recap

taped 2012-02-26 @ Arena Coliseo
Fuego, Mr. Cacao, Titán vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skándalo : Cacao vs Arkangel is the most focused long term feud in CMLL. I’m not sure what that says, except it’s probably one not being booked by CMLL and unlikely to finish in a CMLL ring. Weirdly, the announcers seem to think it’ll end in a NJPW ring – all people from Japan wrestler in New Japan, you see. This was good build to the match we’re not seeing. No sense they were setting up Fuego/Stuka vs Hooligan/Skandalo here.

Mije > Maya

Ángel de Oro, Guerrero Maya Jr., Sangre Azteca vs Mr. Águila, Olímpico, Vangelis : Good match for random teams. Mije was totally a non presence until the finish, and then he was the biggest start of the match. Aguila out surpassed Olímpico as biggest goofball on his team.

Averno, Pólvora, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Máximo, Valiente : Kind of a quick reset finish for last week’s title change, with Mascara defeating Volador in the most humiliating fashion. Actually, I hope that’s what that is, and not that they’re setting up the rematch here. This was a good main event, and I’ve had little problem with Pólvora filling in the last month.

03/18: Kotaro Suzuki (O) & Atsushi Aoki b Super Crazy & Ricky Marvin (X) [GHC JR]

Champs retain. Ricky Marvin taking the pin probably means Super Crazy is back at some point.

Notable because there aren’t many Perros del Mal members left. Peligro & Pesadilla headed to Nuevo Laredo? Ek Balam? Mr. Agulita?

CMLL (SUN) 03/25/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Meteoro vs Relampago Azul
2) El Divino & Esfinge vs Metalik & Sádico
3) Gallo, León Blanco, Smaker vs Barbaro Cavernario, Espectrum, Exterminador
4) Solar I vs Negro Navarro [MAESTRO]
5) Hijo del Fantasma & Rush vs Felino & Mr. Niebla

That’s interesting. (Not that main event.)

Guadalajara has operating under different rules since Apolo Dantes took back over, and Santo & Navarro have worked not just on the same shows as CMLL wrestlers, but the same matches despite also working with Santo. The much hyped Santo veto has had been weaker this past year. Still, Solar & Navarro working in a CMLL arena 6 days before they do the same match on Santo’s own show is weird. I think this points more to Apolo Dantes being able to do whatever he wants in Guadalajara than any big change on Santo’s status, but it’ll be interesting to see how far he can go with this.

03/18 AAA TV Results (Zapopan) – Rey de Reyes

AAA TV (SUN) 03/18/2012 Auditorio Benito Juarez, Zapopan, Jalisco [AAA, Hablando De Gili Polleces]
1) Pimpinela Escarlata L El Elegido, Alan Stone, Aerostar, Pasion Kristal, Yuriko, Mascarita Dorada, Octagoncito, Mini Histeria, Sexy Star, Fabi Apache, La Hechicera [cage, hair, mask]
Order of escape: Pasion, Hechicera, Elegido, Octagon, Alan Stone, Pequeno Histeria, Aerostar, Mascarita Dorada, Yuriko, Fabi Apache, Octagoncito, and Sexi Star got Pimpinela’s hair.
2) Joe Lider & Juventud Guerrera b Chessman & Teddy Hart and Halloween & Nicho el Millionario and Daga & Extreme Tiger
Moved to the second match. Teddy Hart made his return to AAA as Chessman’s partner. Fenix replaced Daga, who missed the show due the hand injury. Lider & Juvi beat Halloween.
3) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Octagón, Silver King, Último Gladiador
moved to the third match. Murder Clown plancha on Gladiador for the win.
4) Billy el Malo, Cibernético, Escoria b Dark Dragon, La Parka, Tito Santana [lumberjack]
Listed as final battle. Milicia & Octagon turned on Parka, giving the Bizarros the win. They came back and saved Parka after the match.
5) Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Texano, Toscano b Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Heavy Metal
Consejo had to win to stay in AAA, and did. SuperLuchas reported Argenis joined El Consejo, not clear if it played into the finish here and not mentioned elsewhere – possible confusion with Argos? Hombre de Negro took Wagner’s mask to set up the Consejo win.
6) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Héctor Garza, Jack Evans, LA Park [Rey de Reyes, final]
After the third match, Jeff, Karen, Konnan and Dorian called LA Park to the ring to apologize to Jeff. Park did not, of course, attacking the men and walking off. Jarrett came back out to cost Park the match. Park then cost Garza the match, putting him thru a table. In a bloody final (and possibly with help from Garza), Perro defeated Jack to win the tournament/sword.
7) El Mesías b Jeff Jarrett [AAA HEAVY]
Abismo Negro, who passed away three years ago, was honored/remembered before the main event. Park cost Jarrett the match and the title by handing Mesias a guitar to use, then faced off with Mesias after the match.

Air Date: 03/25 & 04/01.

AAA’s recap didn’t really add much to the results. Attendance guesses range between 6600 and 8800.

It looked like half the crowd has left by the end of the show. It was an four hour show, as AAA major shows tend to be, and ended at 11 pm local; people left early to make sure they could get home.

So, for TripleMania, they’ve got (right now)

  • Mesias vs Perro and Jarrett vs Park – or Mesias vs La Park – or Mesias vs La Parka vs Perro vs Jarrett
  • Dr. Wagner versus the physical embodiment of CMLL booking
  • Jack Evans having plenty of time for Twitter?
  • La Parka vs Octagon?

There’s been talk of doing a show of some significance on or around 05/15 to mark the 20th anniversary of the promotion. It’s possible one of the matches set up here (Perro getting this title shot?) could take place then and allow them to move onto the next step at TripleMania.

Next taping is 03/30 in Queretaro.
