only move in lucha where it's cooler the slower it goes (also, I need to teach people how to put these on the wiki.)

Marco Corleone, Máscara Dorada, Rush vs Averno, Mephisto, Negro Casas: Okay match. A bit of a nice fakeout at the end, but they still end up with the same result. Dorada looked good, everyone seemed fine.

La Sombra vs Último Guerrero: A singles match without surprises. Total Ultimo Guerrero formula, quick short falls of little merit, move kickout pause a dozen times, Guerrero Special. There was no attempt to mix it up or create something interesting for the occasion. You could’ve written five or six spots each guy uses as big moves and alternated them, and then pretty much had this match.

  1. That match is pretty much the definition of why Ultimo Guerrero should never be considered an all-time great worker. He found a formula back in 2002 when he worked singles matches with Shocker and has never changed it up. He’s even less versatile (sp.?) than Wagner who used to be the posterboy for formulaic matches. You can count on one hand the number of times a Guerrero match hasn’t been by the numbers. Off the top of my head: ’05 vs Mistico, ’09 vs Volador Jr., ’04 vs Parka and maybe ’11 vs Goto. Those were all great matches but Guerrero obviously doesn’t have the work ethic to consistently put the effort into doing matches that require thought. Shame.

Have been enjoying your blog for a few months now; thanks for doing the nice reports and the GREAT animated GIFs! You had mentioned that you needed to teach people how to put these on the wiki…reminded me I had meant to ask earlier exactly how you made these; they’re wonderful!
