CMLL

52MX: Ultimo Guerrero vs Shocker

Galavision: Devitt vs Volador for sure. Hoping Mephisto vs Delta and that only, because the lighting match shouldn’t take up much time and that’d leave a nice 20 minute block for the title match.

FOX: Your home for the Gran Alternativa. All four rounds, all fifteen matches. (Just not all of them this week.)

C3: TRT vs Maximo, Rush, Shocker

GDL: Find out if Mascara Dorada or Averno is the current CMLL Welterweight Champion. Seriously, find out on and tell me – this title match happened Tuesday, you’re probably reading this on a Friday, and we still don’t know who won.

Puebla: Pequeno Olimpico vs Ultimo Dragoncito for the minis title. I know that one, but I won’t spoil it.

Other

AAA: Queretaro taping, so AAA tecnicos vs Perros, Consejo vs AAA tecnicos, Maniacos vs Cuervo/Ozz/Elegido. Regional will add the mixed trios and the opening tag.

ACM: maybe new matches?

Perros: not on the schedule

IWRG: no idea, since there’s no Thursday taping.

TxT: airs 4 pm on Sunday on TVC Deportes, is the TV version of the mask match.

Distrio Federal title tournaments, Lucha Libre Fan Fest

The article also mentions Hijo del Signo is among those challenging for freshly vacated Distrio Federal weight division titles. This week’s SuperLuchas explained it a bit, though it was a small part off a controversy over who got approved to run lucha shows as Mexico City Fair: previous promoter claims commissioner Fantasma pushed him out for the the new promoter (OCESA, fronted by El Signo), Fantasma says he’d never do such a thing. The fair is having lucha matches every hour, using a lot of CMLL talent, and the Fantamsa interview mentioned they’d be involved in the title matches, but didn’t really explain. This article says their was a tournament last weekend, setting up these finals:

04/15: Demus vs Astral [DF LIGHT]
04/??: Sensei vs Leono [DF WELTER] – maybe this is also the 15th?

The middleweight tournament will take place this Saturday, the light heavyweight tournament will take place this Sunday, and the heavyweight tournament will take place on 04/14. I would like information, but can not find any, on any of this tournaments. The article that brings all of this up mentions Signo is in the middleweight tournament. Perhaps 04/15 is all the title matches. All shows start at 2pm.

Lucha Libre Fan Fest (05/19) has announced Dos Caras, Nosawa, Super Pinocho, Villano III (and sons), Sicodelico, Lizmark, Los Traumas, for it’s autograph signing, Sasuke the Great, Io Shirai, and five wrestlers from the Japanese Diamond Ring promotion (the ex-Kensuke Office)

Rob has highlights of 03/02/2012 AAA.

Expected result. Sombra has one more match on 04/08, an atomicos with MVP, Naito, and Taguchi vs Yujiro, Nakamura, Yoshi-hashi and Masato Tanaka.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 04/09/2012 Arena Puebla
1) Milenium & Tigre Rojo Jr. vs King Jaguar & Siki Osama
2) Metálico, Sensei, Stigma vs Artillero, Bobby Zavala, Súper Comando
3) Estrellita, Lady Apache, Marcela vs La Comandante, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
4) Brazo de Plata, Delta, Hijo del Fantasma vs Kráneo, Morphosis, Olímpico
5) Atlantis, La Máscara, Shocker vs Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.

No follow up on Marco/UG, but the women’s feud goes on. Based on how Porra Fresa talked about it, looks like they’re headed to an Apache/Marcela vs Princesas tag match, not a singles match.

TxT (SAT) 04/14/2012 Arena Theatre, Houston, Texas
1) El Fantasma & Solar I vs Cien Caras Jr. & Rayman
2) Mascarita Dorada & Mascarita Sagrada vs Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito
3) El Hijo Del Santo, Huracan Ramirez, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Angel Blanco Jr., El Dandy, El Hijo del Solitario

I have no idea how the minis get away with working those shows.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  1. Hijo del Santo took Angel Blanco Jr.’s mask in the main event of the latest Todo x el Todo. Angel Blanco was unmasked as David Vargas Camarena. The show is to have sold out Gimnasio Juan Barrera.
  2. Over the course of two AAA tapings, the Perros del Mal nearly broke and reunited with Halloween, introduced Teddy Hart and Taya Valkerie as new members and injuried Mesias by attacking his arms. Both Perro Jr. and Garza asked for title shots versus Mesias.
  3. Prince Devitt defeated Volador Jr. for the NWA Middleweight Championship in what sounded like a great match. Devitt returned to Japan with the championship.
  4. Other feuds started or hinted at on the AAA tapings include Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. vs Dr. Wagner, Consejo vs Los Maniacos, Atomic Boy vs Gran Apache, and maybe another Apache split.
  5. Euforia, 37 years old, teamed as a young wrestler with Terrible to win the first block of Gran Alternativa. He will face this Friday’s block winner, expected to be Diamante or Triton.
  6. AAA & Masked Republic announced a deal for international syndication “outside of North America.” Fans in Europe have a better shot of one day seeing this show. No change in the US.

Other News

  • Lucha Libre USA’s RJ Brewer anti-immigration character received a lot of press, including an AP story. Their live shows have not gotten much attention. The group stated a modest hope for 3,000 fans in attendance and has struggled to get half that many paying fans per show.
  • AAA is teasing the return of Psicosis. Nicho has been carrying around the mask at the last few tapings, but it’s not clear if it’s meant to be him. A new Psicosis would be the fourth (or fifth, depending on if you count Histeria II’s stint as Fake Psicosis.)
  • Bestia won the IWRG Junior’s title over Trauma.
  • Violento Jack won the vacant Perros del Mal Extremo title on their latest show. The Traumas also officially joined the group (as far as their own shows, not AAA)
  • People who kept their title: Polvora, Pequeno Olimpico.
