Dallys

Dalis la Caribeña, León, Silueta vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Princesa Sugheit: The match wasn’t as bad as that gif. As embarrassing as Dallys’ springboard to nowhere is – and it should be embarrassing to everyone involved – my bigger problem with her in this match was her woeful timing on selling. She had multiple occasions of being hit, and waiting a beat to fall. It’s not something that should be happening as often at this point, but it still does. Again, Leon was okay, but I didn’t understand the reason why she was here. I’m not totally sure that was her fault. I would like to see Silueta in a better match.

I know this isn’t UWFI but c’mon

Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Namajague, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura: different worked match, without the usual beatdown/comeback. Not sure they actually meant it to be different, came off more as just no particular plan and just guys getting thru a match. Namajague will get the rope walk to work eventually!

Kraneo shows off his moves

Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Kráneo, Olímpico, Psicosis: short easy win for the ex-champions. If they actually had the title match planned in advance, this nicely set up the idea that Reyes del Atlantida is still a good team. If not, it was nice inoffensive win that was quick enough to leave plenty of time for the main event. Guerrero Maya vs Kraneo in a lightning match remains a fun unrealized idea.

SUPERKick

La Sombra vs Volador Jr.: Great match. I liked this one a lot more than last week. It did have the same long pauses in stretches and almost overdid it with dives early, but they built it better given the time and they earned those breaks. They did the bits they’ve been doing against each other for the last two years, but it still felt like they were expanding on what they were doing to make this an evolution of their matches, not a repeat. (The Volador Spiral #2 just works really well with them, and the double moonsault spot was perfectly timed.) Both guys were selfless, allowing their opponent to kick out of their big moves, and Sombra cheating Volador to win after those many times Volador did the same seems fair enough. Plus, the long post match back and forth tease of a mask match did a fine job of distracting the fans from the actual result. The way CMLL works, these two are never going to be able to have that mask match, at least not while they’re both at the peak of their powers, but I do feel like we get about 90-95% of what those matches would be when they have these singles matches.
