recap

taped 2012-05-22 @ Arena Mexico

Super Halcon doing the best he can.

Metálico, Sensei, Super Halcon Jr. vs Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando: I do not believe in the wrestling licensing standards of Mexico City as long as Super Halcón is allowed to roam free. He was so bad in the first fall and just plain bad in the other ones. Disturbio looked very much like a rookie at times too, while the others were the professional selves. There must be a way to use Super Comando more.

HOOLIGAN CRASH

Fuego, Rey Cometa, Titán vs Hooligan, Loco Max, Skándalo: It wasn’t far off from the usual match, but the crowd got into it. The Tuareg aren’t much of an interesting team when they’re on the offense and the new rules don’t help that, but it was more a tecnico dominated affair. I’m not quite sure why Hooligan has decided to start prepping for the 2013 Reyes del Aires but it’s a sight to see.

Mije can’t handle much more of this

Diamante Azul, Máximo, Rush vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Yujiro: Yujiro did not get in the ring with Diamante Azul & Máximo at any time, and was very interested in pulling Rush out of the ring for the first two falls before doing the finish. It was not an inspiring performance. Everyone else was just going thru the motions. Not promising.

Mascara Dorada!

Máscara Dorada vs Psicosis for the CMLL World Welterweight Championship: This was a good match. Dorada did a lot of crazy things, and all of them very well. Psicosis kept up with him well, even with his own self imposed wig handicap. My big problem with might be nit picky, but it started to annoy me by the end of the match – Dorada kept using the same setup spots time after time and after time. I lost track of how many times Dorada charged at Psicosis, Psicosis flipped him to the apron, and Dorada slapped him away to set up whatever springboard spot they wanted to do. There was other stuff over done in this match (way too much of Psicosis’ offense was waiting for Dorada to springboard and then countering his move), but the flip bit was crazy repetitive. Everyone does of this style it in CMLL, but never has it seemed like so much. It is possible for Dorada to do something to Psicosis to keep him in the ring, and then go to the apron on his own volition, but it’s not something he ever tried here. The Mephisto title match sticks out as much better in that regard, and a preferred match.
