I watched half of this before realizing I’d seen it already, but here it is anyway. Enjoy the 15 seconds of Saruman & Magnus wrestling in Tony Salazar’s class, and a moment in time where Dragon Lee only existed as someone for Guerrero Maya to do moves on. Imagine if, instead of Reyes del Atlantida, there existed a long running trio of Negro Casas, Hijo del Signo, and Diamante – that would be odd.

Guerra de Titanes, AAA Reina de Reinas in Japan and upcoming TV schedule, Samuray del Sol

AAA held a press conference in Guadalajara to promote Guerra de Titanes. Perro Aguayo, Chessman and Cibernetico were to talk about the main event. Cibernetico said he’d prefer a one on one, and Perro suggested they just let the other four go so they could have itThe TNA surprise wrestler was not mentioned in the cruiserweight ladder match discussion; they didn’t just not mention a name, but they didn’t mention there was supposed to be a guy from TNA at all. Maybe there won’t be? Octagon Jr. was officially announced as La Parka & Octagon’s partner, as presumed. The match is being billed as Consejo vs AAA, but the gimmick is Dorian and Konnan are picking Silver King’s partners. In a separate interview, LA Park says Dr. Wagner always flees from him wherever they go (hmm) but they could settle in the cage. Park is totally uninterested in the other four guys, but would easily beat them should they end up together.

AAA also held a press conference in Japan, to hype today’s Reina de Reinas show with local promotion WAVE. Dorian Roldan traveled with the luchadors to this show, as did the crew from TerceraCaiada. Which leads today’s show

WAVE 11/27 Reina de Reinas:
Sexi Star b Jennifer Blake [Reina de Reinas, semifinal]
Kaguya b Fabi Apache [Reina de Reinas, semifinal]
Ayako Hamada, CIMA, Bashiko b Pimpinela, Lolita, Fenix
Sexi Star b Kaguya [Reina de Reinas]

Sexi Star keeps her title. Fenix impressed in his match.

AAA’s TV announced a year end taping in Acapulco on 12/21. That matches up with what Konnan was saying about the break period. The year end show is usual in Chilpancingo, though they went back there in May (maybe knowing they wouldn’t be going later?) The last taping I can find in Acapulco is July 2007, though there was a planned and canceled taping in 2008. My best guess at the TV schedule is

11/09 Puebla (11/17 & 11/24 – finished up this week)
11/15 Naucalpan (12/01 & 12/08 – everything airs)
12/02 Zapopan/GdT (12/15 & 12/22)
Best of filler show (just 12/29?)
12/21 Acapulco (01/05 & 01/12)
01/10 TBA

They usually run more than one week of filler shows and still could, but the schedule works nicely for just one. The pattern of two tapings shows continues, and will continue until there are more venues they can run.

Today’s Arena Mexico show has Ultimo Guerrero, Terrible, and Tama Tonga taking on Marco Corleone, Brazo de Plata, Maximo. The only built match is Niebla Roja vs Polvora, two rudos on opposite sides of the Guerrero breakup. The biggest match of the day is over in Guadalajara, where Princesa Blanca defends her Mexican National championship versus Estrellita and a title change is realistic possibility.

Diamante replaces Super Porky on Sunday’s Guadalajara show. The bigger news is that card is the same day as Guerra de Titanes, but it’s so ordinary that I didn’t realize it was meant to be opposition. It is a few more CMLL guys than usual, but anyone interested in heading to Zapopan for a six way cage match is not going to be change their minds because of a Volador vs Maximo main event. It is a token futile effort.

Samuray del Sol says he’ll be only using the Octagon Jr. in AAA. I think that’s the right move for him in the US; he can only change to Octagon Jr. later on when he needs a a fresh look for whatever reason. Samuray’s just breaking thru on the bigger promotions, not the right time to make the name change and confuse people. And the reality is, Octagon Jr. is going to mean something in front of the lucha audiences but not really much for the iPPV crowd. That’s where AAA is right now.

Dark Angel talks about her preparation for the bodybuilding contest this Thursday. She makes it sound like a fun challenge. I didn’t know this, but apparently no one knows who’s actually competing in the contest until the day of the contest.

IWRG has a couple of videos talking about the upcoming 50th anniversary of the family promoting in Naucalpan.

Rob has highlights of this year’s Heroes Inmortales.

There’s a column in SuperLuchas this week strongly critical of what I wrote about Pantera I, of the luchawiki, and of this site. I don’t have the time to respond today (and I don’t know that anyone cares about inter-media arguments), but I did want to at least acknowledge I saw it since I think that was the goal. Maybe I’ll get to it on Thursday. Always nice to find out people are actually reading the site, even when they greatly despise it.

Lineups

CMLL HERDEZ (SAT) 12/08/2012 Super Kompras, Santiago Tiangustenco, Mexico State
1) Camaleón & Leono vs Cancerbero & Raziel
2) Atlantis, La Máscara, Máximo vs Averno, Mephisto, Último Guerrero

Tickets free with $40 ($3 USD) of Herdez purchases at the supermarket. Sangre Azteca, recognizable enough to get his mask used for this promotion, not a big enough star to be on the card.

Factor keeps title, IWRG prision, Volador/Maximo, GALLI, Mistico

IWRG (SUN) 11/25/2012 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring, The Gladiatores]
1) Dragón Celestial & Power Bull b Fulgore & Serpiente de Oro
straight falls. Power Bull’s debut on the main show after appearing on a few FILL shows.
2) Dinamic Black, Golden Magic, Niko b Araña de Plata, Eita, Imposible
Niko beat Eita.
3) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Veneno b Alan Extreme, Carta Brava Jr., Eterno
Eterno replaced Canis Lupus, who is officially out with an injury. Tecnicos took 2/3, though Dr. Cerebro had Carta Brava beat and Cerebro Negro stole the win. Dr. Cerebro attacked Cerebro Negro after the match, and title and mask match challenges followed.
4) el Ángel, Hijo de LA Park, Hijo de Pirata Morgan DQ Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Oficial 911
Tecnicos took 2/3. 911 pulled Angel’s mask for a DQ, which set up more mask challenge between the two.
5) Factor b Cien Caras Jr. [IWRG Rey del Ring]
Factor came in as champion. Cien had Hijo de Mascara as his second, while Oficial 911 was forced to be Factor’s second. 911 attacked Cien in the first fall, Mascara ran in for revenge, and Mascara was caught of the DQ. Mascara was kicked out of ringside too. Cien protested that he must have a second, so the commission made Hijo de Pirata come out for it. This didn’t turn out well either, Pirata accidentally hitting Cien with a chair to set up Factor’s win. Mascara, Pirata, Factor and 911 agreed to Prison Fatal match next week where someone will be unmasked.

What’s odd here is IWRG’s twitter says Angel accepted 911’s mask challenge. I thought last night that meant the cage match wasn’t until down the road (and so the the Luchas2000 cover with it was kind of spoiling the Angel/911 finish), but maybe it’s the Angel/911 that’s later? Maybe Angel finds his way into the cage match – but he probably could’ve still been around when they made that match last night and didn’t take part the challenges. This will make sense at some point.

CMLL (SUN) 11/25/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [El Occidental (5), Informador (5)]
5) Máximo, Shocker, Valiente DQ Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
Tecnicos took 1/3, Maximo kissing Volador and Volador fouling Maximo for the DQ. This sets up a singles match next week.

GALLI (SUN) 11/25/2012 Arena GALLI, Villa Park, IL [KC]
1) Ripper DQ Mike Anthony
Anthony low blow dropkicked Ripper, and Ripper managed to get the foul call. This sets up a fans hold the straps strap match between Ripper and Anthony’s manager Dante DVS on 12/09
2) Dark Scorpion & Traidor b Matt Creed & Tommy Heisman
good match, Traidor wins via Gori Special. Traidor demanded rival Atomico come out to face him
3) Atomico b Traidor
quick match.
4) Marshe Rocket & Willie Richardson b Jon Morales & Matt Knicks
5) Bryce Bengajmin & Golden Dragon b Mojo Mcqueen & Rob Michaels
Bryne pinned McQueen. Mojo’s manager Dante DVS blamed Rob for the loss, slapping him. Michaels choked out DVS with his chain until Mojo & Anthony made the save.
6) Jake Shinning b Acid Jazz [GALLI CHAMP]
Mason Conard, who also earned this title shot last week, was not presented with the ring announcer noticing it. Shinning’s friends Morales, Knicks and manager Jason Russo interfered. The wrestlers were run off by the rest of the Soul Touchaz, but Russo still managed to blow Chocolate mist in Jazz’s face to blind him, and Shinning superkicked Jazz to win the title. Shinning pointed at Extreme Tiger after the match.
7) Bandolero & Noriega b Azteca & Calvin Beckham
switched to a pairs match because Fuego couldn’t make the show; Furia Roja snuck into give Beckham a Sliced Bread #2 to give the tecnicos the win. Furia went to shave Beckham, but Funebre ran in for the rudos – then Discovery returned to help the tecnicos! Matches were made for 12/09 (Discovery vs Azteca) and 12/16 (Beckham, Azteca, Funebre vs Rey Fuego, Noriega and Bandolero, elimination match, final two in an apuesta match, admission free with a gift for the toy drive.)

Extreme Tiger signed autographs as the show and is doing a seminar today.

Mistico is still being advertised for an Arena Xalapa show on 12/05, which would be just over 3 weeks from his injury. Tickets went on sale yesterday; they probably should’ve advised the local promoter if Mistico wasn’t coming before he started selling tickets, so I assume he’s working the show.

On his MLW Radio podcast, Konnan mention AAA’s off from 12/21 to either 01/06 or 01/10. That leaves time for one, and maybe two, tapings after Guerra de Titanes. Konnan also feels like the Guerra de Titanes cage match is unlike most lucha cage matches, because everyone who’s in it is a big deal and there’s no obvious loser. (Chessman is the obvious loser to me, but I can generously say he’s not as obvious as some cage matches.) Konnan thinks Vampiro needs to play more off his classic look rather than trying to change things up, because he’ll be more marketable that way, and told a story about Vampiro showing up one day with Nazi gear. Konnan also said “Jeff Jarrett is in our long term plans”, but noted he was carefully speaking about the situation for whatever reason. Konnan also seemed to think Daga won the QPPLC minis division, which may explain why he’s not gotten that cruiserweight title shot. Konnan says Samuray is free to use the Octagon Jr. in DGUSA and elsewhere, but seemed to want keep with his original name.

In Pacucha, CMLL’s Mercurio agreed to a hair match with local tecnico Killer Boy.

Lineup

IWRG (THU) 11/29/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) Galaxie vs Epidemia
spelling change for Galaxy?
2) Dinamic Black & La Cobra vs Alan Extreme & Eita
3) el Ángel vs Eterno [IWRG IC MIDDLE]
Angel is champion
4) Bestia 666, Damián 666, Fuerza Guerrera vs Dr. Cerebro, Pantera, Veneno
5) Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman vs Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Pirata Morgan [super libre]
remach from the previous week

Angel vs Eterno sounds like it could be good.

CMLL (SUN) 12/02/2012 Arena Coliseo
1) Camaleón & Soberano Jr. vs Camorra & Guerrero Negro Jr.
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Pegasso, Starman vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Hooligan
3) Triton vs Skándalo [lightning]
4) Ángel de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr. vs Cancerbero, Misterioso Jr., Raziel
5) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Psicosis
Atlantis team are the national trios champs. Non-title
6) Terrible vs La Sombra [CMLL HEAVY]
Terrible is champion

That’s a good show, not the least because they kept the Cancerberos and Tuareg on separate teams. If this means elevating Razial & Cancerbero, all the better.

Reyes del Atlantida and the Invasors are just locked in against each other. More Guerrero Maya vs Kraneo!

CMLL (SUN) 12/02/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Black Metal & Halcón de Plata vs Espectrum & Sádico
2) Esfinge, Gallo, Smaker vs Bárbaro Cavernario, Maléfico, Ráfaga
3) Dark Angel & Silueta vs Amapola & La Comandante
4) Eros vs In Memoriam [hair]
5) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky, Titán, Valiente vs Euforia, Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Tama Tonga, Último Guerrero [cibernetico]
6) Máximo vs Volador Jr.

Eros & In Memoriam have both lost their masks in the last few months.

Random ciberneticos often set up singles matches.

Where will Mije be? Volador really shouldn’t need Mije’s help to beat Maximo.

IWRG (SUN) 12/02/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) Mini Batista, Mini Rey Cometa, Mini Super Astro vs Mini Espiritu, Mini Psicosis, Piratita Morgan Jr.
2) Centvrión, Cerebro Negro, Dinamic Black vs Alan Extreme, Carta Brava Jr., Eita
3) Oficial AK47 & Oficial Fierro vs Rayan & Spartan
4) el Ángel, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Bestia 666, Canis Lupus, Damián 666
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan vs Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Factor, Oficial 911 [cage, mask, Prison Fatal]

If I understand the main event right, there will be keys hanging in the cage, and you must use them to escape the cage. The last one locked in loses his mask. I guess it’s better than climbing out?  Police never do stuff in prision.

Centvirion and Dinamic Black need to assure Cerebro Negro they’re totally on his side and not on Dr. Cerebro’s, or that will go badly for them.

Minis match is crazy. There’s a lot of mini pirates. Cometa & Espiritu are from Puebla, Espiritu’s been in the QPPLC contest. Batista has turned on a small show lineup, but his entrance needs to make TV here.

Terrible vs Sombra (twice), Puebla TV note

CMLL (SUN) 11/25/2012 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Camorra & Ramstein b Bengala & Robin
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Leono, Metálico, Oro Jr. b Espanto Jr., Herodes Jr., Taurus
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Sangre Azteca, Skándalo, Virus DQ Fuego, Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcón Jr.
Straight falls with the usual Cancerbero/Tuareg issues. Halcon reversed out of the Skandalo Driver with help, Raziel ran in for the DQ, and Virus took Skandalo’s mask. Sangre tried to stay out of it, but talked Virus out of attacking Isis.
4) Sagrado b Vangelis [lightning]
Sagrado won in 7:51 via Devil’s Wings.
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Rey Cometa
Mr. Niebla’s return match here. Rudos hugged referee Rafael el Maya, who turned 68 today. He did not appear to want the hugs. Rudos took 1/3 in a very Pesta Negra match. Negro submitted Panther with a sharpshooter.
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Titán b Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpión, Terrible
Tecnicos took 2/3, Sombra small packaging Terrible in the third. Sombra wasted no time challenging for Terrible’s title, and Terrible accepted for next week.

Terrible and Sombra are already scheduled to face off in Puebla tomorrow night. That one’s non-title.

Blue Demon and Mesias went to a draw in Tijuana.

AAA’s press conference for Guerra de Titanes is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Maybe we’ll find out some of the mystery people?

SuperLuchas #490 has the Guerra de Titanes main event, a Survivor Series report, and Azul & Rush in Japan, provided I looked at the right cover this week.

Luchas 2000 #648 has the same GdT main event, but also a tease of a Factor, Pirata Jr., Oficial 911, and Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000 cage match loser loses a mask (at least that’s what I assume a Prison Fatal is.) That is either a change of plans or a big spoiler for next Sunday.

Segunda Caida’s Eric watches last week’s Puebla. This week’s was a rerun (maybe still worth watching – and worth taping for me since it was two matches I didn’t have up complete), but it did have two matches I didn’t have complete on YouTube. It is interesting that the Mistico injury week didn’t air, though I’m not sure if this is a plan or a semi-happy accident. There was still enough material for a two hour show from Puebla even if they cut out the main event.

I enjoyed the Santo & Demon promos from this week’s Tercera Caida

Lucha y Tinta Libre looks at Super Crazy’s career.

Lucha Libre in Japan

11/25 REINA: Leon b Amapola (c) for the REINA CMLL International Championship
Leon took falls 1/3 to win back her title, the last with a frog splash.

11/25 NJPW: Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. [O] b Rush & Diamante Azul [X]
Rush & Azul are 2-2, 4 points, still in the big tie for second. Their next match is Tuesday, versus Strong Man and Nakanishi. Note that Azul is taking the pins and Rush is getting the wins.

Lineup

XMW (SAT) 12/08/2012 Mexico City
1) Chica Ye-Ye, Corsario Negro, Diablo, Fly Metalix, Metaleon vs Black Puma, Fly Warrior, Harry Boy, Mamba, Yoruba
2) Dollar vs Heavy BoyLunathor
3) Arez vs Fly StarFulgoreMr. LeoMaidenSick BoyOscuroOjo Diabolico [Copa Preposada XMW]
4) Saruman vs BelialTorniImpulso [XMW JUNIOR]
Saruman is the champion.
5) Marcela vs Ludark Shaitan [XMW WOMEN]
new championship?
6) Hijo del Fantasma vs Dance BoyTerremoto [DF LH]
Hijo del Fantasma is the champion.

Hijo del Fantasma’s first known defense, or at least an attempt at it. The XMW crowd didn’t seem to like Averno on the last show, but maybe Fantasma will work out better in a different context? Rooting for Ludark to avoid CMLL having another title – heck, rooting for Dance Boy and Terremoto while I’m at it.

The press release doesn’t actually mention the name of the building.

CMLL (SAT) 12/15/2012 Cancha German Evers
1) Dr. Necropcia, Love Warrior, Pajaro, Yagar vs Flash Boy, Gargola, Halcon Dorada, Simbolo (sinola)
2) Sari Kay & Tygon vs Baby Lee & Misterio Blanco
3) Doberman, Drako, Tony Golden vs Argus, Barbaro, Mercury Boy
4) Kokina & Mercurio vs Tiger (mazatlan) & Zigma
5) Cholo Chris, Dark Fire, Payaso vs Black Ninja, Fly Metal, Wilbert

Air Date: 12/05 and 12/12? Not sure how this will work, but it won’t air until after Guerra de Titanes. This is being taped for Fusion, but looks like an Perros del Mal production.

Garza did not appear on the show, said to be due to his medical treatments. Attendance looked good.

Perros del Mal did mention Daga and Hijo del Lizmark would be this card on Friday, but didn’t mention the part about him subbing for the Traumas. The card wasn’t announced besides the top two matches, so it sounded at the time like they were working other matches. I don’t know, but I’d guess they were pulled off this show for opting out of the last one.
