CMLL (TUE) 06/05/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Kaiser Sports (rest), Kaiser Sports (title)]
1) Camaleón & Robin b Bobby Zavala & Disturbio
Tecnicos took 2/3. Camaleon pinned Zavala
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo b Ángel Azteca Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Pegasso
Rudos took 2/3.
3) Fuego, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado b Niebla Roja, Raziel, Sangre Azteca
Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Ephesto b Guerrero Maya Jr. [lightning]
Ephesto beat Maya in 6’12”, his second lightning match win in 11 days.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada b Euforia, Felino, Negro Casas
First time Generacion Dorada has teamed since January. Euforia replaced Mr. Niebla. Tecnicos took 1/3, Mascara pinning Negro with the casita.
6) Rush b Yujiro [CMLL LH]
Seconds were Sombra and Namajague, looking odd in street clothes and an open mouth mask. Yujiro took first with a suplex, Rush won the second with an armbar (but almost got himself DQed). Rush escaped a German suplex in the third, and beat Yujiro with his piledriver to keep the title.

Rush declared he does not respect anyone and is scared of no one, and is willing to take on Ultimo Guerrero, Mr. Niebla, Yujiro, “or even that little girl Terrible” in an apuesta match at any time.

CMLL went down from six edecanes per show to four a while back, and were down to three this show. The economy is a terrible thing. CMLL’s Twitter only listed three names, but there were four edecanes.

Dorian Roldan was on Tercera Caida last night. I’ve not seen the interview, but the part that caught R de Rudo’s eyes was Dorian saying he’d like to bring in Kurt Angle to face LA Park at TripleMania. The people who do watch TNA tell me Angle’s still really good when he’s not hurt, and Angle vs LA Park would probably be another epic LA Park TripleMania match. However, AAA’s done about nine straight months of LA Park having problems with Jeff Jarrett, so if LA Park isn’t beating Jeff Jarrett at TripleMania, I want those nine months back. I’m not sure why you would sabotage your own storyline like this, but it could just make a lot more sense in context.

I do hope Angle is coming though, because throwing his name out without bringing him in will just antagonize people. Kurt Angle versus Doctor Wagner Jr. would be great, and about a thousand times bigger than Doctor Wagner Jr. vs Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., mask or no mask. AAA has tried to bring in Angle in previous years, but balked at the price. Ken Kennedy (who didn’t seem to be that big of a deal to the fans the last couple of times) and Rob Van Dam were also suggested as possible LA Park opponents.

Amapola & Tiffany told Kaiser Sports that Esterllita always talks about claims she wants to do hair matches but won’t actually sign the contracts, and Marcela is only interested fighting for championships but never really wants to do apuesta matches. They’re ready to move on to other people, but Goya is in France, Lluvia is out injured (!), so Lady Apache is the only one left. The rudas would be willing to face the tecnicas in a hair match if they were serious about it. The real key from this interview is I finally realized Tiffany is dressed up as the Black Widow. So many Avengers.

Puma King says Arissma was his favorite when he was a child (???), and he celebrated the mask win by going to the gym. Puma feels, even though he didn’t win En Busca de un Idolo, he learned from the judges and it will serve him well in future tournaments. You know, the really great thing about En Busca de un Idolo is they’ve resisted running another tournament until this one is over. It’s going to lower the number of the tournaments just by going forever.

BBC Fast Track has a piece on Lucha Libre. Find out that lucha libre is so popular the last few years, they’re now running shows in small bars (for the first time!) Thrill at seeing the AAA opening card guys do spots. Watch more than the first minute, hopefully, although that’s where the video stopped loading for me. When I go to Mexico, I should just pay someone to pretend to be the host of my fictional US TV show, and then we’ll be able to do anything.

Lucha Libre in Japan

NJPW 06/06: Rocky Romero [6] b Angel de Oro [8] [BOSJ]

Technically, Angel de Oro is in a tie for first. Technically, he still has a chance to advance if he beats KUSHIDA tomorrow. Technically. See Also: Mask Mania gets autographs on the first day of this tournament, including from film maker Angel de Oro.

  1. Angle says he’ll retire when he turns 46 so that gives him about 2 more years so if he’s going to be in Triplemania it might as well be this year.

  2. I have a feeling a double women’s hair match will headline Arena Mexico the weekend of Triplemania.

  3. Hey !
    Thanks for these news !
Just a question : do you know where I could see the video of the match Rush vs Yujiro pls ?
