Black Terry won in straight falls with a slight amount of cheating. Fuerza was so upset, he challenged Terry to a mask vs hair match. Black Terry accepted (because, really, why not?)

Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. replaced Cien Caras Jr., X-Fly worked twice to replace Bestia 666. Everyone was required to stay in the cage for 10 minutes. Order of escape went Caneks, Capos, FdT, leaving Pirates vs Wagners. Juniors both escaped, and Wagner gave Pirata the Wagner Driver.

AAA’s only taping one TV show in this a 5+ week stretch, and it’s tonight in Acapulco. It doesn’t look like a show that’ll push storylines forward – maybe a little follow up to Guerra de Titanes, maybe check in on Toscano’s status in Consejo, and maybe find out what Konnan’s promise to leave AAA actually means – but it does look like a good show for matches. Dinastia returns to TV for the first time in months in a strong minis match and the Rockers will face Fenix, Drago and Elegido. Main event is Cibernetico, Parka, Mesias vs Chessman, Perro and Psicosis. Texano, who got the big win as the top guy in the company on their last show, is relegated to the semimain.

CMLL has it’s usual Friday night show and equally seems to be moving nothing forward but some good matches. Valiente vs Averno should be a fun matchup we haven’t seen much, and Fuego & Stuka face Namajague & Okumura as part of a trios. It feels like I’ve seen that match so many times, but apparently this is only the 8th time. Main is Azul, Marco, and Maximo vs Aguila, Psicosis, Volador, which will probably send the crowd home happy. Sombra, who got the big win as the top guy in the company on their last show, is relegated to the semimain.

Found an article about the history of lucha libre in Oaxaca. The luchadors quoted in the article say there are 200 luchadors in the area. I rarely see results from the area, which is more about the small percentage of lineup/results we actually see. They say lucha libre was banned in the area from the 50s-70s due to local laws, which appear to have been ignored more than repealed. There was a boom in the 70s and 80s when wrestling came back, and then a slow fall off as lucha on TV became more popular.

Drastick Boy and Ciclope have made peace and will drop their feud to go in different directions in 2013.

Slammin’ Stan returns.

Scaled down show – maybe because there are so many Christmas Day shows! – but it’s the debut of the Mini Oficials. I hear they fight small crimes – loitering, littering, that sort of thing.

No Thursday show this week.
