recap

taped 2012-03-27 @ Arena Mexico

Tigre Hispano has a great view of the mat.

Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito vs Aereo, Eléctrico, Fantasy : Warrior & Olímpico screwed up the second fall by not being in position to break up a pin, but Tigre Hispano contributed by ignoring Pierrothito getting up his shoulder. It’s not too hard to see if you’re actually looking it. Tiger Hispano appeared to be looking down at the mat right in front of him, not at the pin. Maybe the reason CMLL does so many falls without real near falls is because these referees can’t be counted on to count near falls correctly.

Rey Cometa uses his head

Ángel Azteca, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus : Not an exception match, but a well done match between the two teams. Fun watching as long as you don’t mind everyone wearing the same colors. Rey Cometa changes up his moves here, and his interactions with Virus made me hope for a title match between the two. Someday!

the sort of flipping we take for granted

Diamante, Stuka Jr., Triton vs Euforia, Misterioso Jr., Vangelis : a Stuka/Misterioso heat up match, which is kind of unnecessary when they’ve been having matches for about six years and 90% end with Stuka going to the middle rope to face Misterioso on the top rope and taking a Rosa Driver. This was probably more doing something to make the show a bit shorter since they had the lightning match. Not short enough for us to see the lightning match, but keep trying.

giant Brillante Bomb

La Sombra, Máximo, Prince Devitt vs Rey Bucanero, Rey Escorpion, Último Guerrero : Fine enough setup to another Bucanero/Maximo match. I’m not really excited to see it again, but since I’m one of about twelve people who saw them do this in Guadalajara (with Zacarias!), I’m not a good standard to decide this. They didn’t ask Prince Devitt to do anything extraordinary but he fit in fine here, and the match went well. Nice touch to get Bucanero back in the Guerrero gear for this match.
