Marcela keeps her title, Anniversary matches on TV, Hiroka retiring

CMLL (MON) 09/17/2012 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio, CMLL Gaceta, Porra Fresa]
1) Asturiano, Black Tiger, Lestat b Akron, Espiritu Maligno, King Jaguar
Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Súper Comando b Stigma [lightning]
Comando with a slight upset win.
3) Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo b Molotov, Pegasso, Starman
Straight falls for rudos.
4) Misterioso Jr., Pólvora, Virus b Delta, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr.
All straight falls for the rudos. Fuego eliminated Virus in the second, but Virus tripped him up from outside to set up a Misterioso pinfall. Fuego demanded a rematch with Virus.
5) Marcela b Amapola [CMLL WOMEN]
Marcela came in as champion and worked thru a knee injury. Seconds were Skandalo and Stigma. She took falls 2/3 to keep the title. Announced as her sixth defense, though only five are known. Best title match of the Marcela title defenses here (Princesa Sugieth, Seductora)
6) La Sombra, Prince Devitt, Shocker DQ Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Taichi
Tecnicos take 2/3, Niebla fouling Devitt. Bad match. Shocker was way out of it and the crowd let him know they weren’t happy. Sombra tried.

CMLL announced Rush vs Terrible will air on Televisa/Galavision, while Puma King vs Rey Cometa will air on Fox Sports. Rob notes there’s probably not enough time to air a second match; it’s either a one match show, or they’ll be pulling in a lightning match from a previous show. That would mean the Mistico match airs on Fox Sports. (And just like that, half my work tonight is done.)

Hiroka, who left CMLL in 2010 to have kids, has now said she’s officially retired and is selling her gear and is selling her gear on Demus’ Facebook page.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and this week’s posters.

  1. Hopefully Fox Sports airs in Peru this week. Its been harder to find now that NFL has started up.

Titan and Triton both in singles matches on Tuesday? That has to be a first in Arena Mexico if we don’t count tournaments.

  2. @Alan: Actually two weeks ago when Titan/Polvora had that great title match the undercard had Triton vs Virus in a lightning match! I think Tuesday shows are now reserved for singles matches involving people who have names that start with ‘T’.:p

Seriously though – I am perfectly fine with having the Tuesday shows just be used to get younger guys experience in singles matches and get them into a mix of working with the top guys. No fans are going anyways so it really doesn’t matter if Shocker, Porky & Olimpico are all over the lineups.
