Mistico off FantasticaMania, videos for sale, lineups

Our friend Black Terry Jr. is looking to raise some funds by selling videos of some of the matches he’s filmed the last few years. You get can the info here. Prices are reasonable.

The great Mistico injury misadventure of 2013 has come to an unsurprising conclusion: he’s off the FantasicaMania shows due to left shoulder dislocation. Atlantis is headed to Tokyo to take his place. NJPW/CMLL have just dropped Atlantis into Mistico’s matches, including the singles match with Euforia on Saturday. That seems like something that might get changed later on. Mistico will still travel to Japan for scheduled meet/greet. After the tour, Mistico will return to Mexico to not wrestle until a sponsor has a show. (He’ll also probably go back to NJPW as makeup at some point.)

Atlantis may have been pulled from today’s Guadalajara show depending on if he’s flown out with the early guys or is leaving tomorrow. He’s not listed on any of the weekend shows, so CMLL prepared for Mistico not going even despite him working that show on Saturday. CMLL prepares lineups weeks ahead of time and there’s no obvious place Atlantis was pulled from. (He could’ve just had the weekend off.)

Today’s Arena Mexico show features a bunch of guys going on that tour, and not a lot of ongoing issues. Ultimo Dragoncito and Pequeno Olimpico meet up in the lightning match; it’s been 8 months since Pequeno Olimpico last defended the CMLL Mini Estrellas championship (against Ultimo Dragoncito!)

On Twitter, Mesias said he’d return to TNA at some point but AAA is his home. AAA TNA will be doing taped themed shows for most of their PPVs this year, and one of the ideas is an international tournament. There’s no guarantee AAA guys will ever show up there, but if they did, that makes as much sense as anyone.

Matt Cross explains who he is and hypes up his match with Daga. There is a weird vibe here. Daga is being portrayed as a young man who man someday make the big time. Daga is the actual world cruiserweight champion of the (arguable) biggest company in the country with international plans. Matt Cross calls himself here ‘the best unsigned talent’ – Daga is signed, Daga is legit, the dynamic here should be Matt Cross wants what Daga has, not Daga is honored to face this international guy. Stop acting minor league, start treating Daga like Canek.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 01/20/2013 Arena Coliseo
1) Camaleón & Robin vs Camorra & Espanto Jr.
2) Magnus, Molotov, Super Halcón Jr. vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Nosferatu
3) Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Tritón vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca
4) Hombre Bala Jr. vs Hijo del Signo [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Puma
6) Shocker, Super Porky, Valiente vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Pólvora

CMLL just as capable of putting on meaningless cards with half it’s stars in Japan. Terra is already promoting the card. Valiente vs Polvora in the main event?

CMLL (SUN) 01/20/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Idolo vs Demonio Maya & Demonio Rojo
2) Leo vs Azteca de Oro, Thunder Boy, Índigo, Relampago Azul, Black Metal, El Tapatío, Acertijo [OCCIDENTE WELTER, semifinal]
championship is vacant. First part of the tournament.
3) Halcón de Plata & Smaker vs Bárbaro Cavernario & Exterminador
4) Rey Cometa & Stuka Jr. vs Namajague & Vangelis
5) Diamante Azul vs Último Guerrero

That’s Metal Blanco’s old title.  The last vacant tournament (after Mascara Dorada gave it up) was in 2009. Of the 10 guys in the match that time, only Acertijo & Thunder Boy repeat. There’s still 8 more guys, but there’s a lot of turnover.

I bet I could call every Azul/UG spot before it happens.

  1. I think 52mx or Viva Sports is one of the broadcasters TNA is doing these special PPV’s for. So why not do a Cinco de Mayo theme?
