Metálico, Super Halcón Jr., Tigre Blanco vs Artillero, Súper Comando, Taurus: A long way to go to get to that ending, and not particularly interesting way to go. Taurus has no particular strong points; he’s not bad, but he’s not really that interesting. Artillero & Super Comando have been more interesting in other matches, though both did take a crazy bump in this match. The técnicos were just about they usually are. Theoretically, this was two falls to save some time, but it can’t have been that much if they still went 15 minutes.

La Sombra vs Volador Jr., Negro Casas, Ángel de Oro, Mephisto, La Máscara, Tiger, Máscara Dorada, Olímpico, Delta in a La Copa Junior semifinal match: GREAT. The funniest CMLL ciberneticos in a while and an easy recommendation. They stacked it full of great guys who just went to town on each other. It started off good, slowed down a bit in the middle, and got really great at the end. The Volador/Negro/Sombra stuff worked great, because it was different in this context and it still made sense. Volador and Negro got mad at each other and then started breaking up each other’s pins, not the other way way around. It was also really clear they wear breaking up the pins not because they thought it was some great strategy move, but they were jerks being jerks to each other. It was also three of the guys the crowd seems to care the most about. Volador and Negro have their fans, but Sombra clearly has the female vote. Even some of the early stuff, like Olimpico’s elimination, was really well done. It would’ve been nice to see Mascara Dorada stick around longer, but he did get to do a lot while he was there and they may actually be telling a long story with Negro Casas always beating Angel de Oro that justified Oro staying longer. I like this the best of Tiger’s 12 different mask changes. It’d be nice if CMLL paid well enough that their top wrestlers didn’t feel a necessity to model their latest t-shirts and hoodies at very inappropriate times.
