marcela, Bufete del Amor
