39 year old man advances to finals of a New Blood tournament. There’s hope for all of us!

Tigre Blanco, smooth old man (also, Super Comando)

Metatrón & Tigre Blanco vs Artillero & Súper Comando: a totally generic opening tag match. Basic moves, no dives, técnicos take the opening and closing falls. They didn’t break the mold when they made this match, this match is the mold. Nice to see Super Comando & Artillero, wish we could’ve got more out of them.

Triton!

Triton vs Raziel, Disturbio, Robin, Bronco, Hombre Bala Jr., Hijo del Signo, Super Halcon Jr. [Sangre Nueva semifinal match]: This was good for a lot of rookies, but I think last week’s was better. This week had the screwed up Signo elimination, which is always going to drag you down a bit, and the opening match guys weren’t as interesting at the other openings guys. Hombre Bala’s dedication to work the bulletman gimmick into as many moves as possible is great, but I could go without seeing Halcón for a lot longer (and it would be absurd how long he lasted if it meant anything.) Raziel and Triton looked good.

SUPER Raziel Driver

Aside: The Raziel Driver, or whatever we’re meant to call it (name please) drops the guy on his face. The Polvora Driver drops the guy on his face. The Euforica Special drops the guy on his face. Thematic finishers?

Fuego, Sangre Azteca, Super Porky vs Misterioso Jr., Namajague, Shigeo Okumura: Run of the mill match. Porky did sligthly change things up here, but this is the same match we get every week.

Psicosis win!

Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, Marco Corleone vs Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr.: standard build up match. Rudos weren’t as sharp as they were a few months ago but had their moments. Marco and Angel de Oro fit in. Psicosis and Mascara were the weakest part. I am not looking forward to the singles match.
