Lucha Fan Fest, IWL/DTU, Neza, Sangre Azteca takes out Stuka, Trauma I out of action

LEGEND (SAT) 05/19/2012 Plan Sexenal, DF [SL464]
1) Epidemia b Shadow Phoenix [GALLI CHAMP]
First defense.
2) Centvrión, Chapuline Negro, Latin Star, Tritón (IWRG) b 14K, Hanaoka, Kansuke, Nihon Dragon
Elimination Order: Nihon Dragon (Latin Star), Latin Star (Kansuke), Hanaoka (Centviron), Centviron (14K), 14K (Triton), Triton (Kansuke), Capuline Negro (Kansuke), leaving Capuline Negro as the sole survivor for team Mexico.
3) Io Shirai & Keira b Chik Tormenta & La Vaquerita
Io wore a mask. Referee el Negro was honored by Canek and the promoter after this match.
4) Fenix (AAA) b Sugi SanDark DragonMagnus
Magnus looked like he’d rather be some place else, while Fenix/Dark Dragon looked great. Elimination order went Magnus (Sugi), Sugi (Fenix), Dark Dragon (Fenix)
5) Cuervo & Ozz b Sasuke Secret & Satoshi Kajiwara
Ozz Driver on Kajiwara.
6) Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kento Miyahara, Mitsuhiro Kitamiya b Halloween, Trauma I, Trauma II
Miyahara pulled Trauma II’s mask and rolled him up for the win.
7) Canek & Kensuske Sasaki b Héctor Garza & Nosawa
Canek pinned Nosawa. Canek & Sasaki (as Mayan Warrior and Power Warrior) steamrolled the other team. Garza was sterchered out.

Show will air on SamuraiTV, assuming Nosawa wasn’t carrying the tape too.

AAA IWL DTU (SAT) 05/26/2012 Centro de Convenciones Tlalnepantla [Black Terry Jr. (flickr)Estrellas del RingR de Rudo]
1) Babel, Red Monster, Romeo b Corcel Infernal, Químico Jr., Sismo Negro
2) Arkanos, La Vaquerita, Mini Histeria b Impulso, Keira, Mini Charly Manson
Lily Fighter was originally advertised in Keira’s spot, but they mentioned the change ahead of time.
3) Eterno, Hormiga, Pesadilla b Centinela, Emo Extreme, Sepulturero I
Black Fire replaced Hormiga. Fresero joined ATM. The rest of the Masizos were out to help Eterno, but turned on him after the match. Terremoto joined up with the group and Ciclope is the new leader.
4) Tony Rivera L FlamitaFreelanceDrastik Boy [hair]
listed as a hair match, though Flamita & Drastic Boy are masked. Flamita pinned Tony Rivera to take his hair. Tony tried to walk out without getting his hair cut, but Crazy Boy appeared to stop him. They set up a match for whenever Crazy Boy is healthy. It appears Tony got his hair cut a bit, but not shaved.
5) Carta Brava (IWL) & Fantasma de la Ópera b Carta Brava Jr. (IWRG) & Dinamic Black and Aero Boy & Paranoiko
Dinamic Black replaced Black Terry. Paranokio & Aero Boy went out first. Fantasma pinned Dinamic, Carta IWRG accidentally hit the ref and Carta IWL snuck in a foul on him.
6) Cerebro Negro COR Violento Jack and Mad Man Pondo
Cerebro Negro was left in bad shape, but the other two got counted out (count out in an extreme match?) and Negro won by being half dead in the ring.
7) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Ángel o Demonio, León Rojo, Ovett [IWL TRIOS]
Moved to the semimain. Originally AAA trios titles vs IWL trios titles, but Psycho Clowns lost the trios titles to Consejo earlier this week. FdT – Damian, Bestia, X-Fly and new recruit Eterno – ran in to attack the Psycho Circus. However, when Angel o Demonio held Psycho Clown for a shot, one of the FdT hit him by mistake, and Psycho Clown dropped Angel O Demonio for the win and title change. Challenges all around.
8) Joe Lider b Super Mega [hair, cage]
Mike Segura did not appear. Joe Lider was beaten half concious and blind, so they stopped the match and everyone was very concerned and Lider was strechered to the back. And then Lider returned and won the match anyway via escape. Unsure how much Super Mega got cut.

Your IWL talent count: 40 people in matches, at least seven more interfering. This time, turnout looks really great, full or close to it.

AAA (SAT) 05/26/2012 Arena Neza [The Gladiadores]
1) Black Lancer, Espanto Jr., Taurus b Génesis, Oro Jr., Templario
2) Black Thunder, Súper Colt, Vampiro Metálico b Centvrión, Terrenal, Turbo
3) Bazooka, Henry, Trauma II DQ Gran Markus Jr., Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
Samurai del Sol & Adam Cole ran in to attack Trauma II.
4) Comando Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Mike Segura b Guerrero Mixtico, Neza Kid, Skayde
Comando Negro & Guerrero Mixtico feuded, with Guerrero Mixtico demanding a mask vs mask match.
5) Cibernético, Extreme Tiger, Juventud Guerrera b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Texano Jr., Toscano
Tiger replaced Mesias, who did appear to explain his arm injury. Tecnicos took 2/3

There’s a few different conclusions you can come to about Segura opting to work a half full Arena Neza than the IWL show. (But I’d much rather see this match.)

Rayo Tapatios working an AAA headlined show looks odd, especially since they’re still wearing their CMLL gear. Their names have popped up a few times in Neza but only in Neza since the mask match, and they seem content to just to occasionally work around home.

CMLL (SUN) 05/27/2012 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Bronco & Cholo b Robin & Soberano Jr.
Rudos took 1/3.
2) Camaleón, Leono, Molotov b Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Inquisidor
Tecnicos took 1/3. Camaleon appears to be hurt in post match photos.
3) Sangre Azteca b Stuka Jr.
Moved down to third. Stuka toped Sangre Azteca at the beginning of the match, but Sangre stuck in the counter dropkick for the first fall win. Stuka had problems in the second fall, but still landed the torpedo plancha to tie it up. Sangre took the third with a crab variant. Stuka was taken to the infirmary, due to the devastating nature of Sangre’s new hold.
4) Namajague, Vangelis, Virus b Fuego, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
Moved up to fourth, with Rey Cometa replacing Angel Azteca. Rudos took 2/3, Virus beating Cometa in the third.
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Tecnicos took 2/3. Rudos were DQed for excessive violence on Porky in the second, Shocker beat Averno in the third.
6) Diamante Azul, La Máscara, Máximo b Felino, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
Diamante beat Ultimo clean with a German. Ultimo ripped off Diamante’s mask and demanded a singles match.

Dunno what happened with Sangre Azteca that has so rapidly changed his career arc, but if he knows, maybe he should teach a class and pass on that knowledge to others. Not three weeks ago, he was in stuck in tecnico purgatory, now he’s beating people clean and sending them out on a strecher. He’s still in the same match he was before, but it seems much more promising.

Full results tomorrow, but looks like Head Hunter, X-Fly and Damian picked up the IWRG trios titles.

One of the Traumas is out a month with a knee injury, according to this post on their Facebook page. The author says “my brother” but it’s not clear who’s writing the post. Both wrestled in Tijuana on Friday, but only Trauma II made it to Neza, so it’s probably Uno out hurt.

Samurai del Sol pinned Adam Cole in the main event of the Lucha POP show. It turned into a four way with Extreme Tiger and Terremoto Negro (but no Black Terry.) It was a two match show, though they also had a DJ and a band performing.

SuperLuchas #464 has interviews with Pierroth, Juvi, el Consejo, as well as the debut of a new column on the week in CMLL by Dr. Lucha!

Rob has highlights of mid October 1997 AAA, mid July 1998 AAA, and last year’s CMLL C3 show at the lucha libre expo.

LuchaWorld has Extreme Tiger, Jushin Liger, X-Fly, and Chessman on the Top 100 countdown, and KrisZ’s news update.

NJPW 05/26: Angel de Oro b Taichi [BOSJ]

Oro starts off the tournament with 2 points. This was one of the matches that looked like a possible win, so it’s a positive to see him take it. Angel de Oro won with what they called Arras de Oro, a pinning move with the victim’s leg wrapped around Angel de Oro’s neck. Nothing I can recall seeing him use in Mexico for a finish; guess he didn’t it to be on their scouting reports! Angel de Oro was said to look good in his debut. Oro is off until Wednesday, when he faces Gedo.

NJPW announced their G1 tournament would take place the first two weeks of August. Sombra participated last year. It’s possible he might return, or someone like Rush might go. NJPW is likely to send a junior heavyweight wrestler over to CMLL during this period.
