Puebla, NotiAAA, Yujiro, CMLL rankings

CMLL (MON) 04/30/2012 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) Lestat, Milenium, Tigre Rojo Jr. b Arissma, King Jaguar, Policeman
tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Bronco, Inquisidor, Puma King b Höruz, Metatrón, Stigma
Rudos took 2/3.
3) Namajague, Vangelis, Virus b Delta, Sagrado, Stuka Jr.
Tecnicos took 1/3.
4) Máximo, Rush, Super Porky b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Straight falls for the tenicos.
5) Dragón Rojo Jr. b La Sombra [CMLL MIDDLE]
Dragon took 1/3 to keep the title. He looked better than the prior week.

There was no on En Busca de Un Idolo web show, as had been previously mentioned. C3’s Karla did mention on Twitter that Euforia defeated Diamante and Titan & Niebla Roja went to a time limit draw. Not sure when they’ll be revealing these results – maybe on this week’s C3 show?

AAA’s posted a NotiAAA segment on their YouTube channel. (Did this air? Planning to watch AAA tonight.) It’s great that they’re finally doing this. In the five minute bit, Mesias’ surgery is shown. The doctor says he’ll be good in three months. Mesias walking around in real life in a sleeveless jacket is the most notable thing in this segment. Also, it appears La Parka rejoined the tecnico side because Dorian stood him up for a meeting. I’d do the same. There’s a Jeff & Karen Jarrett promo at the end (and nothing after it), just advising you.

CMLL.com posted a mean foreigner Yujiro promotion, perhaps to remind us that he’s the guy from No Limit we’re not supposed to like. CMLL needs to do Yujiro versus Diamante Azul trios for a long while. (Diamante Azul actually safely German suplexed Dragon Rojo on Cadena3 this week, it was amazing.)

Rob has highlights of 05/06/11 CMLL and May 96 AAA, but the most important thing is his ranking of the CMLL luchadors. There’s a lot I agree with, though Hijo del Signo is way too low. Rob says he’s doing the women and minis later, but I want a ranking of the CMLL referee too.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 05/08/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Robin & Soberano Jr. vs Apocalipsis & Cholo
2) Lluvia, Luna Mágica, Silueta vs La Seductora, Lady Afrodita, Tiffany
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Titán vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
4) Dragon Lee vs Puma King [En Busca de un Idolo]
5) Triton vs Pólvora [En Busca de un Idolo]
6) Hijo del Fantasma, Super Porky, Valiente vs Ephesto, Euforia, Mephisto
7) Diamante Azul, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Psicosis

I see Diamante Azul is going for his biggest suplex yet.

It’s weird seeing Busca members on Busca shows in non tournament action. Titan vs Cancerberos should be fun.

Lady Afrodita debuted back on the Arkangel tribute show last year (as a tecnica), immediately went to REINA, came back, and went back in to the group of trainees who aren’t quite ready enough to make TV yet, so it’s been a long time since CMLL matches for her.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. AAA announced Mesias would be out three months after arm surgery. The injury was attributed to an attack by Perro Aguayo back at the start of April, though it wasn’t until the end of April when Mesias actually had surgery and he was working the day prior. AAA appeared to know enough about the injury ahead of time to do the injury angle, but they also had Perro challenge Mesias for TripleMania, which he’d not be back for if he’s out three months. Suspiciously, Puerto Rico’s WWC has announced Mesias would be appearing for them at the end of June/early July, a month earlier than Mesias is supposed to be healthy. (AAA also still hasn’t announced when or where TripleMania is.)
  2. CMLL announced the El Busco de un Idol tournament as a way to promote young talent. It’s the third straight one of those. The difference here is there are judges, and they’re trying to keep any news of the tournament off the internet. If they put it over strong on TV, it really doesn’t matter that’s it not on the internet, but it’s still is weird since the matches are happening in front of a live crowd.
  3. in the prior young wrestlers tournament, Euforia & Terrible beat Triton & Atlantis to win the Gran Alternativa. Euforia celebrated by getting the senior citzen’s discount at Denny’s.
  4. On AAA’s first taping in over three weeks, Jeff & Karen Jarrett. The won, teaming with Chessman agianst Juvi & La Parka, but LA Park ran in and made Karen put on a witch’s outfit. In the undercard, one pair of siblings (Mari & Fabi) are now feuding, while another pair (Silver King & Dr. Wagner) made peace after feuding for a couple years. It’s unclear where this leaves the rest of Silver’s Manaicos (or even who’s still in that group.)
  5. AAA ran a few filled out spot shows in major towns as part of a deal with main sponsor APASCO (a cement/building supply company). The logistics of running those shows meant a long gap between TV tapings
  6. CMLL’s annual Kid’s Day show was one for the rudos. Rudo (though beloved) Negro Casas defeated young tecnico Angel de Oro to keep the NWA Welterweight Championship, while only one tecnico got a won a deciding fall in the undercard.

  • Todo x el Todo’s Kid Day show was well down from it’s prior show with Santo’s mask on the line. They may have set up something with Santo or Fuerza, or Fuerza could’ve just been his usual cranky self. They did definitely tease Rayo/Cien
  • Rush’s trio (Marco Corleone & Maximo) defeated Terrible’s trio (Rey Bucanero & Tiger) to keep the CMLL Trios title in the main event of the 56th Arena Mexico Anniversary show.
  • Halloween unquit the Perros del Mal.
  • Ultimo Dragoncito won CMLL’s Mini Rey del Aire
  • Rey Misterio resigned from the Tijuana lucha commission to resume promoting.
  • Other people who’ve kept their titles: Marcela, Dragon Rojo & Ultimo Guerrero

  • Monterrey’s Hijo del Ninja unmasked himself on TV in attempt to garner controversy, and totally succeeded.
