moonsault DDT

Chessman & Juventud Guerrera vs Extreme Tiger & Halloween and Joe Lider & Psicosis and Jack Evans & Teddy Hart in a relevos cage match : Usually match of this type – random big spots, some good, some not very good, no logic to the match and everything forgotten in a month. This one was a bit worse than usual because the production team missed shots early and then totally blew the Chessman finish by not turning on the lights in time. Not that this is surprising, because it’s something AAA doesn’t seem to care about, but this match made absolutely no sense given the rules of the match. Guys should’ve known if they were meant to be helping their partners escape so they wouldn’t have the apuesta match later, or if they should’ve been fighting and helping their fellow rudos. The Psicosis/Lider stuff made no sense – did Psicosis only figure out halfway thru the match that he shouldn’t have been stapling Joe Lider in the head? Why then? Why did no one else?

can’t do one of these without a big fail

Joe Lider vs Psicosis for the hair : This is not a match I was possibly going to like, don’t know what to right here. It was exactly what you’d expect it to be. Probably should be sad these two were killing themselves for such a dismal reaction by the middle of the match (before Tirantes saved it by going full rudo), but sadness is not what I felt. They did the one spot they had built up, the staple gun, to start the match and then had nothing that people hadn’t already been desensitized too. The table breaking on them screwed up their finishes. I believe Angel de Oro sold Negro Casas’ casita longer than Joe Lider sold taking a powerbomb on thumbtacks at TripleMania.

Perro was robbed

El Mesías vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship : In this one, the psychology was right. It just didn’t seem for the right guy. Perro, the crowd favorite most of the way, courageously stood up to the hulking bully, smartly finding his weakness (Mesías arm, which didn’t seem to bother him except for that one section Perro was in control and not even much then), hitting his move to win the match only for the other side to cheat him out of a deserved win, and valiantly surviving one big move after another despite copious loss of blood. Perro only finally lost when the bully’s friend interfered. It’s a great story, it just didn’t seem to be the story they wanted to tell. Whatever it was, this was a good performance from Perro and a just an okay one from Mesías, who did not show up in the shape to do his usual TripleMania match, probably due to his injury.

The martinete controversy did not make sense. They made it clear Copetes was not watching the ring and would not have seen the move disqualified Perro if he had done it (putting aside how odd it would be for that to be a DQ when absolutely nothing else was apparently worth one.) The chair shot, and the blood it caused, came off as much stronger. I’m not sure if the teased blood stoppage was planned or not, but it did seem like the doctor would have tried stopping the match if Perro didn’t kick him away.

  1. Well that was fun! I watched that 2nd gif 6 or 7 times before I saw the intact table–it seemed like it was just blinking into existence due to the camera angle!

Love your reports and your gifs, BTW–keep it up!

  2. Actually depending on how you look at the Perro spot, it could’ve also been a cool spot as he just slides down into a pin…

Joe Lider’s whole career is a big fail…

  3. Poor Chessman…seeing Vamps throw, it was probably best the lights didn’t go on. Abyss as a partner, feud with Vamp., poor guy. I was actually amped to see some tag moves from the former teams. I love HF2, but man…this whole match just made no sense. Plus the moonsault DDT spot was sweet…too bad it took forever to set up cuz nobody knew what the hell they were doing.
