Konnan Big’s (son) & Beckham lose hair, Atlantis defeats Guerrero, Dr. Wagner’s 2013 plans

indy (SUN) 12/16/2012 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [Luchamania Monterrey]
1) Babe Fox, Extreme Boy, Jack b Chamaco Gurrola, Golden Boy, Pedro Navajas
2) Ninja Jr. & Ultimo Ninja b Genocida & the Beast
3) Big Neurosis & Rico Rodriguez b Erica Sotelo & Larry Miranda
4) Gael L Hijo del Ninja, Silencio, Konnan Big [hair]
On Noches de Futbol, Hijo del Ninja & Konnan Big agreed to a loser gives his wife to the winner cage match. Somehow, Silencio also put up his hair, but he was also first out. Gael, Konnan Big’s son, climbed in the cage and helped his father escape, but then Hijo del Ninja also escaped and Gael was determined the loser. The actual head shaving would go down on the following Monday’s Noches de Futbol.

This was obviously taped, so it may air at some point. Looked like a half house. Konnan Big had a busy 2012 for a guy who was retiring at the end of 2011. This upcoming Sunday is Wagners vs Parks.

GALLI (MON) 12/17/2012 Arena GALLI, Villa Park, IL [kc]
1) Atomico, Flash Metal, Golden Dragon b Chico Suave, Dark Scorpion, El Traidor
Chico Suave is the former ref Peluchin/Rudochi. Golden beat Chico.
2) Jake Shinning b Matt Creed
The Soul Touchaz did not appear and Creed’s usual parnter Tom Heissman was hurt the night before, so this was a unscheudled singles match. Shinning won via Superkick.
3) Mike Anthony & Punisher 747 b Pentagano & Pentagano Jr.
Junior was tied to the post while the rudos beat up Pentagano and won.
4) Jon Morales & Matt Knicks b Freek & Joe Fiorz
Freek & Fiorz were newcomers who won over the crowd but lost after a Morales foul on Freek.
5) Ripper b Gpa
Ripper goes thru another former partner, and got Dante to agree to a cage match on January 6, which would be GALLI’s first ever.
6) Negrotistico b Mason Conrad [GALLI CHAMP, #1 Contenders]
Manson complained about Acid Jazz not being there and said there was no one worth facing, which led to Negrotistico challenging him to a match, and beatinghim for a title shot.
7) Calvin Beckham b Discovery, Emperador Azteca, Noreiga, Bandolero, Funebre [hair]
reverse elimination rules – you beat someone, you escape the match (and you hang around outside to interfere). Order of escape: Funebre, Bandolero, Emperador Azteca, Noriega to leave it as Beckham’s hair vs Discovery’s mask. Tecnicos took the rudos masks and chased them to the back, and Discovery beat Beckham clean to take his hair.

I’ve also put up last week’s GALLI results, which include what appears to be the last defense of the confusing title Skayde and Turbo held; on this show, GALLI announced the new NWA told them they could no longer use that name for title matches, so they’re just sending it back to Mexico. (For his part, Blue Demon Jr. told SuperLuchas that he’s on good terms with the new NWA and just working thru some issues. Sincere question: is the new NWA doing anything besides enforcing it’s trademark?)

CMLL (MON) 12/17/2012 Arena Puebla [CMLL]
1) Ares & Siki Ozama Jr. b Milenium & Tigre Rojo Jr.
2) Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Fantasy, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito
Rudos took 2/3, Pierrothito stealing Dragoncito’s mask in the last.
3) Cancerbero, Hijo del Signo, Raziel b Asturiano, Metálico, Stigma
Asturiano replaced Starman. Rudos took 1/3.
4) Kráneo, Morphosis, Olímpico b Diamante, Sagrado, Tritón
Rudos took 2/3 when Triton and Diamante missed their top rope moves and Olimpico & Morphosis took advantage.
5) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., La Sombra b Euforia, Mephisto, Niebla Roja
Tecnicos took 1/3, Maya beating Euforia to take it.
6) Atlantis b Último Guerrero
Ultimo Guerrero jumped Atlantis and beat him for the first fall. Atlantis took the second with a ‘rana and the third with the Atlantida.

This week’s SuperLuchas #492 is an entertaining read for many reasons. The best is a Dr. Wagner Junior interview talking about his future plans. Wagner explains he’s been working without a contract for many months and prefers to return to the independents, but “members of La Sociedad” (Dorian is mentioned) are trying to get him to sign a new contract. Wagner explains it’s an issue for the lawyers, but he wants out and expects to be out, and it’s turned into a stain on a great year for him. Wagner uses the Mascara mask match at TripleMania as proof of what a great employee he’s been – if he was a negative person, they never would’ve done that match. Wagner mourns the inability of AAA and CMLL to make the Wagner/LA Park mask match they both want – the fans are the true losers, Wagner explains – and hopes there’s some great promoter out there who might be able to put it together. Wagner’s fondest wish is it main events the biggest show of the year, TripleMania XXI CMLL’s 80th Anniversary show. Wagner says he’s been contacted by CMLL and feels all the old rivalries he had in CMLL would be renewed again if he returned to CMLL, plus he could fight all the new people as well. Wagner brushes off his AAA issues as just something the lawyers will resolve and then it’s on to better things for him.

The IWRG recap in SuperLuchas also clears up Factor’s identity – he wasn’t one of the Megas, he was Mega himself. Judging from the luchawiki, I knew this in April and then forgot about it since then. I don’t write things down for your sake, it’s more a personal Memento situation.

There’s also pictures from the ex-WWE show in Merida. Results are here. Photos are dark, but it does not look like it drew especially well. The upper/largest level is sparsely populated (and seems like they invited everyone to move down), though the lower level and ringside seem decently full. They put the rudos over in the main event to set up a rematch, which seems optimistic (both that they can have another show with these guys and that anyone will remember this finish.) Long time California wrestler/ref/promoter Jesse Hernandez worked as referee on the show, so I assume he helped put this together.

Today’s Arena Mexico main event is Dragon Rojo vs Euforia, a sort of rematch from last week and a continuation of the Guerreros vs Revolucinarios feud. The undercard also has Disturbio/Zavala vs Leono/Blanco in a early trios.

Maya is not booked on Friday, must be busy with something else.

R de Rudo looks at the history of some evil clones in lucha libre. It’s a bit Antonio Pena and his decedents have done a few times. CMLL has never done it themselves, even though they had a really easy opening to do it with Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja this year.

Barbaro Cavernario talks about his down (mask loss) and then way up (three hair wins and a title belt) year to Fuego en el Ring. Barbaro suggests his next goal is to win the (vacant) tag titles with his brother – wait, he has a brother?

Box Y Lucha’s website is down due to some problem with their hosting company. I would guess some emails didn’t go to the right person, that’s usually what it is.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 12/23/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Freesbe vs Camorra & Ramstein
2) Astral, Bam Bam, Último Dragoncito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pierrothito
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Valiente vs Puma, Sangre Azteca, Virus
4) Marcela vs Princesa Blanca [lightning]
5) Fuego & Stuka Jr. vs Cancerbero & Raziel [Arena Coliseo TAG]
Stuka & Fuego are champions going for their eighth defense
6) Mephisto, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Máximo, Super Porky

It feels like Raziel & Cancerberos must’ve gotten a shot before, but nope. The closest they got was losing to Delta & Diamante in the semifinals of a #1 contenders tournament. Fuego & Stuka will reach 4.5 years of reigning as champions with a win. I don’t want to make a prediction.

That tercera could be the greatest match Sangre Azteca has been in since they broke up his trio if he holds up his end.

IWRG (SUN) 12/23/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dinamic Black & Golden Magic vs Alan Extreme & Eita
2) Centvrión, Dr. Cerebro, el Ángel vs Canis Lupus, Cerebro Negro, Oficial 911
3) Rayan vs Oficial Fierro [IWRG WELTER]
Oficial Rayan is champion
4) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. vs Head Hunter, Súper Nova, X-Fly

Super Nova is home for the holidays! Undercard subject to change based on who’s in one piece and who’s still working here.
