title matches made in Puebla, Rush gives up one belt for a shot at another

CMLL (MON) 01/14/2013 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) Ares & Centauro de Fuego b Dinámikoo & Milenium
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Espiritu Maligno b Asturiano, Magnus, Oro Jr.
Oro Jr.’s debut here (only Herodes from Gen12 has not appeared.) Rudos took 1/3, Disturbio beating captain Magnus.
3) La Comandante, Princesa Sugheit, Zeuxis b Dark Angel, Estrellita, Luna Mágica
Comandante replaced Blanca (flu). Bad second and third fall. Rudas took 2/3, Sugehit surprised Estrellita and beat her. This sets up a title match next week.
4) Sagrado b Tiger [lightning]
Sagrado won with a rosa.
5) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Máscara Dorada b Black Warrior, Namajague, Shigeo Okumura
tecnicos took 1/3, Dorada beating Namajague and Delta on Okumura.
6) Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky b Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Psicosis
Tecnicos took 1/3 in a comedy match, mostly focusing on Shocker and Psicosis. They agreed to a trios title match next week. Shocker said he wanted to win it for all the Guapo people of Puebla, but Psicosis accused Shocker of having bad things to say about Puebla behind closed doors and he (Psicosis) would defend the honor of his hometown.

CMLL Gaceta has a post basically confirming both national title matches (womens & trios) for next week. Also, Zeuxis looks cool in one of the pictures completely ignoring whatever Estrellita had to say.

CMLL (TUE) 01/15/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Informador]
1) Évola & Infierno DQ El Divino & Virgo
Rudos took 2/3. Cause of DQ is uncertain.
2) Bárbaro Cavernario, Herodes Jr., Hooligan b Halcón de Plata, Höruz, Sensei
Rudos took 1/3.
3) Esfinge, Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcón Jr. b Cancerbero, Hijo del Signo, Raziel
Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Kráneo, Morphosis, Olímpico b Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr., Super Porky
Rudos took 2/3. Informador says Angel de Oro wrestled, while CMLL twitter recap says Guerrero Maya. Whoever it was took Kraneo’s finish for the loss and was strechered out.
5) Diamante Azul, Shocker, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Águila, Psicosis
Shocker replaced Atlantis, pulled from this show to go to Japan. (Rojo, also headed to Japan, worked this show anyway.) Tecnicos took 1/3.

CMLL (TUE) 01/15/2013 Arena Mexico
1) Guerrero Negro Jr. & Zayco b Bengala & Metatrón
2) Leono, Metálico, Molotov b Apocalipsis, Inquisidor, Taurus
Leono’s first match since losing his hair. Tecnicos took 2/3, Metalico surprising Inquisidor with an armbar.
3) Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Olímpico [lightning]
Pequeno Violencia replaced Pequeno Olimpico. Dragoncito won in a quick 4:11.
4) Amapola, La Comandante, Tiffany b Dalis la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Silueta
Rudas took 2/3.
5) Delta, Hijo del Fantasma, Tritón DQ Ephesto, Euforia, Misterioso Jr.
Euforia sidestepped the Phantom Attack, then fouled and unmasked him.
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Rey Escorpión, Terrible, Volador Jr.
Rush brought his light heavyweight title to the ring. Rush challenged Terrible to a heavyweight title match after the win. Terrible pointed out Rush is light heavyweight champion and said he wouldn’t defend the title against a light heavyweight. Rush immediately vacated the title, declaring he had no rivals for the title anyway, and demanded a title shot against Terrible next week. Terrible had no choice but to accept.

Rush explains his decision in a CMLL.com promo. Note Rush is already crazily ranting before the recording has started. Normally, the guy gives up his old (lesser) title after winning the new one, but Rush knows how pointless these titles are.  (Rey Bucanero is the NWA LH champ, they’ve never bothered to strip the title despite his long term absence, and he only seemed to get it because they need it for El Luchador plot developments.) Rush is going for the championship of Rush and Terrible, the only battle he really cares about.

A random Tuesday in January with seven days of build (and Rush working two other singles matches in the same week) is a strange way to be doing this.

Rob has highlights of 12/25/12 CMLL.

Terrible is champion

Rush has to be winning. He’s Rush!

90% of the fans (and probably no less than 3 announcers) will understand why the cibernetico ends with two people still left when it does. This bit got booed loudly when they did it with the heavyweight title. I guess they just wanted to make it a two week tournament and not three?

Either La Mascara or Voldaor Jr. will be the national light heavyweight champion by the time this cibernetico rolls around. Maybe they’re setting up another Atlantis/Euforia match!

Dark Angel and Marcela will have a good match if they never tag their other partner.

Good tecnico duo in the opener.

Marco is going to look 18 feet tall on that team.

  1. @Ringo: but then they had Angel de Oro in that match until they listed the finish, so I dunno. Hoping the recap goes up with pictures.
